A young girl wearing a penguin hat appears before them. She takes out some cards and on it will lead them to their next destination, or perhaps, they want to talk to her…

Either way, she tosses the cards out and it floats in front of the other, in between them.

She opens her mouth to ask the obvious question everyone should expect of such a scene, “Pick a card. Any card. The magic I will show you will take you to another dimension.”

... Now this is just bizarre. (And whether or not Aidan appreciates this element of otherness he does not say, but the unreadable expression he wears belies a secret amusement.)

"And what sort of dimension might that be?" the eldritch inquires without budging an inch or giving any impression that he intends to comply with her instructions. "You really should be more clear with what all this entails. You could break a human behaving so carelessly."

(Not that he minded that.)

Tonight seems about as subdued an evening as the eldritch has seen in quite some time. The whines of protest have, for the time being, silenced in the walls, and the chime of the bell has not rung in what feels like ages. (To a human, anyway. Time isn't of much concern to the keep.)

So what better way to occupy himself than with perhaps the only unfrozen bottle of scotch? Nothing immediately comes to mind, and so Aidan seats himself atop the counter to better watch over the vacant shop as he indulges.

"Ah, but that is clearly untrue. To be eternal is to last forever, which is already a flawed argument. Nothing is eternal. It just appears to go on because you cannot see or conceive of the stop. If these blooms were truly undying, it ought not have frozen so easily, hm? And by accident, too. Imagine what ill intentions could do to things so fragile as these. Besides, if this garden were truly untouched by time and the blossoms planted as you claim, they would never have grown or bloomed in the first place! Because without time as you know it, they would have remained but seeds."

Perhaps most infuriating is the absence of malice in his voice.

"I have no concern for the fabrications of mankind. And what point is there to? It all ends so soon, after all."

She wasn’t sure what this man was trying to do, irritate her? Enjoy her plight? Most likely the answer was both. But either way, she wasn’t going to tolerate it much longer. She was already embarrassed enough as it was, trekking back home with her bloodied face couldn’t be that much worse.

Releasing a quiet sigh she allowed him to inspect the damage, perhaps he’d redeem himself by being helpful, but that soon proved to be a false hope as he responded with a simple smile. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly before she had made her decision; leaving would probably be the better choice than to put up with this much longer. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand what your intentions are, but if you’re not going to help me stop this then I’m just going to leave,” She responded carefully and calmly, despite feeling rather riled by the other.

Standing up from the bench she gently pushed past the other, being thoughtful enough to keep her hands from wiping any blood on him as tempting as it was. “So if you’ll excuse me,” If there was one thing she could thank him for was that he managed to make her more irritated than she was flustered over the matter, at this point she just wanted to find a place where she could wipe the bloody residue besides the rest of her arms.

"Hmm. I do wonder about that myself."

It would not be incorrect to assume that Aidan knew full well what he ought to have done by human standards. Passing his days in the company of these contradictory and changeable creatures was more than enough to grant him the knowledge of how to and how to not behave in public. Now, whether or not he actually understood or particularly cared for these social niceties was another matter altogether. The eldritch could see nothing wrong in how he treated the young woman nor did he really harbor any real animosity towards her. She was fragile and entertaining, an amusement to pass the time with: a plaything to be innocently pummeled and discarded by a child without any solid, 'moral' foundation.

The only difference was Aidan actually did know better. He just did not comprehend it. There was no 'right' or 'wrong' to him.

When she stands to leave, the young man simply blinks at her without even a shred of guilt for how he behaved, for driving the poor girl to retreating from her unfortunate circumstances in an effort to alleviate her suffering both physical and otherwise. It is not because he seeks atonement when he speaks up as she passes by and he begins to walk away himself. Perhaps the closest human equivalent is an intent to show off.

"Best pinch your nose for several minutes. Either the bleeding will stop or you will."

"Uwah! No, way!" Somewhere, from within the gloomy darkness of the walls, a set of crimson hues narrow in response to the Eldritch’s word. How cruel a creature could he be to withhold the only thing that brought her joy to her (un)life!? If that was how he was going to be, then fine! She would give some of his things back!

As if forming out of air and space themselves, three sets of bottled alcohol beverages materialized before the Eldritch’s feet, landing with a light thud as they dropped from the air. Oddly enough, their landing failed to produce the telltale splashing of liquid that their contents should have made… Though, upon closer inspection, one would find three things:

The message scorched upon the bottles’ labels could have been cryptic, had it not been for the comical the note “I’m not a squirt!” being etched upon them, the caps of said bottles had been completed melted over their openings, and the alcohol within the bottles had been frozen solid.

There is something singularly ridiculous about hearing an ageless entity, a deity to these tiny and insignificant humans, speak such modern and casual words. As if, by some arrangement by the gods -- which, Aidan would like to remind all parties involved, do not exist and were merely conceived in the minds of creatures feeling far too insecure of their suffocating mortality as a means to console themselves when the reality of their obliteration proved too difficult to accept. Really, he doesn't understand why. Every other sentient in the other planes could see this about mankind. So why did the humans continue to prove so testy about it? -- the eldritch appears to almost belong in this time and place. What an absurd notion, through and through.

Living alongside Hisako as he has been should have acclimated him to her childish brand of vengeance. (However long they have resided beneath the same roof is of no concern. He's never cared enough to keep track of the days. Time as humans perceive it is, after all, an artificial construction to try and make some sense of their adorably trivial lives.) And yet, when the frigid glass bumps against his skin and the bottle rolls to a halt beside his bare foot, he can't help but be the tiniest bit surprised that she pushes just that inch further.

"The cake wasn't good for you anyway. It did go right through you every time."

Ohoho. So witty.

♣| Oz twitched at the mention of beating children. Even at the description of how the man thinks of children made him shudder a bit. What a strange thing to say.

Human children? Is he…. not human?

Granted Oz himself wasn’t human, but this guy must be inhuman an a whole different level. He doesn’t seem to be a chain, so what is he? Oh well, if he thinks that way of human beings then something “unconventional” must be rather interesting.

"So, what would you suggest?"

There is the faint sound of denim upon denim as the keep crosses one leg over the other and breathes in heavily the spicy air. Yes, everything seemed precisely as he liked it... For the time being, a certain pale specter is nowhere to be seen or perceived, and here is a human to entertain him. Not that Oz felt particularly normal himself, but every so often the eldritch stumbled upon a quite the typical mortal.

The manner in which the youth subtly squirms brings Aidan both satisfaction and genuine bewilderment. Why it disturbed this species so to speak practically was beyond him.

"Well, you've hardly given me a place to start apart from mention of a naughty child and your interest in a rather bland bedtime story. You'll need to surrender whatever it is you haven't said yet."

Ah, yes. The Spineless Crow. An occult shop unlike any other, and not only because of the eldritch who owns and runs it. Seemingly inexplicably, the tiny hole in the wall store features fronts in cities all around the world, but no matter what door you enter from, the interior of the shop always remains the same. The windows are the same, the bell that jingles in a way that concerns you but you cannot find the words to explain why, the creaking and wooden sign that hangs overhead depicting a black-feathered bird with an empty stare and a body twisted in the most unnatural way... It keeps no reliable hours and never locks its doors, and yet whenever a customer is in need of assistance, the shopkeeper ducks in from between the cabinets or appears from behind the counter. Does the shop exist in a different plane of existence? A space between spaces? Or does the mere presence of Aidan cause the reality around him to warp, to shift, to bend according to his whim and temporary residence in our world?

Who knows...

One thing is for certain, though. The Spineless Crow is not at all what it seems to be. While the wares are relatively normal (at least as typical as what one might hope or expect to find in an occult shop), the clientele certainly is not... And you might even run into a spirit or two while searching the shelves.

With only the aged tombstones as company (for now at least), Glen took a silent stroll through the crowded cemetery, with the fog blanketing the moist ground he walked on, and the chilly air biting at his skin (well… what’s left of the skin he could still feel).

Headstones really did make splendid perches.

It's not as if the deceased could rise and protest his presence, and even when those unfettered souls made a habit of walking the path of the living once again, they thought better of disturbing the eldritch regardless of his disrespect.

Now those still within this realm... that was another story.
