here’s my trash family req for the rousseau-weaver family. all faces and names are open unless i specify! mr. weaver was on a holiday in france when he met and fell head over heals in love with madeleine rousseau. they were young and foolish, and maddy ended up following him back to america where they eloped. mr. weaver’s family--having come from a respectable political family--was disappointed in the union and urged him to put an end to it. he refused, claiming he was madly in love and had to follow his heart.

mr. weaver and maddy were happy for a while. the only tension was the fact mr. weaver had made it very clear he had no desire to have children. his own strained relationship with his parents left him cold to the idea of parenthood. of course, these sorts of things cannot always be planned, so when maddy revealed she was pregnant with twins five years into their marriage, he freaked out but promised to try his hardest to be a good father.

he broke his promise after the twins were born and left, never to be heard from again. maddy raised them as a single mom. it was hard. while she certainly wasn’t mother of the year, she did love and care for her children as best as she could.

since i am a slut for angsty family dynamics, mr. weaver is going to come back into the picture. he has a successful career, married a beautiful (much  younger) wife, and has three children. he feels guilty for leaving behind maddy and the twins, so he's trying to make amends. maddy isn't going to forgive him so quickly, and i don't imagine the twins are either.

SOPHIE FAULKNER // 54 // ASTROPHYSICIST

born in cambridge, ma but moved to coventry when her parents finished university. youngest child of two--has a younger sister she’s very close to.

very strained relationship with her mother re: they aren’t on speaking terms. 

got her undergrad degree in physics from mit and eventually her phd. met and fell in love with her husband who was attending harvard somewhere along the line.

has four kids, but never really felt the role of ~mom fit her. she does love them in her own way. struggles to connect the most with her youngest who was an !oopsie! baby.

mbti is intp, enneagram is type 5 wing 4, and 110% a stereotypical ravenclaw aka has her head in a book 24/7.

recently returned to work after taking some time off and is currently teaching physics at harvard. 

wanted to be an astronaut. settled for astrophysics when she realized she was not a fan of physical training. 

obsessed with 70s and 80s rock music. even more obsessed with pink floyd.

loves all things science fiction. is a total trekkie and will fight anyone who doesn’t think picard is the best captain.

really amazing at playing the piano, but she doesn’t play nearly as much as she used to.

MADELEINE ROUSSEAU // 64 // HS ENGLISH TEACHER

born and raised in lyon, france, but moved to dinan when she was very young after her mother died.

grew up very quickly. her father used to call her “a little adult.” as a result, she was a pretty lonely child and had few friends. 

did her undergrad (in english) at oxford and graduate + postgrad at harvard. 

fell in love with an american man during the summer between her undergrad and grad studies. neither of their parents approved, but they were young and foolish, so maddy followed him back to the states where they eloped. 

her first husband was very adamant about them not having children, so, naturally, he freaked when she found out she was pregnant with twins five years into their marriage. throughout her pregnancy he reassured her he was going to stay and try to be a good father to their children. he ended up leaving a few weeks after the twins were born. maddy pretty much raised the twins on her own. 

she has a very cold exterior, but she’s a little soft underneath. she might be strict, but she’d honestly do anything for her friends and family. all anyone has to do is ask. 

hellz organized. her wardrobe is color coded and her bookshelves are alphabetized. she’s the sort of neat freak who knows if something is moved/out of place.

i am a giant trashcan for angsty family plots. give me those complicated family dynamics, and i can die happy. sophie and her husband met and fell in love at harvard while they were attending graduate school. they married shortly after completing their degrees and moved to new york city where they both managed to get respectable entry level jobs. 

sophie’s husband, being the more family oriented of the two, desperately wanted to start a family. because of her own childhood struggles, sophie wasn’t sure she wanted kids. unfortunately for soph, these sorts of things are rarely ever planned, and she ended up pregnant with twins, and then a few years later they had another child. 

things were pretty good for a while. both had seemingly gotten what they wanted out of life. sophie had a stable career and mr. faulkner had the family he always wanted. of course, idyllic bliss never lasts forever. sophie’s father had a severe stroke. the family uprooted from ny and moved back to soph’s hometown in ma. 

she took time off from work to look after her kids and her father. for a while, she pretended to be happy, but it became painfully obvious domestic life just wasn’t enough. a few years ago, a law firm contacted her to offer her a job, which she took without hesitation. it didn’t take long for her marriage to crumble.

they were ready to amicably divorce, but a surprise pregnancy kept them together. mr. faulkner is holding on in the hopes they’ll be able to fall back in love with each other, but sophie isn’t very hopeful.

Blythe Family

Unfortunately I’m not graphically talented, so the layout of this will remain a sad, basic little thing.

The Blythe family has lived in Oregon since the dawn of man (not really, but it feels that way to mom Blythe who is an East Coast native). The mom is a relatively famous author who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and the father is a medical doctor who can never seem to make time for his family.

Eleanor was born and raised in Boston, MA to affluent parents. Her childhood and young adult years were spent bouncing around to the best prep schools in the city. She did what she was supposed to do, joined the proper clubs, and got the grades needed to get into a top tier university. Eleanor was on her way to becoming the perfect society wife. Until she started her education at Yale.

College changed her, and eventually she ended up in a serious relationship with a “bad boy” from Portland. Her parents claimed he corrupted her, but Eleanor is convinced it was love. They were wild and free, rebelling against convention together, swearing to never turn into their parents.

But before they knew it, they were the comfortable married couple with a handful of children and a nice upper class house. Elle came to the realization that she had, indeed, become her parents after the birth of their last child and fell into an existential crisis of sorts. Dad Blythe had become a successful doctor, pulling long shifts at the hospital and retreating away from his family.

The family is slightly dysfunctional. With Eleanor being the most unmotherly figure imaginable and dad Blythe being cold and relatively absent, they certainly aren’t The Waltons. Underneath, I think they all love each other, but mom and dad Blythe aren’t the best parents, nor do they even hide that fact.

Sorry this is a rambling mess! Honestly, I don’t have any particulars except for the above, so if you’re interested in taking one of the family members, I’d love to discuss building on the family history and crafting headcanons together <3

this is my very open request for the faulkner family. i know the site is opening soon, and i’m putting this up hella late, but i figured it wouldn’t hurt to see if anyone wanted to throw their characters into this!! anyways, both mom faulkner (isobel) and dad faulkner were born into money but didn’t really have a fixation with wealth and status like the rest of their families. 

they met and fell in love while isobel was studying abroad in england and married shortly after they graduated. for two years they lived in the uk before isobel got a job offer from NASA back in the states--the oldest kid was probably born in england.

since issy is very much obsessed with books, literature, and language, i would love for all of the faulkner children to be well-read. it would be absolutely fantastic if one of them had a mini-library just because they wanted to be like their mother (who owns way too many books tbh). i honestly think they’re all fairly close??? issy hasn’t really given them any reason to resent her because she was honestly the most laid back parent imaginable. i’m sorry this is so vague and half baked, but please take one of her kids!!! feel free to message me on my tumblr if you’re interested <333

OK, so I’m gonna keep this hella brief, but basically this is a request for employees who work at NASA Headquarters with Issy. She’s an astrophysicist, but if your character has a different area of expertise/study, that’s perfectly fine! More specifically, I’m requesting her core group of friends who are loosely based off of characters from The Big Bang Theory. If you’re interested in having a character simply work at NASA, and not be part of her “inner circle,” that’s fine! feel free to let me know, and I’ll be sure to hit up their shippers as soon as the site opens.

born and raised in gaithersburg, maryland. she’s the second child of three--her older sister is the callaway mother, and she has a younger brother.

issy has always been the “black sheep” of the family. she’s the only person who was never particularly interested in politics, and she blatantly defied her parents when she chose to study science in university.

speaking of, she attended princeton for her undergraduate education where she double majored in physics and philosophy. she desperately wanted to get away from her family (and also travel the world), so she went to cambridge for graduate school which was where she met her husband.

has three kids (i’ll be requesting them sometime soon lmao. feel free to hit me up if you’re interested in snagging one of them).
