âWhatâre you staring at? Itâs called reading.â
âThey may not care but itâs also a forewarning that when you guys fuck something up, not my job to care. And I think you can keep calling me Professor, Thompson.â
âPretty sure I feel asleep in most of your classes back in the dayâ werenât exactly the most riveting professorâ think age is gonna help with that old man?â
Where was her brother? He had always been the first one she saw whenever she got herself into a mess. When she lost her memories â when Ellie ended up dead on her watch â he had always ben there and right now she needed him. Athena was dead and that was on her and her memories were coming back. Something she had always wanted but hadnât expected it to cost Damienâs death. The guardian wasnât some heartless bitch she had never wanted Damien to die. Perhaps it was a guardian thing â to not want others to see them at their lows. âYou should go and join his bath, Elliot. You werenât here when I lost my memory there are no needs to make amends. Weâre nothing. Youâre free to go. Well Iâve always looked like shit â wanna see a model feel free to take a foot onto our campus. I was hardly something to look at.âÂ
Elliot knew they were nothing, hell, he knew that probably better than she did. Sure, he was the one who left but only after everything theyâd ever said and done together and for each other was rendered irrelevant by her memory lost. All those words, those feelings...that connection had been so completely severed it jarred Elliot more than most anything had in life before that point. And now, years later, though having moved on, he could still remember small things and he could smirk in amusement at them still, somehow. The fact that she hated help was one of them. Some things just wouldnât change it seemed and there was a part of Elliot that wished they wouldnât anymore, and then another part that told himself he just didnât care even if he suspected there was a bit of him that did. Maybe it would have been different had this been later in life, had she been the second or third person heâd ever loved. But she was his first. And no matter how much he wanted, it wasnât something he could just pretend never happened, though he did a convincing job at showing otherwise. âDonât be a dick, Lizaâ Iâm doing something nice for once, let me have my moment,â he replied in turn lightly, determined not to let her words phase him. âYeah, well then you look especially like shit now. Anyway, what the hell happened?â It wasnât very clear and Elliot hadnât had a chance to ask Toby before he was shuffled off.
dtatauking:
His head was throbbing. Everything in him just wanted to roll back on his side and fall asleep again. Though he knew, he knew that he hadnât actually fallen asleep. Forcing himself to open his eyes, he looked down at the hand that was holding his. âyeah, thanks,â he muttered, âmissed you too, asshole.âÂ
Elliot snickered, sitting up as his hand fell to his side, nodding, âthere he is. Glad you didnât die or, yâknow, Iâd have had to kill you again myself.â The guardian nodded at the other, though, joking aside as he looked over at Toby, âwater?â He couldnât really do much for him other than just be there until the doctor came in to check up on Tobias anyway. âOr think you can eat without barfing all over yourself?â
ââ too early for drinking? Is that a thing? Itâs five âoâ clock somewhere, so everyone can take the judgement and shove it up their ass with the stick they have up there.âÂ
â-the fuck pissed in your cereal this morning?â

âYou know, I have no idea why they wanted me here. Youâre all adults still anyway â so donât ask me to clean up any messes, hold any hair back, or rub the crying girls back. And Iâll just pretend I donât see any of this, deal?â
âPretend, donât pretend, not sure anyone cares, Jameson...or Professor Jeffries.â
Elliot had been listless for days, waiting for Tobias to wake up. As soon as he heard what had happened, heâd gone to the hospital faster than anyone could blink. He didnât care that he wasnât legally family, he wouldnât let the nurses remove him. It didnât matter to him because, Tobias was his family. Probably the only person he loved as much as he could recall loving family before. Besides, as his guardian (official or otherwise), Elliot felt responsible for not being there and as his best friend, he felt like a piece of shit for not protecting him. Yet when Tobias became to come to, Elliot leaned forward, squeezing the otherâs hand, âbeauty sleep might work for some people, but youâll look like shit no matter how long youâre out for. Wake the fuck up, Toby.â @tatauking
Waking up at a hospital was not what she had thought would occur. She had been positive that she was going to die. The water had just kept on rising up and though Tobias did everything in his power to get her out of the situation that they had been placed but it had been an impossible one. And then when news landed that Athena and Damien were dead, she swore that she felt like she was back in that room. Back to her lungs not getting enough air and recalling everything that she ever wanted a second chance with. As her eyes opened up and took in the bright room she shifted in the bed sitting up straight, perhaps her brother would be around here but instead her eyes found Elliot, âYou should be with Tobias.â @elliotâthompson
Elliot wasnât sure why he was there, waiting for her to wake up. In a funny way it was a more literally enactment of what heâd waited for her to do for weeks when she first lost her memories. For her to wake up. For everything to go back to normal. And it didnât, not then but now? Well, when she opened her eyes and glanced over at him, he shrugged slightly, âthereâs a lot of things I should be, Liza. Was just with Toby, threw me out so he could get his sponge bath,â he snickered, leaning back in the seat lazily as he met her gaze without hesitation, âyou look like shit.â
âThere is this thing called looking on the brightside. You should give it a try sometimeâ may find it beneficial to your sanity. Yeah, I donât think itâs strong enough.â If this were twenty years ago, she would have brought her own flask, but she hadnât thought that far ahead. âMaybe, but doesnât make it satisfying. The harder the stuff, the better you feel, right?âÂ
âThe bright side doesnât stay bright, or havenât you noticed? Itâs not but cheap booze is cheap and unhelpful unless you drink the entire thing....yeah, trying, though, have you seen someone to hold down down something harder and they just canât? Now thatâs kidna amusing, more than this anyway.
âDo you see this face? This is the face of an angel. Angels donât roofie peopleâ itâs against our code,â she teased, chuckling lightly when he took the cup. Glancing down, she frowned. Well. âIâll get another one.. or steal the bottle.â She shrugged. âAfraid I didnât get the memo. Now I know for future reference. Thanks for educating me.âÂ
âNot that you know of, thatâs how they probably get away with itâ no one expects them to be tricky,â Elliot rolled his eyes, pushing off agains the wall and fell into step beside her, âthink weâll need the bottle for the rest of this shit show. I remember how much I loved bonfires back in uni...I mean, you know, when we were actually the age for it. Not whatever the hell this is. Oh, youâre welcomeâ Iâm always happy to help those with lower IQs understand the basics of life.â
Oh why why did he have to have such a perfect face? Why did God curse him with that stupid perfectly structure jawline of his and why was she just thinking about his face now? She drowned her cup as she threw it to the side and laid down onto the grass. âI guess â I canât really go and teach a bunch of first graders like a twenty something can I?â The guardian exclaimed as her hands extended up to the air and then back down at her. âMy brother is here. I am not going anywhere without him. And I am the oldest so I have to clean up my act â and donât you dare judge me with those perfect eyes of yours â this is my last fuck up night â last night I am being stupid. Tomorrow I will go back to A+ Eliza Rivers. Wonât play games with Damien Chase that I clearly canât win cause heâs smarter and way more advance with the sex area of life â wonât try Mary Jane or Acid.â
âI dunno,â he shrugged, finishing his own beer and discarding the cup as well. âYou couldâ just gotta get certified again, right? I had a teacher in...fifth grade I think?â Elliot took a drag and exhaled, âMiss. Lewis....she was hot. Probably twenties,â he smirked at Eliza, somehow easily slipping back into the teasing tone heâd so often used with her once upon a time, âletâs just say I didnât mind being teacherâs pet.â Elliot raised a brow at the mention of her brother, canting his head to the side as he leaned back a bit in the grass, now leaning on his elbow as she spoke and then he couldnât help the scoff that escaped his lips at her words, âperfect eyes?â He almost grinned before sighing slightly, knowing it wasnât a path he should even think about going down, âA+ Eliza Rivers was never much funâ always had a stick up your ass, rules and training and work and rules and training and work.â He finished his cigarette, exhaling and letting the butt drop from his fingers into a small patch of dirt, âyeahâ donât try that. You...uh...did one time, actually,â he should stop talking, he knew this, but Elliot rarely listened to that small sensible voice that sometimes made an appearance in his conscience. âYou were fucked up for a few days, didnât try it again...least, yâknow, not that I know.â Because maybe she had with someone else somewhere else, he didnât know and, well, it wasnât like he had a right to know anyway.
âYou heard him. Have a drink,â Mara repeated before throwing her current one right in the otherâs face. Sheâd had enough of his incessant yammering.
âSheâs got the right idea,â Elliot nodded, taking a swig of his own before shaking his head at the girl, âstill getting used to everyonesâ facesâ donât think weâve met. Iâm Elliot,â he offered, lazily extending his free hand.
âAre we really going to start with that Elliot? Itâs not even two hours into the party.âÂ
âAlready too many people making idiots of themselves. But itâs Franklinâ what else should I have expected? Enjoying the festivities, Melie? You always were into this shit, werenât you?â
âUnless you want to fucking get arrested Elliot â I suggest you keep walking now.âÂ
âAnd when you do arrest me and try to book me and my finger prints and name come up with a 44-year old manâs face, youâre going to explain that how exactly?â
âIâm choosing to ignore that. Beer is for pussies. Sounds like you could use something stronger, anyway. Might make you less bitchy or maybe itâll make you bitchierâ either way, you should try it.âÂ
âTrying to roofie me, Wist? Wonât work,â he smirked, taking the cup anyway, âwhat? Youâre not drinking?â He nodded at her now empty hands, âdonât you know itâs no fun to bitch alone?â
