Goodbye, Chicago
Six months in Chicago.
What a whirlwind.
I won't forget it easily, but I'm glad to be back home in rural Oklahoma. For the time being, anyway.
Coolest thing about the city?

Reading this powerful book into the new year. My 2018 reading list is coming shortly. #AmReading #thechangeling #victorlavalle https://www.instagram.com/p/BsEHJkJgCrz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kns84pltkqn1

Sadie is Reviewing for CD!
The Mother of Horror, Sadie Hartmann, will be reviewing books for Cemetery Dance! This is a huge win for the horror book community.
If Sadie’s influenced your TBR pile in any small way at all, find her on Instagram @mother.horror and say Congratulations!
BIG WIN!!!!!!
In Chicago for a spell. Anyone I know currently up here, too? #Chicago #SpiritofChicago
Required reading for an upcoming job experience. It's been a dream of mine to work with a company that has required reading. @pivotalsoftware See you soon! (at Chicago, Illinois)
Not wanting this one to end. @stephenking
Reading for a friend. That's the only reason.
Despite popular opinion, I did not enjoy The Martian.
I thought it was genius, and kudos to Andy Weir for crafting such a brilliant plot. He kept a guy alive on Mars for crying out load!
But so far as the entertainment value is concerned (and yes, we read to be entertained), it was blahhhhhh.
Artemis is a more entertaining book than The Martian. But it's still missing something. It's missing substance. Entertainment is more than fast moving plot points and witty banter. I like that stuff, too.
But without characters to believe in, and a conflict worth burning the midnight oil over, then it's a 3-star read at best.
Because @sadie_reads_them_all had only good things to say. #AmReading #BoysLife
Trends suck
Our loves don't change, and the best marketers know that. So they don't follow trends; like us, they follow our hearts. p. 251
“When it comes to the past, everyone writes fiction.”

Linchpin
This book. Linchpin is of the revolutionary type. Want a successful organization in the new workplace? Hire the Linchpins. Don't settle for compliance, because it's costing you more than you know.

You're doing it wrong
"Resist the temptation to write the kind of copy which wins awards. I am always gratified when I win awards, but most of the campaigns which produce results never win awards, because they draw attention to themselves." p. 129
