you want to criticize op for bringing up the people who suffered + died due to why that chant exists, yet here you are encouraging people who are cis and not-LGBP to use this chant for themselves. to “reclaim” a homophobic, transphobic slur that never targeted them. to snatch an AIDS epidemic protest chant out of history, water it down and misconstrue its purpose, and use it against LGBT people.

you don’t need a ouija board to figure out that the LGBT people who create that chant + chanted it in protest against oppressive cishets who were letting them die.. would be upset by you thinking cishets could “reclaim” that chant if they don’t feel a certain amount of romantic or sexual attraction.

every time you act like that chant is reclaimable for all aces and aros, you’re separating it completely from its original purpose. you’re ignoring who that chant targeted (oppressive cishets, ace or aro or not). you’re encouraging cis, non-LGBP people to use that chant against LGBT people. to “reclaim” a slur that never targeted them, but continues to target LGBT people.

you’re encouraging people who are cis and hetero to reclaim a chant that was created by LGBT people because cishets were letting thousands of them die. try and turn this on op all you want, acting like them bringing that up is disrespecting the dead, but what you’re doing is far more disrespectful.

The only thing that I have ever encouraged people to do is what they think is best for their own personal struggle against the systems of oppression stacked against us all.

If that means taking up a chant and using it how it wasn’t originally intended, or broadening the definition of a word, then that’s the way it is. Anything goes as long as it advances our common interest of complete liberation, which this all does.

Anyway, in light of recent events, ace discourse should bite the dust. We’re living in a world scheduled for death, being eaten from the inside out by maggots. The ship is sailing into the rocks and we’re arguing about how much each of us are paid.

Our common struggle is the struggle to survive against oppression. Everyone faces that on some level, we should be making as many allies as possible in this fight but instead we are ruthlessly dividing ourselves over nothing. In the discourse that nothing is “resources”, a fight over minimal access to a billion dollar pool of aid. It’s meaningless, pathetic in its pettiness and hairsplitting. More importantly, no one is gaining anything. We’re all the worse off for it.

Oh, and just to be clear, this is directed solely at exclusionists, all those who started the conflict. People defending themselves against a sudden, random attack aren’t responsible for its effects. No one is ever obligated to roll over in the face of aggression.

Stop thinking you’re helping anybody here. You’re doing nothing but masturbating. Accept that and continue or recognize its futility and drop it.
