imagine if on the last episodes of spn some character (possibly charlie as people are rumouring shes going to make a return) brings up love to cas. and hes like, “love? i feel that for jack, he is my son” but theyre like “no cas! romantic love! you know, kisses, hugs, sex maybe? when you want to spend the rest of your life with someone and every moment by their side feels special and intimate” and that keeps him thinking for a while, we catch him staring at dean on some episodes, other characters too and he seems thoughtful in general until in one episode SOMETHING happens and it clicks. and he realizes and it comes to an interaction between cas and dean where cas tells him he loves him and dean gives him a pat in the back and says “love you too cas” in a friendly manner kinda weirded out bc we know how dean gets with all the “emotional expression” thing but cas is like “you don’t understand i LOVE you” and they get on the common staring constest until sam breaks the moment by stepping in. yada yada, shit happens, dean seems distant, blah blah blah and on the LAST EPISODE as we all know dean or cas are the ones who most likely are going to die so, when one of them is about to u know DIE dean stares at cas and with all the sincerity of the world he says “i love you cas” AND THEY DONT KISS they just look at eachother reassuringly in silence
