Garth got in late last night from his weekend trip to visit Gavin and Delilah. He’d see them and the rest of his family in only a few short weeks when they saw him off on launch day. As the early morning rays bathed his cozy Oasis Springs abode in warm light, he smiled thinking that he’d soon be seeing the sun from a very different perspective - soaring miles above the earth through outer space.

“Here Lilah I got those, you should be taking it easy anyway,” Garth took the drinks from her hands.
Delilah plopped onto the couch next to Gavin, heaving a sigh and rubbing her pregnant belly. “Thanks, Garth. You’re too kind, as always. Your future wife will be a lucky woman,” she smiled mischievously. Gavin nudged her slightly.
“And what exactly are you two cooking up now? Let me guess - another one of your single female friends is joining us for dinner?” Garth teased them playfully.
“Nope, no surprises tonight.” Delilah said earnestly. “Buuuut if you stay one more day we can go out with my co-workers. And if some of them happen to be gorgeous, single women would it be the end of the world for you?”
“When are ya gonna meet a nice girl and settle down, sonny?” Gavin, forever the jokester, tried to make light of Delilah’s persistence.
Garth gave a knowing smile. It was clear he had had this conversation before, his answer prepped. “Look, it’s not that I don’t think marriage is a good idea… for some people. It’s just… my job is dangerous. The Owl 8 Launch is in less than a month. I know better than anyone how likely it is that something could go wrong out there, yet I still do it. So why would I want to subject another person to that kind of anxiety unnecessarily?”
Delilah didn’t balk. “I think you’re scared. And not of dying alone in deep space like any sane person would be. It’s the commitment you’re afraid of. Think about it. You still pay rent on a house you could definitely afford to buy. Your closest friends are your brother and your college buddies who you barely see, and you’re already talking about leaving your post at SpaceY after the launch. It’s clear that you don’t actually WANT to let anyone in.”
An awkward silence descended upon the room. “I have other friends,” Garth finally said quietly, trying to conceal how much the words stung. She had read him like an open book. Gavin looked down at his hands. Delilah blushed, realizing she had pushed too hard, “I’m sorry Garth. Of course you do, I didn’t want to make you feel bad. I just… want to make sure you’re okay is all.”
“I’m fine, really,” Garth brightened, “And although I’d absolutely love to meet these lovely ladies, my train leaves tomorrow morning. So less talk more drink, okay?” Gavin cheered, finally jumping back into the conversation now that the uncomfortable part was over. “PROST!” the brothers slung their heads back while Delilah shrugged smiling, sipping her own virgin drink.

For Garth’s third term, he and three of his fellow Bot Savants members decided to move into a house together. The Maritime Manor renovation is from the gallery by Simlicy.
Garth ended his first year with a B+ GPA (mostly because I had no idea you had to submit term papers by 6pm Friday, oops). He also finished his second aspiration milestone, Erudite.
Garth and Rashad work on their robots at the Bot Savants building meetup. Unfortunately, between classes, Brainiacs study sessions, and the occasional date, Garth hasn’t had much time to build a good RC copter for the contest.
Garth met Becca at a bar a few weeks ago. He asked her out, but she refused. He then asked to take her out to a nice dinner off campus somewhere and she accepted. They had a great time. On the ride back, Becca told Garth she had only accepted for the free meal, but Garth didn’t really care. He was just happy to have gone on his first real date.
Garth’s new friend, Rashad, not only lives in the same dorm room and has the same major, he also belongs to both the Bot Savants and the Brainiacs. Although he may be putting too much on his plate his first semester, Garth decided to join the Brainiacs as well.
Garth had never really played with RC bots before, but the robotics event on the quad had him hooked instantly. Joining the Bot Savants seemed like the perfect way to get involved on campus.
