This is a historic day for Elmira College, opening the doors for current and future students in the fields of Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Medicine.

Elmira, NY -- Micah Moskoff '14 stepped foot onto Elmira College campus for the first time as a full-time student in the fall of 2010. She made the nearly six-hour drive from Somerset, MA to prepare for her first of four pre-season camps with the Elmira College women's tennis team. Since then, she has seen the tennis team transform from their 2-10 season her rookie year to a second place regular season finish in the Empire 8 Conference and a trip the conference semifinals in 2013. Q: Why did you choose Elmira College? A: I chose Elmira College because I'm from Massachusetts, so I was looking for a school that could provide me with a very community driven atmosphere and I was looking for a place to call home since I live far away from it. EC provided that because of its traditions. People know each other on this campus and I really wanted that traditional atmosphere where you aren't just a number, you're a name.
Q: What is your favorite Elmira College tradition? A: I really love holiday banquet because I love the fact that you can sit with your favorite faculty member. You finally get to be with them in an informal setting and get to see them do a little bit of work for you – cook, hand out some food for you. Q: Best part about being an EC student? A: Definitely the fact that I feel like I really belong in this community, I don't feel like a number at all. I know a lot of professors I have never taken a class with and they know me very well, they know what I'm involved in. So I think that's really cool. I know a lot of the coaches too. I don't feel at all like I'm going to graduate here without ever leaving my mark, and I feel like I have done that. Q: What is your greatest memory on the EC Women's Tennis Team? A: Sophomore year we were up against Alfred University in a conference match. We lost all three doubles matches and then lost at first singles so we were down 4-0. Then we got wins at second, third, fourth and fifth singles to tie it up at 4-4, which meant that I was the deciding factor playing at sixth singles. I ended up going into a third set tiebreaker to decide the match. It was dark and raining but I ended up winning it and afterword my team rushed the court and picked me up. Q: What is your favorite pre-match meal? A: The Micah Special: Six-inch toasted wheat sub. It has hummus, honey mustard, onions, apples, walnuts, and shredded cheese with a little bit of garlic powder. It's pretty divine. Q: Any pre-match rituals? A: My favorite in general is our team talk before the match where we motivate the team. Q: What are your post-graduate plans? A: I'm hoping to go to grad school to receive my Master's degree social work. Q: What is your ultimate dream job and/or career? A: Definitely social work but at some point I would really love to do motivational speaking. Q: Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that nobody else knows A: I am an open book! Q: Aside from tennis, any special talents? A: Making people laugh. Q: What will you miss most about being a student athlete at Elmira College? A: Definitely the family feel that I get from the tennis team. I know that I probably won't be playing tennis in a team environment so I am really going to miss being with that team. I don't think I realized how much I appreciated the team until our last road trip. We were gone for the weekend and in the van and we were just making all these jokes and laughing hysterically. I always knew I appreciated the team but it just made me realize how much I am going to miss it and just having that family.
