This is me in 20 June 2018, 2 days before Zack's arrival. At #37weeks2days I still felt pretty good except for high BP and swelling. Never thought that I would meet our little boy 2 days later and nothing could prepare me for the days that followed his birth. A low risk pregnancy yet our little boy ended up in NNICU for 5 days. A mothers' heart aching at every needle prick and tube being inserted. Tears streaming down my face seeing our little one so frail. Yet finding comfort that the most incredible dad was with him almost 24/7 @lifebyjacques and my pillar of support. I've been blessed with an incredible husband and hands on dad. You are incredible Jacques. Finally Zack's sugar levels stabilised, his bloodwork was normal and the phototherapy seemed to be working....it was time to head home as a Family. Its been a difficult and joyous 5 weeks as a family. Growing closer and finding our rhythm. I'm so excited to be a mom and super proud of us as parents of our little boy Zack. New Year - the time of the year that we can look back to the past year and reflect on everything that happened. 2017 wasn't the easiest year for us. Jacques ending up in ICU with pancreatitis in April and our lives changing drastically after that. He is now living with diabetes and that ultimately changed the way we cook, definitely for the better. It's a lifestyle change! After 2 weeks in ICU we realized just how lucky Jacques was to be alive and on the road to recovery. God was with us all the way. He never let go! He lifted us up when weakness kicked in. The recovery went well and Jacques is as strong as ever! Then in September, 1 day after getting the good news that we were pregnant, i unfortunately had a miscarriage... a truly bitter pill to swallow. The tears of joy turned into tears of pain and sorrow. It's been our hearts desire for 6 Years. But God never let go. And He blessed us with a second pregnancy. We are now almost 14 weeks and healthy. Even through the bad times we were never alone. Jacques Badenhorst thank you for being my rock and my best friend. Thank you for not giving up and fighting to survive. I know that 2018 will be a great year. No matter what lies ahead we will face it together. I am so proud to call you my husband! And thankful for everything you do for me and Baby B!
