i hate when girls feel dumb for trying to see the best in people and then end up hurt or disappointed like no!! it’s those people that were dumb for misleading you. they took advantage of your kindness and generosity, and they’ll rot for it
one of the clearest and most disturbing examples on the dangers of late-stage capitalism and how billion dollar companies are willing to put the lives of innocent people at risk for financial gain is the crashes of lion air flight 610 (killing 180 people) and ethiopian airlines flight 302 (killing 157 people) and Boeing’s involvement in it
so basically what happened is that the manufacturer Airbus (HUGE Boeing rival) came out with this brand new plane in 2010 called the A320neo which had a larger engine and fuel efficient and was basically going to make Airbus aloooot of money. Boeing, of course, didn’t like this and scrambled together to come out with their own updated plane called the 737 max. the only problem is…….. this new plane design was rushed into production (to keep up with Airbus’s new plane) and had some serious design flaws.
first, the engine on the 737 max was too close to the ground so they moved it higher towards the windows which is just fine and dandy except it would cause the plane to point too far up during take off and cause a stall aka start falling out of the sky. so instead of taking the time to re-engineer the new plane Boeing decided to cut some corners instead (money money money) and add a software system called the MCAS which automatically forces the nose down if the plane begins to stall. this software was extremely faulty however with incorrect readings and was extremely dangerous because it could control of the entire plane and make it go nose down without the pilot’s awareness. and since Boeing also didnt want to spend the money on re-training the pilots they elected not to tell pilots about this new system at all. so can you imagine being a pilot flying a plane that suddenly starts to fucking dive bomb out of nowhere?? because that’s what happened in these two crashes - after take off the plane would receive faulty data and begin to dive towards the ground. the pilots had no clue that this software even existed and was controlling the plane. and since the pilots had no idea what was happening or how to fix it, this software caused them to ultimately crash and kill themselves and all passengers on board
watch these videos for more info and always check what kind of aircraft you’re flying on in the future
exactly. and the reason that this huge design and software flaw was able to go under the radar is that Boeing and the FAA have an extremely close relationship ($$$) and the FAA actually allowed Boeing to do its own certification check which is extremely unethical when you’re dealing with the safety of millions and millions of lives. it makes you wonder what else slips through the cracks
As of November 18th 2020 the FAA has officially lifted its grounding order of the Boeing 737 Max and it will resume commercial flights
PLEASE ALWAYS TRY AND BE AWARE OF THE AIRCRAFT YOU WILL BE FLYING ON
Literally nothing makes me happier than the idea of hunting Elon Musk for sport. I am completely serious. The thought actively brings joy to my day.

hey! so normally I'm 100% for vaccines and all but I'm,, suspicious about the COVID vaccine bc of the rushed timeline and Pfizer's history. I also have some personal mental issues that's making it difficult for me to break down the likelihood of the vaccine being dangerous/fake/etc and was wondering if you could help me with that? What do you think the likelihood is that Pfizer faked their data? Or that the vaccine has long-term side effects? Or that it was dangerous materials in it?
I've been wanting to write something about this, so I thank you for this question!! I am confident in the vaccine, and will be getting it as soon as I'm allowed. I have done my research, spoken to physicians within my family who have also done their research, and am happy to say that a lot of the fears people have are unfounded. Let's get into it!
Was the vaccine rushed?
No. It was prioritized. The Covid vaccines, to receive approval, have undergone all of the same trials, rules, testing, and processes as every other vaccine. No corners were cut. Over 45k were used in human trials. The reason most vaccines take a number of years is because a) availability of persons with said illness for testing, b) availability of persons willing to undergo human trials, c) resource availability (scientists work on a number of things), and d) funding. The covid vaccines could move faster than usual through these barriers, for obvious reasons, leading to quicker outcomes.
Pfizers history? Likelihood that they faked their data?
They have had a number of lawsuits against them throughout their existence as a company (best known for Chapstick, Advil, and Prep), most involving undisclosed side effects in medications they have produced. Some involving unapproved human trials. Vaccines are, of course, different from medications. However, the Covid vaccine has undergone extensive external review and has been found valid and safe.
Wall Street Journal - FDA review confirms safety and efficacy of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine
Medical Xpress - Pfizer vaccine results published in peer-reviewed journal
The New Daily - FDA publishes first peer-reviewed report on Pfizer trial as Britain rolls out COVID vaccine
The New York Times - Pfizer’s Vaccine Offers Strong Protection After First Dose
BBC News - Safety data on Pfizer jab released by US
Vaccine long term side effects?
This is hard to say! However, the nature of how the vaccine works leads to minimal concern about long term side effects. To quote a physician I'm related to when I asked him about it, "I imagine the worst it could do would be....not work for someone, so that they still get Covid." Let's jump to the next question to see why that is.
Dangerous materials in it?
Vaccines train the immune system to recognize the disease-causing part of a virus. Traditionally, this means they contain either weakened viruses or purified signature proteins of the virus.
But an mRNA vaccine is different, because rather than having the viral protein injected, a person receives genetic material – mRNA – that encodes the viral protein. Think of it like instructions to make a fake shell of the virus. When these genetic instructions are injected into the upper arm, the muscle cells translate them to make the viral protein directly in the body. Your body creates the fake shell, which looks like the virus.
This approach mimics what the SARS-CoV-2 does in nature – but the vaccine mRNA codes only for the critical fragment of the viral protein. This gives the immune system a preview of what the real virus looks like without causing disease. This preview gives the immune system time to design powerful antibodies that can neutralize the real virus if the individual is ever infected. In conclusion, your body creates a dummy virus uniform with no virus inside of it. Your immune system then learns how to defeat it, without risk of harm. That way if it ever runs into the real virus, it sees the shell and knows how to effectively attack.
While this synthetic mRNA is genetic material, it cannot be transmitted to the next generation! This means your body won't continue creating fake shells. After an mRNA injection, this molecule guides the protein production inside the muscle cells, which reaches peak levels for 24 to 48 hours and can last for a few more days. So essentially, you create fake shells for a few days, then you stop. It doesn't keep going forever, which I know some folks were concerned about.
Conclusion:
It is a trustworthy, worthwhile vaccine. If you don't want to go first, that's alright! It will be first responders, essential workers, and folks in long term care facilities who will receive it this year and early next. But I do encourage everyone to take it if they are at all optioned to.
I hope this helps!

Hey I’m once again seeing discourse about PewDiePie (probably because he has been welcomed back into the larger community of youtube personalities playing Among Us like Corpse Husband, JackSepticEye and Cr1tikal) and I just want to remind people of his ugly racist history that he has never properly put behind him and in fact continues to perpetuate.
His fanbase has always been racist. He was one of the first big YouTubers and he has always made racially charged jokes and has said the n-word in videos - notably, targeting somebody else with it. I watched his content when I was a young child, I experienced these things first hand. There were racist jokes, rape jokes, and generally sexual jokes targeted for his younger demographic. He has always been known as problematic, as problematic was used back in 2012.
A preamble to his first exposé: in November 2016 he showed up to a taping of his own series produced by Maker Studios (Disney) wearing a shirt with a swastika on it. Somebody told him to change. He denies this ever happened, but acknowledged that the shirt exists. There are photos of him and a friend wearing it.
The thing he got caught for was when he paid two men $5 to write and hold up a sign with the words “Death To All Jews”. His apology was half-assed. He apologized for the way that it came across and did not acknowledge the reasons that it was wrong. Febuary 2017: he descends into utter alt-right reactionism, harassing the WSJ journalist and sending his fans after the publication to the point where the Journal offered to put the journalist in a safehouse.
September 2017, he called somebody he n-word on stream, just weeks after Charlottesville occurred - where his imagery, jokes, and memes were used as motivation. He went on to say he had no idea that Nazis actually existed, that the Nazi jokes he was making weren’t funny anymore, and that he would not be making them anymore.
In March 2019, a white supremacist livestreamed himself saying “Subscribe to PewDiePie” before committing mass-shootings in two Christchurch mosques, killing dozens and injuring more. He responded with a single tweet, that he felt sickened that his name left the man’s mouth, and that his heart went out to the people affected. Later, he called for an end to the Subscribe to PewDiePie meme and promised $50,000 to the Anti-Defamation League. He then retracted his decision, saying that he did not want to donate to something that he was not passionate about.
Felix Kjellberg has never made a single attempt to rid his fanbase of actual literal Nazis and white supremacist scum because he built his platform around them. He alone has radicalized probably half of the white nationalist/supremacist/Nazi men in America ages 18-25.
I will never forgive him.
This is taken from the Guardian article from above:
You could say that today’s digital economy has spawned a new “bro-nality of evil”. Racist memes serve as in-jokes that help solidify bonds between alienated white men online. The style of these memes, their overblown exaggerated nature, means we often don’t take them seriously. Dismiss them as jokes. But this is how antisemitism creeps into our lives. Not with a bang but with a punchline.
Happy Chanukkah, everyone.
this is getting a little traction so I just wanted to point out that I’m saying this I’m not black, I am a native Jewish person with a degree in how race, gender, and class move through modern media. Nazis in America target black and Jewish people in particular and it would be an incomplete conversation if I didn’t include his racism.
