Ted had become lost in his thoughts more often than not lately, trying desperately to grasp at some thought or memory that seemed just out of his hands. It was frustrating, to say the least. The tell-tale drone of a voice brought him out of his thoughts. âI-- sorry? I didnât mean to be rude, what were you saying?â

theblackestandromedaâ:
Andromeda sat at the vanity in her room, finishing her hair with a few subtle waves of her wand. She was satisfied with her appearance, knowing that she looked as near to perfect as could (and would) be expected of a Black daughter. She felt a slight jitter of nerves that she always did before an important event that she had planned, but she always found that she truly thrived on the feeling. Being in charge came as naturally to her as breathing, and she knew that this was what she had been born for.Â
Standing up, she turned around to see Ted in the doorway. A smile curved her mouth upwards at the sight of him. He looked dashing in the suit she had picked out for him for the night, and she was proud of the fact that she would be on his arm through the event. Blushing slightly at his compliment, she moved closer to him, taking the cuff links from his hand and grabbing his arm to attach them. âYou donât look half so bad yourself,â she replied in a teasing tone.
Ted, at times, wished that the whole world could view Andromeda as he was allowed to-- to the see the blush that bloomed ever so slightly on her cheeks and the smile that she graced him with. Yet, at the same time, he wanted to be selfish with it-- he liked that it was something all for him.Â
He leaned forward to brush his lips gently against her cheek as she deftly helped with his cuff links. âThank you,â he murmured, to both her help and her teasing words. âAre you excited? I took a quick look earlier, itâs going to be great.â

Edgar was usually good with studying just about anywhere. He was one that could get lost in his studies easily, and for that he was grateful. However, he also knew that Ted was not so focused, and he doubted that being outside would be better than being in here. Though, these days, the library had become something of a social place to gather. It drove him mad at times. Grinning, he nodded, âThatâs a fair point. I suppose itâs quite good that we got a place in here instead. It might be a bit easier to focus in here.âÂ
Giving him a reassuring smile, Edgar answered, âDonât stress about it. Weâll get you up to speed. Youâre bright Ted, and you probably know a lot more than you think you do. Iâve written up a study guide, based on what we know will likely be covered on the exam. We can just start from the top and go down the line?â he offered, giving him a honest smile.Â
Ted gave his friend an affectionate, but teasing grin. âPretty sure that you could focus on studying anywhere. Youâve got a gift for it,â he told his friend, but it was all in good nature. He pulled his Defense Against the Dark Arts book to the top of his pile, drawing out his quill and getting it ready to write.Â
He looked up at Edgar and smiled warmly, feeling a strong surge of affection for the other boy. âYouâre the best, mate,â he told Edgar earnestly, sitting up a little straighter in his seat now.Â

âAnswers,â she retorted, her voice cold, curt, and to the point. Lily didnât want to keep him here any longer than she had to, but she wanted to know all she could from him before she let him loose. It had taken them time to determine who they were going to take for answers, and how, but Rodolphus had given them the perfect cover to do so. All Lily had done was take advantage of the opportunity.Â
Keeping her mask firmly in place, changing her hair to blonde instead of its distinguishable red, and keeping her cloak carefully wrapped around her, Lily knew it would be near impossible for him to place her, especially given that sheâd disguised her voice. Despite being good with memory charms, she knew they could be undone, and the last thing she needed was Ted to be able to trace his kidnapping back to her, or any other member of the Order.Â
âI want answers about the death of James Potter, and once that truth serum kicks in, youâre going to give them to me,â she told him, her voice firm and commanding. She was a leader yes, but sometimes Lily was more of a commander than anything else. In a situation like this, control came easily, and she knew how to wield it to get the results she desired.Â
âPeter was involved in Jamesâ death, that much we know. How long was he working for you lot?â she asked, needing to know just how long he was betraying them. âDid you seek him out, or did he go to you?â
This was never supposed to happen to him. He was supposed to be safe and protected, thatâs what he always told his parents when they voiced their concerns about danger. Not for him, thatâs what he always said.Â
Ted shook his head faintly-- he couldnât let himself be carried away by his thoughts. It wasnât the time and he was sure that the strange woman in front of him wouldnât let him linger long anyhow. He squinted, trying to find an aspect of her that looked even remotely familiar, knowing that it was important to remember her, to remember this. But he came up blank.Â
Truth serum. He groaned.Â
âWhy are you making me do this?â he bemoaned, his voice quiet and on the verge of desperate. He flexed his fingers, the binding making him squirm in discomfort.Â
He knew that he couldnât lie to her, not with the truth serum...but he could choose his words carefully. âI...I think...maybe eight months...he came to...to us. I donât know that much about..Pettigrew, so if thatâs what you want, Iâm useless.â

He had to stop, he had to stop, they had to stop. Even though Ted knew it, it still pained him to move away from her, but somehow, he managed. They both did. Ted smiled at Emma softly at her question indicating for them to head off. He took a step, but paused when Emma instead...reached down and-- His eyes widened as he realized what she was doing and he could only stare after her, holding the damp material with a mixture of awe and pure lust. âEmma,â he breathed, giving his head a slight shake before moving quickly to catch up with her. âYouâre a little minx tonight.â
vainemmavanityâ:
It hurt. But hurt had become a constant companion to Emma when it came to Ted, so she knew how to hide it well as he spoke. It was good to know that he missed them, and had she been more sober than she was then maybe it wouldnât have slipped out. âWhy?â she asked, and it was an honest question, but she heard how they sounded. âNo, sorry, I mean Iâm⊠You deserve it. But when you love someone you donât make them choose, you donât⊠Make them cut half their life out for what others might think and I just⊠Donât understand. I love you and Iâd neverââ Wait. Did that just come out? âShit, shit,â she whispered to herself, scurrying to her feet as quickly as she could. âI have to go, I have to.â
Ted closed his eyes, turning his face away from Emma as she asked the question that so many people seemed to be asking him lately. It was always the same tone, and he believed, the same judgement underneath. They didnât understand Andromeda and him, and sometimes, they just didnât know Andy.Â
âI just--â he began, but she went over, talking more and...
âI love you and Iâd never--â
Ted was still at the words, unable to move and unable to quite process the information. He had never heard those words from Emma and if he was back at Hogwarts, he probably would have been overjoyed to hear it.Â
But now? It left him feeling cold all over and it was only the way that she lept to her feet that spurred Ted into moving. He stood, albeit slower than Emma.Â
âEmma...â he started to say, but then stopped and shook his head. âI think...I think we should talk about this another time...â
vainemmavanityâ:
Emma laughed as he called her a liar, laughing still as he kissed her, a soft breath leaving her as he pulled him to her until she was pressed against of the walls. âWeâre doing terrible at getting to the tower,â she whispered between kisses, her hands moving under the collar of his shirt, running over the skin of his shoulder blades. It wasnât much of a complaint considering she kissed him back hungrily, her tongue moving into his mouth while her leg wrapped around his waist, pressing him against her.Â
Ted chuckled warmly against her lips, unable to completely pull himself away for even those brief moments between kisses. He was drunk on her kisses, his hand gripping her hip. As her leg went to his waist, he groaned against her lips, the beat of his heart quickening rapidly. His free hand went up her thigh, holding tight to her. âEm--â he began and groaned once again., barely drawing away, but tipping his head back now. âEm-- Emma, we should...we probably shouldnât do this right here.â
vainemmavanityâ:
Maybe it was the alcohol making her tongue loose, or the longing, or the what ifs that she claimed she didnât have rolling around her head. Looking at him hurt let alone actually talking to him.Â
âOr just look at you,â she said, moving her knees up and resting her head on them, just staring at him unaware of the slight shift in her eyes. âItâs hard,â she whispered before she shook her head and swallowed, trying to keep all her emotions in. Damn alcohol. âAre you happy?â
Ted tried to meet her eyes, but there was something behind the wall that hurt him to even glance on. He found himself shutting his eyes tight for a moment, turning his head to look outward at the dark evening sky. He took a couple of deep breaths as she spoke.Â
âI...well,â Ted began, his tongue feeling thick with emotion and unspoken words. âI miss my friends,â he found himself saying. And it was true. âI miss...everyone. I know that I chose this but I never wanted to lose you all.â He bit the inside of his cheek, steeling himself up to look back at Emma. âBut I am...I am happy with Andromeda if thatâs what you mean. I love her.â
