Wow that start just screams âI couldnât think of a good titleâ....So I got more requests than I was planning on for this! I tried to make everyone happy, but itâs hard to do with just one scene! Most of my requests were for Elounor on Louisâ birthday in 2017. But I gave it a little twist.Â
Side note: if everyone could send some good vibes, I start a new job next week!
Anyway, Enjoy! (This one is truly a oneshot).
Louis picked up tissue paper that was strewn across the floor while El folded blankets. He had finally hugged Lottie goodbye after she, Fizzy and the older twins had come over for a morning birthday gift exchange. It was the twenty second and they had a club booked out for the night for a real celebration later on.
âHow on earth did you handle all that talking growing up?â El laughed as she tossed a quilt over the back of the couch, âI could barely get two words in!â
âOh, donât pretend you arenât just like them!â He put the last of the tissue paper in a bag and set it down, taking her hands instead. âYou are just as full of personality as they are.â
âFull of personality, just what every girl wants to hear,â she scrunched up her nose and fell onto the couch behind her.
Louis sat beside her, âWhat exactly would you like me to describe you and all me sisters as?â He tried to puzzle her since he knew she was just trying to start an argument for the sake of winning it.
El thought for a moment, laying her head back, âIntelligent, kind and beautiful.â
Lou grinned at her, âAlright, you win. They are all those things and so are you.â
âYou are too! All the Tomlinsons are. Too bad Iâm not oneâŠâ she leaned on his shoulder and gave him a knowing smirk.
âOh, donât even try that on me today! You promised no more talking about getting married until next year!â He turned his body toward her and she responded by falling into his lap in a fit of giggles.
âNext year is in nine days,â she managed in between laughs. He just shook his head.
âThen talk to me in nine days! Itâs going to take more than looking adorable and complimenting my sisters to get me to change my mind. Arenât we supposed to celebrating my birthday here anyway?â He was smiling at her, lighthearted as they continued their ongoing joke of an argument.
âI supposeâŠlots of other things to celebrate too though. And to remember, on that point.â El looked up at him from where she lay, her laughter starting to subside as she took one of Louâs hands and laced it with hers, studying their fingers. She reached up and laid her hand on his cheek, âDo you miss her?â
Louis ran his thumb over hers, avoiding her gaze. âOf courseâŠI always miss her,â he lamented with a deep sigh.
âYeah, but you know what I mean.â She moved her hand down his chest.
Louis looked down and found her eyes, âYeah, I do. Spending my birthday without herâŠI was always home for the holidays, so I always got to see her for it. And we just passed one yearâŠI donât know how to say it, itâs like there is a piece of happiness missing from this time of year that no amount of drinking and clubbing is ever going to fill in.â He truly felt strange without her here. Every time he turned around he simply expected her laugh or her smile or her kind words to simply be there, like they always had been on his birthday. âThis feels soâŠnormal. How can she not be a part of it?â
El listened quietly to his words. âI donât know, Love,â she said, âIâm sure youâll get that piece of happiness back one day. It just takes timeâŠ. and probably something besides alcohol.â
âYeah?â Lou gave her a soft smile, âAny suggestions?â He leaned down and kissed her gently.
El kissed him back, sitting up a bit and wrapping her arms around his neck. âIâm full of suggestions,â she told him, almost a whisper, before finding his lips again.
Louâs hands found her waist as he forgot how to breathe, losing himself in her. She pulled away suddenly though and his eyes searched her face in concern, âElâŠWhat is it?â
El had been perfectly fine until five seconds ago. Suddenly her stomach was churning with nausea. She tried to focus on Louis talking to her as she grabbed her stomach. âI donât feel so goodâŠâ She didnât get another thought out as she jumped off the couch and ran twenty feet to the bathroom where she promptly threw up her entire breakfast.
Lou was worried the second he saw how pale her face was. He sat for a moment in confusion before he heard her and ran to make sure she was okay. He pulled back her hair for her as she dry heaved, emptying the last of her stomach.
El took a few shaky breaths and collapsed against the bathroom wall. Louis looked both confused and concerned. He handed her a glass of water from the sink which she promptly downed, wiping her face with her shirt. She actually managed a shaky laugh as she reached up for one of his hands.
Lou took her hand although she clearly didnât have the stamina to stand up. He crouched down and just held onto it instead, bewildered by her laugh. âElâŠ?â
She looked almost delusional slumped against the wall, clearly dizzy and still laughing. âHappy Birthday! I think Iâm pregnant.â
Louis wasnât sure he heard her rightâŠshe couldnât actually beâŠpregnant. Right? âYouâreâŠ.wait, what? You lost me.â He sat down beside her to try and take in what she just said.
âI told you the world needed more Tomlinsons,â she fell against his shoulder in content.
Louis burst out laughing in spite of the situation. âYou always did come up with some interesting birthday gifts.â
El rolled her head to look at him, âWell if you get a person for your birthday, I at least want a new last name for mine.â She mocked a serious facial expression in her tired, overly-happy state.
Lou chuckled and squeezed her hand, âDeal.â He kissed her forehead. This is going to make for an interesting family Christmas, he thought to himself.
