The main point of this article is to inform us of who “Karlie Harman” is. “Karlie is the first female quarterback ever to win this award.” Laura Leigh Davidson is speaking about Karlie and her achievement to be the first quarter back to win the Player of the Year award. So this example pulled out from the article gives us evidence that the main point is as I have stated. This main point developed starting from giving us basic information about Karlie and who she is, to speaking or informing us about Karlie in details, how she grew up to be who she is today, and how she has been successful in her life and in football. “Karlie Harman is blazing a trail for female football players.” This is how Laura introduced Karlie to us (giving basic information) in the introduction. “In 2012, she won a regional competition of the NFL’s Punt,Pass and Kick contest.” Now Laura is giving us more details about her past and how she grew up to be who she is today based(or related )on events from the past. This information is guiding us through Karlie’s successful path from the day it started with interesting facts and details. So this is how the main point developed form giving us “basic” facts about Karlie to giving us past details and how she developed into becoming a successful person.
Organisation:
I think the organization of this article is considered a strength for Laura Leigh Davidson. Firstly, Laura has divided her information about Karlie into small sections that make it easier for the reader to understand. Laura also divided her information in a way that allows the reader to grasp onto every sentence being read, and the facts are limited and simple that it allows the reader to get so involved in what the article has to say -or inform in this case. Plus the author’s choice of vocabulary usage is simple and understandable which gives people of many different ages the opportunity to read and learn from this article. The only weakness the article has when speaking about organization is the lack of pictures. Pictures could also help us get a better understanding of Karlie’s achievements.
Purpose:
I strongly support the purpose of the article and consider this another strength of the author. The purpose of this article is presented using facts, details, dates, and specified names and places. Not only does the author give us basic facts about Karlie’s successful acts, but about her past as well and how she developed into becoming what she is known for in present day. The author giving us facts about her past really shows us how the author viewed her purpose in many different angles not just “facts” or “information” but “past details and “development activities ” that allow us to see how she has morphed into this successful football player. And the author also includes “what’s next” for Karlie and what her future intentions or goals are, which presents to us yet another angle that the author has viewed her purpose at.
Where did the author (Laura Leigh Davidson) get her information from?
I consider this a very important question to be asked. Because asking this question would allow us to realize if the author has gotten her information from reliable places, and can be trusted.
Has this article been proof read or critiqued by an experienced publisher?
This is another important question to be asked. This allows us to make sure the article had another “professional” witness because it would help us understand that the information is reliable, trustworthy, and 100% accurate. Plus it would allow us to understand that this article consists of very important information that should be known (or informed) to people.
I consider this article reliable because:
1) The author gives us year dates which gives us the chance to search the dates up if we need evidence that this event truly exists (“In 2012, she won a regional competition of the NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Kick contest.
2) Laura also informs us information using people as our resource. Such as Karlie’s mother “She was born with sneakers on”, says Karlie’s mother, Karen, “this gives us more evidence that the information can be trusted.
3) She also gives us facts with resources or evidence “Once [Karlie] showed that she could take a hit [and] showed she could lead the team, they started respecting her,” Coach Thomas told The Washington Post.” So The Washington Post is our evidence that shows this fact is reliable or trustworthy.
Isn’t it crazy how we can still love someone who has done us wrong. Even after all the pain an disrespect they put you through, you’re still willing to give them your all.
