iPhone 6S - The Swiss Army Knife
Mobile phone was used only to make calls and send SMS messages to your friends and family. Everything changed when the phones we use started to get smarter. Smartphones became a thing with the introduction to the iPhone by Apple .Inc. in 2007. Since then it was the most technologically advanced piece of gadget we’ve ever gotten our hands on to.
Today’s smartphones are like digital versions of the Swiss Army knife. They are remarkable devices that are packed with a multitude of features. The typical smartphone combines telephone, watch, computer, Internet browser, music player, video player, e-Reader, calendar, alarm clock, still camera and video camera into one pocket-sized device. While your phone can be used for simple computing in a crunch, no one is abandoning their desktops, laptops and tablets just yet. There are some jobs that are are best done by full-featured computers. Let’s have a look at how a particular smartphone by Apple (iPhone) can be used to make your life easier.
The iPhone comes with tons of sensors these days. Thanks to its built-in sensors, typically including GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, and microphone your smartphone can easily serve as a variety of tools for carpenters and other handypersons. Some examples include a level (bubble level bar, surface level, or plumb-bob) and compass. And a smartphone doesn't even need sensors to be a display-based tool like a ruler or a protractor. Latest smartphone gadgets like i-Watch includes a sensor to report to the phone the status of your heart rate. People with health concerns will be able to track their heart rate on daily basis.
Camera is another key component in iPhone that makes it special. Having the fastest camera in the world, iPhone can now shoot around 100 photos per second in the burst mode. iPhone serves as a good camera for the user to be taking quality pictures. Even though its not closed to professional photography, still you can take challenging content for social media.
Did you know that your camera can be used as a scanner and a barcode reader? You just have to install these two apps and you are good to go. Your camera can scan a document and it will be exported as a PDF or an image of your choice. That’s not all, you can scan barcodes printed in any product to get information about that product. You can even use this function as a business card reader.
One of the most interesting feature in your iPhone is Apple & Google Maps. Now your phone can find your location as well as find your friends location for you. You can brows the world map to find any location and you can get the exact coordinates of your location.
That’s not all, Apple & Google maps can suggest places to get any kind of services for you. As an example, places to buy cloths, places to drink and eat. The stores will be located according to your current location and the suggestions will be based on how close you are to that store.
It is needless to say that iPhones are the most innovative piece of entertainment gadget ever created. Apple first created iPod touch and Nano for playing music and video. Later they simply concatenated these two devices to create a powerful jukebox and a mp3 player. You can play any song you’ve purchased from iTunes store and keep them in your phone. Videos can be recorded, downloaded or even watch from the internet. You can watch high definition videos in your 5.5” screen without any problem. Latest iPhone supports 4K resolution video as well.
All the tools in the Swiss Army knife are useful tools in the right situation. However, I still wouldn’t recommend cutting anything precise with those tiny scissors. Same with smartphones, use it at will but don’t take anything for granted.
