Henrietta telling Abby they should go hiking or something “because it’s like taking candy from ein baby” and Abby’s like Heiny I don’t think you’re using that idiom correctly. What are you trying to say about going hiking. And she’s like “I’m trying to say zat it is one of my hobbies” and Abby’s like “right”

This is an echo of when she was talking to Nigel about proverbs and learned he had always interpreted “when going on a journey of revenge, dig two graves” as meaning “have a lot of contingencies in the revenge plan just in case you need to kill an extra person”

BY THE WAY for both Nigel and Abby, the things they “aren’t allowed” to want because of their sector v responsibilities are also encouraged by their Cancelled Gfs who are maligned for wanting to free them from this. Henrietta wants nothing more than for Abby to stop being nice and go apeshit, enjoy her life, have some goals that are about her and no one else. Lizzie wants nothing more than for Nigel to quit his job at the self-sacrificing crisis factory and gd forbid save his loyalty for people who don’t send him to die. Yes they both try to spread their wisdom in moderately problematic ways including cannibalism and mind control and et cetera. But these two are so damn distracted all the time with their revolutionary LARP club you need to get their attention

!!! tHIS DOeS NOT MEAN that Nigel and Abby don’t have an extremely powerful love for each other and in fact they almost unquestionably love each other more than they love anyone they’re ever romantically involved with, this drives both Lizzie and Henrietta crazy but Lizzie has reached a truce where she recognizes her and Abby occupy different niches in the ecosystem. Henrietta does openly want to kill Nigel with hammers though

I have NOT mentioned this before and actually am so happy u asked…thank u. I’m going to try and talk about it a little bit while still saving some stuff for fics later lol

Basically, Lizzie’s family doesn’t know she’s a GKND operative either. When the GKND came to earth, she was “assigned” a human family that already existed, and then that family’s memories were rewritten so that they’d all recognize and remember her as someone who had always been there. So her family all have false memories of her as a baby and a younger kid, and a lot of their family records were also altered or just destroyed. It seems like a lot of work to go to for one operative, but the GKND’s memory tech really allows them to do this kind of thing without much effort all the time.

Lizzie is pretty good at concealing the GKND mission at home, but if she ever slips up and they discover something classified she can also just erase their memories again. Again, it’s really easy and encouraged in the GKND to just do this over any minor inconvenience. As canon goes on and she starts to discover the concept of ethics though, Lizzie tries to stop doing this—her first real moral boundary around it is that she won’t do it to Nigel, and this later extends to her family as well when she starts to “pass” as human pretty seamlessly.

As I’ve probably mentioned before Lizzie in my headcanon is sort of a military deserter of the GKND and also trans in a science fiction way, so over the course of canon she identifies more and more with being Lizzie and less with “Numbuh Vine”. While she starts out just seeing her family as a cover story to study and blend into, eventually she considers herself related to them more than she feels connected to her birth species.

We know Lizzie has an older sister and a younger brother canonically, but in my headcanon she also has a handful of other sisters; it’s a big family where she’s the youngest girl. She spends a lot of time hearing teenage girls and young women talk about marriage and having families, and that was sort of her entry point into human culture. Her a family is also Jewish and Modern Orthodox, meaning they’re much more religious than most other Jewish families. They speak both English and Yiddish at home. Lizzie is observant too, but she’s also a little rebellious about things like wearing flashy clothes and her notably non-Jewish boyfriend. Nigel has never met her parents and doesn’t until my adult timeline where marriage is on the table…I mean unless you count that time he beat up her grandma at a wedding which wasn’t a great first move

Also, Lizzie’s family name was not originally “Devine”—that was another detail the GKND changed to make it easier to remember where they’d left her. They were originally the Rosenblums, and if you ever see me use that as Lizzie’s last name it’s because she changes it back in the adult timeline once the GKND are gone. A lot of her mission against the GKND is to get them away from Nigel, but getting them away from her family on earth and undoing the damage to other people’s memories is the rest of it. As a GKND operative whose planet was “cured” of adulthood (i.e. pretty much destroyed), she didn’t ever really have a family or a sense of being from anywhere before, so it’s something that means a lot to her now.

On that note Nigel being an illegitimate KND operative was such an insanely successful heist on Abby’s part that even I frequently forget it’s true. Even the most dedicated Nigel haters out there would not believe you if you said this. Abby broke the rules to get him in and to cover for this Nigel simply became the kind of person who would make her lie the truth

I love the insane unofficial two-leader arrangement upon which Sector V stands. It’s seriously poetry how Abby is like “my greatest fear is being held responsible for everything going wrong” and Nigel is like “ok that is so convenient because I have a compulsive need to make sure things don’t go wrong. Do you want me to hold that responsibility for you” and she’s like “Yeah but I’ll feel guilty about that forever is that okay” and he’s like “Well I will always feel the weight of a debt unpaid so I guess that’s fair” meanwhile they’re both Like That because of the same event which was also how they met in the first place. And they’re bestest friends and they’re normal

Btw yes Nintendo is going to extort me for the new Tomodachi Life and my island is going to be KND central…I’ve already made Nigel Lizzie and Abby in the demo version. Nigel and Lizzie were assigned the exact same personality by the game LMAO true soulmates

I haven’t mentioned this a bunch but in my headcanon world Lizzie’s family is modern orthodox and very culturally Jewish, so they + Lizzie by extension don’t observe a lot of “mainstream” or culturally Xtian holidays. Stuff like Xmas/Easter/Halloween/St. Patrick’s Day/even Thanksgiving is pretty much totally invisible to her. However….just as some orthodox kids might sneak out of their house to eat cheeseburger, there’s no way Lizzie isn’t celebrating Valentine’s Day. Obviously a Valentine’s themed event or object hates to see her coming. Didn’t you hear St. Valentine just married a Jewish woman and converted it’s fine now. They JUST announced it
