i think theres a conversation to be had about how a lot of people in this fandom interact with whitaker as a character

people can headcanon whatever they want, but i’ve seen a lot of people get really upset/weird about whitakers interactions with women that he could be potentially romantically involved with because they want him to be canonically gay/have a coming out storyline. but his canon attraction to women (he flirts back with nurse kim in season 1!) does not necessarily cancel out his potential queerness! he could be bi! and i can’t help but think that there is biphobia and misogyny afoot

also, yes - whitaker being in a relationship with amy would definitely be very morally grey, there’s an ethical dilemma there. however, ethical dilemmas are literally the entire foundation of the most popular ship in the fandom, hucklerobby, so i can’t help but think of this as hypocritical

again, people can headcanon whatever they want, but i think we all need to maybe rethink how we let our headcanons influence our own feelings about the show

also honestly this is more in response to things that i’ve seen on twitter, not here, but i don’t have much of a platform on twitter and just feel more comfortable sharing my thoughts here, and this has been on my mind a lot as the season as been airing.
