“Damn, I wish it wasn’t common courtesy not to screenshot nudes on snapchat. That last one? I’m dreaming about that tonight. Some of you girls are way too good at teasing.”
“I mean there’s probably a reason why women send it on that app so that they’ll know if you took a picture of it. I mean what if you kept it and spread it around?”
“I have to go to the dentist today - why do we need yearly checkups?”
“I’m not going into dentist school, but I would imagine that it’s to make sure your teeth don’t have cavities and that they aren’t going bad. It’s like asking why we need physical check ups every year with our physicians.”
“What is it asshole day?”
“I could check Google if you want to know.”
“No, don’t do that…please. I promise I’ll try to do my best, but you can’t be mean.”
“I’m not mean. I just don’t need to do all the work when it’s a group project. As long as you do your half, we won’t have any problems.”
“I wasn’t offering any, don’t worry. Was wondering why you were spilling your life story to any unsuspecting passerby.”
“I wasn’t spilling my life story. I was just saying that I was proud of myself. I wouldn’t go spilling my life story anyway.”
“Why not? You won’t go to heaven if you do?”
“I’m not religious, but I just don’t like talking about those terms in that way,” she admitted. She felt so awkward in this situation considering no one ever called her out on these things.
“I know I’m only a pledge, but I might have some ideas?”
“Don’t worry that you’re just a pledge. I was there last year. I mean at the end of the day, we are all a unit. Everyone is welcome to suggest ideas because someone might have an amazing idea. Don’t be afraid to share anything, okay?”
“And what is that supposed to mean? What? Sex?”
“Yeah, I meant that. I just don’t like saying that word out loud.”
“Am I supposed to compliment or pity you?”
“That’s for you to decide, I guess. I don’t need pity though.”
“Oh God, please don’t even. That’s something Tri Pi would do, not us.” Magnolia shook her head in disbelief. “Yeah everything is alright. I mean you know what’s going on lately so..” She shrugged. “I am over it though. I am okay.” She added, sighing. “I am excited for you too! This year is gonna be your year, I can tell.”
“Yeah, I figured. I was just telling you because I thought it was quite funny. I wouldn’t do that to any of the pledges. That’s a little ridiculous,” she admitted. “Yeah, I do. I just don’t want to meddle in your life or anyone else’s. I just hope everyone is happy is all,” she smiled. “That means a lot coming from Magnolia Sawyer, the girl who is amazing at everything.”

“Most people don’t, it’s fine. Sometimes I do, I miss how secluded it is back home, the way of life. No need for all these fancy social media shit. If you wanna talk to someone you go visit them or call them.”
“I see. I’m the complete opposite. I grew up in two different big cities so I’m used to it. I guess I just like having things to do other than going to see a friend at their house. But I also like the idea of a small city where everyone knows each other.”
“I bet it is.” Liz smiled. She has never been an officer, she has never been interested either. “I work much better in the last minute. I am somewhat organized too but I function better under pressure.” She explained. “No, I am not. I am only a member, I have never wanted to be an officer.”
“Oh, I can’t do that. I’m the type of student that finishes a project two weeks before it’s turned in. I don’t do well under pressure at all. I need to train myself to be because I know my junior and senior year won’t be a walk in the park,” she admitted. “Oh, I see. What sorority are you in?”
“Of course we could. It will be great. Worst case scenario we’ll do it on Sunday, everybody is free. Definitely, brainstorming sessions always work.” She agreed. “I have been okay.” Magnolia said with a sigh, it wasn’t completely true. “How about you?”
“Definitely. I’m just jotting down any ideas I get. Google hasn’t been much help. I found some weird idea that these women dressed up in bikinis and did sexy car washes and they managed to raise a lot of money for charity,” she laughed. “Just okay? Is everything alright?” she asked. “I’ve been well. I’m staying on top of my classes and I’m excited for organic chemistry lab.”
