[A]s Deloria so presciently explained, the struggle between space (locality) and time (universality) defines so much of our politics. Western cultures see the world through universal visions of time, where something is true universally across time if it is indeed true; meanwhile, indigenous cultures live in a space that contextualizes knowledge.
