in the fall of 1968, emilia j.w and lara a.c formed the first women led radiocast in nyc. instantaneously, thanks to their charismatic dynamic, they gained a substantial audience of 28.9k listeners. although, by the time 1970 rolled around — those seemed like rookie numbers compared to the 12.9 million that now tuned in. officially “fleacheq” had become nyc’s staple broadcast, earning both crew and cast a golden vinyl.
ordinarily, they would’ve been choking up on excitement — celebrating with fancy champagne and getting drunk off of each other lips. the same ones that would whisper “we’re just messin’ around” or “it’s ok, we’re just practicing right?” to justify their disorderly adoration. although now, with a veil thin as time… they sunk into heart-shaped lockets. waiting for the other to open them up.
