There are four significant days that we have experienced together in our time of being a couple. I can’t wait to add to this list. I’m sorry that this is a little long. I was pretty emotional this morning, and I just had to add some last minute things in.
September 18, 2015. The day it all began. The day we finally stopped denying our feelings for each other, threw caution to the wind and decided to jump in feet first. Both of us were scared due to our previous relationship histories with other people, but in the back of my mind, I knew this was different. I knew that we were going to make it. It's an unexplainable feeling when you find the love of your life. Something just feels right and there's that little voice in the back of your head telling you that this is it. This is real. This is what it feels like to truly be in love. And I felt it that day. The second our lips touched for the first time, I felt like I was coming home after being away from a long trip.
December 1, 2015. Easily one of the happiest days of my life. This was the day that you asked me to marry you. In the most perfect, amazing and romantic way ever. You chose the one place that means the most to us. The ballroom at the DWTS studio. The one place where we've shared countless memories and interactions. The place where you've become a champion now six times in a row. Our escape from life's craziness and demanding schedules sometimes. And the stage where it's determined on whether or not you're coming back for the next show, you got down one on knee and asked me the four worded question that every girl hopes to hear from the love of their life at one point. Of course I knew that from a very early stage in our relationship that I wanted to marry you. We talked about it a few times and that's when I knew we were both on the same page. As if that was ever a question to begin with.
December 12, 2015. Not many people know this, but this day is when I found out I was pregnant with our three little angels. We talked about children and expanding our family way before I was pregnant; however, we planned for it after we got married and moved into a bigger place. But of course life had other plans, and the second I saw the little pink plus sign, I was overjoyed because it meant that we would be expanding our family sooner than we planned. Then the next day I went tithe doctors to confirm it and found out we were having triplets. Like a normal person, I freaked out for a little bit wondering how in the world we were going to raise four kids under the age of three at the same time. But we did it, and continue to do it every single day. January 17, 2016. The day the babies were born. We weren't moved into the new house yet, none of the nurseries were done, and we didn't have any names picked out. We were probably the most unprepared that you could be when it came to having three babies, but we made it work. It took us a week to finally come up with names for all three of them. Diem being last because of how picky I am with names. Ever since that day it's been a whirlwind of adventure and there is definitely never a dull moment, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Our little family, dogs and all is my favorite thing that life has given me so far. I don't care if I never win the mirrorball because as far as I'm concerned, I've got something so much better and way more rewarding.
February 20th, 2016. So, I guess this makes five significant dates. The day that ends our journey as boyfriend and girlfriend, and begins it as husband and wife. We're starting a new, exciting chapter in our lives together. Something that most people take for granted and don't realize how lucky they are to find the one person who they can grow old with. Not me. I will never take us or our love for granted. You are without a doubt the love of my life, and I will always be here for you no matter what. You're my heart, best friend, confidant, movie buddy, father of my children, and so much more. I love you so much, Derek Hough. You mean more to me than the English language and any other language can express. You're my favorite part of coming home from a long day at work. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I can't tell you how much I love that I get to be your wife. For better or for worse and in sickness and health. You are my better half. You make my cloudy days sunnier and always inspire me with your positive love and energy. I'm your number one fan and I say that because I love everything you do. You're so talented in all aspects of the world, and I can't wait to see what our children inherit from you. I can't wait to see how they turn out, what sports Landon wants to play, or what the triplets will be up to. And you know what the best part is? I'll try to see it because I'm forever yours. In every sense of those words. Whatever comes our way I'm not worried about in the slightest because we make a good team. The best team and we can handle anything and everything that life throws at us. I love you. I say it a lot, but I mean it every single time. In a few minutes I'm going to be your wife. I won't be Emma Slater anymore. Instead, I'll be Emma Hough, so as my last few moments of being a Slater let me say this: l, Emma Louise Slater, love you Derek Hough unconditionally and truly forever until death do us part, and even after that. Thank you for making me the happiest woman alive. I'm forever thankful for the positive and loving impact that you are making on me every single day. I’m keeping you forever and for always.
