Allen’s supporters and coworkers put their own artistic and commercial gains before their morality. They side with a molester and silence his victim. They are guilty of being complicit in abuse. But that, ultimately, is a their own personal decision (however immoral), one that the public (beyond boycotting the movie) has no say in. However, what we can do is hold these artists (and there are many) who side with Woody Allen accountable. That means not allowing Justin Timberlake to harp about his respect for “strong women” while blatantly ignoring the strong woman that accused the director he is working with of sexual abuse. That means not allowing Timothée Chalamet to performatively pledge that he won’t be silent about abuse, while still working with an abuser. That means not naming Selena Gomez the “Billboard Woman of the Year” when she is complicit in silencing the ones she apparently represents.

This is why it angers me when people reduce Bollywood to frivolous musicals made solely for entertainment. Bollywood is a multidimensional platform that exposes a lot of prevalent issues in an often bold and unapologetic manner. Powerful scenes like the above illustrate how the Indian movie industry seeks to enlighten the public. I promise you, it’s not all song and dance.

At that point, I had to resort to using lawyers, not by pursuing a sexual harassment case, but by claiming “bad faith,” as I had worked so hard on a movie that he was not intending to make or sell back to me. I tried to get it out of his company.

Sasha Pieterse Body Shamed, Called Fat on Twitter

Sasha Pieterse responds to body shamer who called her fat after Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) elimination on Twitter; Body-shaming, weight gain

Sasha Pieterse‘s elimination from Dancing With the Stars earlier this week SHOCKED the entire world. Most fans didn’t think she deserved to be sent home and offered her messages of support and encouragement on social media. Unfortunately, one person used Twitter to write a nasty note and body-shame the actress.

The user whose account has since been suspended wrote, “Goodbye Sasha focus on your weight and your attitude you made me and my daughters uncomfortable. Overweight isn’t attractive ever. #DWTS”

The Pretty Little Liars alum saw the disgusting message and instead of ignoring it, decided to fire back.

“This really bums me out, not because you’re exercising your right to have an opinion but because I know how dangerous this mentality can be for young girls,” she responded. “I hope you teach them to love themselves no matter what their physical appearance looks like.”

The 21-year-old also added, “I pray that one day you abide by the Bible verses that you post.”

But Sasha wasn’t the only one to stand up to the hater. Mark Ballas, a pro on the reality dancing competition, also slammed the woman on social media.

Sasha recently revealed that she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which caused her to gain ~70 pounds in two years. Since being on DWTS, however, she lost upwards of 37 pounds and said “it really is magical.”

I think now’s a good time to remember how Michael Bay treated Megan Fox. They first worked together on Bad Boys 2. She was 15 years old and he had her wear a bikini and dance in a club. For her Transformers audition years later, he filmed her washing his car, and then there’s this little story Megan told during a press conference:

“I went to Bay Films and Michael Bay has an upstairs room which is where all the business happens and he was up there with Ramone, two other actors that were possibly going to be in the film, Shia was up there, three of the writers were up there. So it’s a room just full of men, a lot of men and they’re up there talking and discussing the movie or whatever and simultaneously he wanted me to have my wardrobe fitting. So I had to come up and down the stairs every time to show him a new outfit, its like forty stairs. I’d go down to this little room in the basement and put on an outfit and one of the outfits, let’s say, they’re basically like onesies or like baby jumpers with motorcycle boots on. And I would go up there and parade around in front of all them, because Michael…god-forbid he’d get up out of his chair and come into the hallway and look at me…I have to come into the room and do a little fashion show, a little three point turn, and then he would say he liked it or hated it for whatever reason and then we’d repeat the process. We did this for like five hours.”

During press for the second Transformers film, Megan compared Bay to Hitler in an interview with Wonderland, to which he responded by publishing an “open letter” on his website, supposedly written by Transformers crew members - but the language in it seemed oddly reminiscent of things he would say in interviews. In the letter, Megan was labeled a “bitch” and a “porn star.” It would be deleted within a day, and Bay would make another post on his site claiming he did not condone the letter whatsoever… despite it being posted on his official website to begin with.

Upon Steven Spielberg’s suggestion, Bay fired Megan from the third Transformers, and her career never recovered. She would later have to apologize to Bay to get a role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

lemme tell you a thing

women are fucking hairy, ok? i’ve seen women covered with hair from their ankles to their armpits. women with super visible pubic hair that approaches their bellybuttons, regardless of race/ethnicity. we have hair absolutely everywhere and our public image as women is totally devoid of this reality. 

men really have no idea how hard women have to work to make ourselves hairless. it’s as unnatural for us as it is for them but this is something that doesn’t even cross their minds as they emerge from their caves looking like unwashed wookies not even aware of how much they’re just allowed to exist.
