“Impossible?” She repeated, “Jeez, I leave for two weeks and suddenly you think you’re some kind of superhero who can beat anyone including me. Who have you been hanging out with?”

“There’s plenty,” Ronnie said, pouring himself a cup and then turning to pour one for her, “There you go.”

“Thank you,” Emma answered, holding her cup over to him. “I’m sorry, people just seem to have a really bad habit of not refilling the pot. I didn’t feel like starting the day off like that again, you know?”

“I’m getting coffee,” Ronnie said, “Why?”

“I’m desperate. I thought you were just standing there to stand there, I would have pushed you,” She confessed, "Is there enough there for both of us?” Emma then asked, trying to see around him.

kendalldixcn‌:

“Look I’m all about beauty sleep but… you need to have time for shopping and spa treatments too,” Kendall mused. “Are you not getting enough sleep lately or something? Maybe take that up with the Hypnos kids.”

Emma made a face, she didn’t typically have time for that sort of stuff in the first place, if she did any ‘spa treatments’ as Kendall liked to call them, Emma only did it for her. “Not really,” Emma admitted, shaking her head, “No, no, I can deal with it, I don’t really need them to help me. It just gives me extra time to make sure we’re ready for... anything.” She spoke with a shrug, brushing it all off as if it wasn’t a big deal.

“No chance, Em,” Noah said, chuckling, “You’re going down.”

“Are you still going to be this confident when you lose? I just need to know so I know how much I’ll need to spare your feelings.”

“Did you know that Galapagos turtles sleep for 16 hours a day. I sure could do with being a Galapagos turtle right now.“

“Are you getting any coffee or are you just standing there? Please tell me it’s the first option.”

“I’ll have to think about it next time,” Noah said and then he grinned, “My team of course. I always lead them to victory.”

“Ah, right, of course,” She repeated with a small laugh, “Well, I hope you enjoyed your two weeks of victory because I’m back now, so...” Emma said, trailing off at the end. “I’ll be honest I don’t think this Friday will be much fun for you.”

“That depends,” James replied. “If we get put on the team with the Poseidon kids, they can ask the pegasi to bite anyone who comes near the flag, but if they’re on the opposite team, it might backfire.”

“I think we should get a backup plan in case they’re not on our team, I wouldn’t trust the pegasi as far as I could throw a rock.” She answered, separating a bit of the pastry in front of her. “We haven’t hidden near Zeus’s fist in a while,”

“Okay, okay, enough with the book talk, my brain is about to explode.” She took the book, and threw it across the room. “Let’s get to the real questions here, am I a cinnamon roll or a problematic fave?” ( @emmasreed​ )

Emma tried to stop the book throwing as it happened, but she was a bit too slow to catch it as it flew across the room. She sighed as she looked at Sophia, “You didn’t need to throw it,” Emma said, closing the book in front of her. It was clear they probably wouldn’t get any more research done today. “What’s the definition of each?” Emma asked, she could entertain this for a while.

“Well you can’t escape the taste or the raisin when it’s in things, so technically you were eating raisins,” Nix replied. She held out the box to Emma, “go wild.”

“See, I know that, but I don’t like to know that.” She said, it sounded silly but once Emma set her mind to something, even as little as disliking a certain type of food, it stuck to her. Emma reached over and grabbed one, popping it into her mouth. “Is it coated with something?”

Noah chuckled, “Alright, I’ll believe you this once,” He put an arm around her shoulder, “Come on, it’s nearly lunchtime. Let’s get food.”

Emma screwed up her face slightly, looking at him as they turned towards the door to start walking. “Just the once?” She asked, the arm around her mostly comforting, but it also meant she had to walk closer to him than usual, “So who won capture the flag last week?”

“Or we could just, I don’t know, ask them?” James said, taking a bite. “Besides they probably know we have a lot to offer when it comes to strategy.” 

“I suppose so, I just don’t want to take any chances. We’re not getting stuck with the Aphrodite kids again.” She said, shaking her head as she spoke. “I’m thinking we could hide the flag near the pegasus stables this time, what do you think?”

“I don’t mind either,” James replied. “We just need Noah’s cabin on our team. We have the brains, they have, well, the brawns.”

Emma nodded, reaching over a little on her side of the table to get her brother one of the strawberry gluten free friands, putting it on a plate and passing it to James, “Here, now you won’t starve.” She said with a laugh. “Maybe we could bribe them to be on our team. Seriously, I’m not losing again.”

“Aloe actually,” Sophia replied.

“Oh!,” She said, shocked at the answer as it wasn’t a plant she was thinking of. “Do those grow well here?”

Noah raised an eyebrow, “Thanks?” He phrased it as a question, “Did you just insult and compliment me at the same time?”

“Insult you? Why would I do that?” She asked, acting as if she was offended by it, “I missed you, I wouldn’t insult you after that. It was a pure compliment from the top of my heart.”

“They’re not that sour,” Nix shrugged. “I just like them. Don’t you have something you like that other people don’t?”

“Do you just eat them by themselves? I couldn’t do that, they’d have to be in something like a muffin...” Emma said, trailing off near the end as she mainly said it to herself. “I suppose so, I like licorice, most people don’t like that. Can I try one? I might have changed my mind on it.”
