also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.
oh to be loved by a calm and gentle man
I don't think adult humans get enough cuddles and I am so serious.
You look at almost any other species of mammal and they give each other physical affection all the time, but for some reason we've decided that physical affection when you're an adult should be exclusively romantic and to want frequent physical affection from your friends or family is strange or sus or a sign you actually view them romantically, and this can't be good for us I don't think.
"you were always such a good kid! we never had to worry about you :)" thanks! you actually should've, though. like about this specifically
People are so much more sad, and desparate, and lonely than you think. I have had three incidents in the last four months were a technician I was working with was being either dangerously unfocused (we work with high voltage), or just flat out angry with their coworkers, and every time when I just pulled them aside to say hey, this isn't you, you're nice, and you're competent, so something must be up - what can I do to help - they have responded by bursting into tears. One guy was struggling to get his wife moved into a care home, one guy just got served divorce papers, and the other hadn't slept a wink the night before because his daughter had the pukes.
I haven't spent my whole life responding to people being rude, or stupid, or dangerous with knee jerk compassion. It's a new habit. The first time I did that as the lead for my lab, it was because the guy genuinely was so good natured that I knew something had to be off. But the other two times were just me going, alright, lets see if it always goes this well, and so far, it has. I'm almost 30, and I just figured out that the #1 reason people are shitty are because they are going through shit.
I don't think you have, like, a moral obligation to respond to people being jerks with knee jerk compassion. But it has made my life so much easier the last four months that I would recommend trying. For your own sake. Please.
(I'll step off my soapbox now. Enjoy your Sunday.)
"He is always available. He's just waiting for you."

The people want wool products but it's expensive and 100% wool is hard to find.
Shepards have so much wool that it rots in piles and they can't even give it away for free.
Someone somewhere is scamming us.
Pope Leo XIV affirms that family is based on the union between a man and a woman and that the unborn has âinherent dignity,â according to NBC.
The Pope called on governments to build peaceful societies âby investing in the family, founded upon the stable union between a man and a woman.â
âIn addition, no one is exempted from striving to ensure respect for the dignity of every person, especially the most frail and vulnerable, from the unborn to the elderly, from the sick to the unemployed, citizens and immigrants alike,â he said.
"Pope parrots 2,000 year old Catholic teaching, people upset for some reason"
Bring back "the Lord works in mysterious ways"
"how can free will and God's omnipotence in his plan work simultaneously" girl the mysterious ways.
"you believe in biological evolution but you also believe that humans are inherently different from other animals because they're made in God's image how do you reckon He made them then" SAY IT WITH ME
what are you waiting for? someone to grant you permission? the perfect and permanent emotion? a shooting star to magic away every problem you have or ever have had? alright, wait away then. but no one is going to live your life for you while you wait to become someone else
people are upset at this post and i wanted to say something about it because it directly pertains to the reason i wrote it in the first place.
some are frustrated at the post because they believe they can't live their lives because they have adhd. some are angry at the post because they believe they can't live their lives because they have chronic pain.
i have adhd. i have chronic pain. i am disabled. i wrote this post, in part, to encourage myself to approach my life as it is and do what i can within it to make it my own. it's awful not being able to be the exact person i wanted to be. i still have a life anyway. it's different than i planned, but it's still my life. and no one will live it for me, so i might as well start doing the living myself.
if you're neurodivergent, have chronic pain, struggle with your mental health, and/or are in any way disabled, this sentiment absolutely applies to you and was written with you in mind.
it indescribably sucks when we have difficulty existing in our lives for whatever reason. said with the most love possible, it's still up to us to do what we can to make space for ourselves within the life that we're given.
Listen dipshit. I donât care if you canât afford groceries, I donât care if your landlord priced you out of your own home, and I certainly donât care that you canât find a new job that pays enough to live - the economy is doing great. Literally all of the graphs say so.
elective cosmetic surgery is the devil to me both as som1 who believes we are all made in God's image and also as sm1 who believes that like. The underlying insecurity will not go away. u need to learn some degree of self acceptance if u dont want to live a miserable life
