So...I wrote a book!
A Guide to the River Thames: Hunting for Treasure by Emmylou Vaxby is now available for preorder here: linktr.ee/a_guide_to_mudlarking.ev! Available on Foyles, Waterstones and Amazon!
It is the perfect guide to learning about mudlarking, what you can find on the River Thames and also a bit about the history of London.
It will arrive in all good bookshops on 30th June 2026 and I will hopefully be doing some sort of book launch too.
[It includes a foreword from Nicola White]
Somehow it is already the start of a new year and well into Winter so here is this season's podcast episode!
Excited to go on the first mudlark of the year soon,
Emmylou
Mudlarking in Winter
Mudlarking in Winter always comes with a challenge: the cold. Well, this week I went to a new mudlarking spot my 'Mudlarks Way' near the O2 and went for a hunt for some glass and pottery on the beach. Though it was not the most successful, I documented all of my beautiful finds in this week's new video.
Emmylou The Mudlark
Earlier this summer, I went to the Belgian coast and collected lots of seashells! I decided to share my little collection in this week's short video: Seashells and Sorting.
It also includes tips and other hobbies you might like to try out! See you at the next merry mudlark,
Emmylou
Mudlarking is a fantastic hobby which I want to share with you! Today I published this new video where you can learn more about it:
I found lots of finds today at Limehouse including many pipe bulbs! It is my lucky spot!
I will add the list of my finds to the 'discoveries' tab soon!
Emmylou The Mudlark
I recently went litter picking in Wapping and collected 2 bags of rubbish. I put some snapshots and lots of information about how you can help your local environment into this video as well!
(This is actually my 100th video!)
Happy picking!

Come mudlark with me!
This was the first mudlark of the Autumn and I found such an array of discoveries!
There were pipe stems, pieces of pottery, a seahorse and even a pipe bulb!
I will be going into more detail over each find on my 'discoveries' tab so check that out but in the mean time, my mudlarking method is above!
Hope you come mudlarking with me again!
Emmylou
And another season finished, so it's onto the next! This is my Autumn Episode where I share details about starting mudlarking, a short interview, beach combing and 2 poems!

It has now been over a year since I started my small little online shop inspired by mudlarking! I decided to make a video about what I make, how I do it and all that for you to watch on YouTube!
My next video will be the Autumn Podcast Episode: Larking, coming out September 21st! Make sure you subcribe to get notified everytime I post.

Beach Reviews
Hello everyone!
Though they have been a long time in the making, I finally launched the first 4 beach reviews!

See you later, North Sea.
As Summer draws to a close, I have said goodbye to the sea. Not forever - just until next Summer. It has been lovely sitting by the shore and feeling the waves make a splash against the sandy ground.
Sometimes people say that on a clear day, you can see across the North Sea onto the Belgian coast from our British Island which makes the link nice between my mudlarking and beach combing.
At some point in the near future, I will show you my mini seashell collection!
Finally, this Summer has had everything! A podcast, poems and a pinch of salt.
Until next year, my friend!
Emmylou The Mudlark
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
This Summer, while sitting by a lake and hearing the wind, I wrote two short poems and I decided to share them with you in a video! The link is above - make sure to like and subscribe if you enjoyed them to hear more in my upcoming 'larking' podcast at the end of September!
Emmylou The Mudlark
My podcast has launched!
This summer episode includes an exclusive interview with Benji Kontz (a nature photographer), eco-friendly beach tips, fun shoreline activities and more!
By the way, some of you might be wondering how the Wapping Shindig went - very well! SAS will be receiving their yearly profit donation from ETM Shop soon and plastic-pollution awareness has spread through East London!

One Day Left...
...till the Wapping Summer Shindig which takes place tomorrow!
Like I have mentioned before, I will be having a stall there where I sell my mudlarking creations and some of the profits will be donated to Surfers Against Sewage who are a charity helping to raise the water quality here in the UK and tackle single use plastics!
Hope to see you there!
Emmylou The Mudlark
As you may know, I will have a stall again at this year's annual Wapping Summer Shindig. I will be sharing information about Wapping's Plastic Free Community - our achievements so far, what we are planning on doing in the future and small booklets about Surfers Against Sewage will be available - and selling pottery pins, my sea creature collection and more (with percentages of the profits being donated to SAS after the event)*!
Since left-overs can be damaging to the planet, anything I don't sell will be available on my online shop later on: www.emmylouthemudlark.bigcartel.com! And if you wanted to be the first to know about these things, you can sign up to my monthly newsletter so you get the news right into your inbox!
From a mudlark to another,
Emmylou The Mudlark
*Card and cash will be accepted at the stall
I just sent out my latest newsletter! I talk about my 4 year mudlarking anniversary and the upcoming shindig! Here is the link to the email: JUNE NEWSLETTER / Next Shindig and collage (mailchi.mp)
However, if you want to get community updates, new artwork and more straight to your inbox, you can sign up to the mailing list here: http://eepurl.com/iHvvW2
