Nothing gives the same kind of random ego boost like managing to finally clean up your home and making it nice. Like ooh look at me, I'm living like people do, I made myself iced tea and I am eating my snack from a real plate. I got floors and shit.

Missing Community
I've been thinking a lot about the effect of social media and how it has impacted society. Yawn. But actually, I have been reflecting a lot on my interpersonal relationships with my friends and people in the world and the history of my relationship with social media. They exist on the same plane but serve different purposes. I'm 27, and I look back at age 12 and think about how infatuated I was with the concept of social media and the idea of meeting new people online. The sole reason for this was because of the difficulty of finding community for myself in real life. I think back at a lot of my friendships from when I was younger and how the way that I was "vulnerable" or "authentic" with the kids I would surround myself with, the more I would notice them turn around and betray me or, for lack of a better word, abandon, me or begin to exclude me from activities. The hurt was so detrimental, as you can imagine, and the idea of being able to pursue being social and also feeling like I still had a guard up, was the perfect scenario for me.
I'm 27 now, and I feel myself establishing the confidence and security to dabble in my interpersonal relationships with my friends in a new way that I hope will leave me feeling disinterested in continuing the constant use of my silly data apps on my phone. Ironically, here I am now talking to the ether because I feel like no one I personally know gives a flying fuck about my observations. But I digress.
Tiktok has been showing me a lot of videos asking the question of "Did social media ruin the importance of fostering community?" To that, I say yes! An example I saw that I appreciated was talking about whether or not your friends should be obligated to help you move. Personally? I think that if you're close enough friends, asking them to help you move shouldn't feel like such a taboo. For awhile, I would constantly ask my friends if they needed help moving, but no one ever took me up on it. Vice versa, I had a couple of my friends help me move back in 2018, and they have forever stayed on my gold star list just for showing up and selflessly helping out. That to me really shows the value of acts of service for the people you care for! That's community, that's friendship, that's love in its own form.
Did I mention I've been reading All About Love by Bell Hooks?

Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you 🔜! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long! Pre order 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on my site 😎
