To be completely honest, Chi had absolutely no idea where to look.

“Alright… I don’t know, probably laying on the ground somewhere?”

There were a lot of Tauros in the area. It would be a shame if one of them were startled. Thankfully, their team name wasn’t “Team Assholes”.

“Or maybe a Tauros has one?” he offers as a suggestion.

Skipper kept looking around the area, looking for something that might produce the desired Gummis.

“Hmm... both of those might be possible. If they’re on the ground it’d be easier. And I’d rather not startle one of them at the moment. But... if they do end up having some... I suppose it could be a backup plan.” he stated. “Maybe Gummis grow on trees?”

To be completely honest, Skipper could easily take on at least a couple of the Tauroses by himself. But all of them? That’s too much.

Skipper stood at the entrance to The Bull’s Stead. For a first mission, the description for this made it seemed really easy. All we need to do is get some Gummis? This’ll be a piece of cake!

“Come on, let’s get a move on.”

“…Just a gummi? Sounds simple enough.” Chi states.

The description did make it seem easy. He was a bit relieved that his team was starting with something simple, Chi didn’t want to get into anything too serious too quickly.

“Alright, coming! Let’s start looking.” he exclaims.

Skipper looked around the area, getting a grasp on his surroundings. There were many Tauros around, just like the description said.

“We better be careful not to startle them. I think we’ll be able to handle them, but not all of them, so we should still be careful. Allright?” he stated to Chi.

“Now to find some Purple Gummis. Where do you think they would be?” he asked.

“Well y’know, requests! From all the Pokemon! Get some cash for doing good to the people of this island!” The Chespin took a few quick stabs back for a better view. “Though it seems rather… Barren, that’s no good.”

He scratched at his cheek a few times. “I guess that’s the problem with a secret island, huh? You ain’t actually gonna… Find a lot of work, eh?”

“Well, I know that much.” Skipper said. “I do missions not for the reward, but to help those in need. To me, that’s the best reward.” he stated.

“Although... some money wouldn’t be a bad thought...”

“Hmm... it appears you would be correct. There doesn’t seem to be many missions available, or at the very least, not taken...”

“I-It seems we are assigned together. My name is Chi..” the Lucario stated.

Truth be told, Chi was a bit intimidated by the two–the both of them looked so strong. However, beyond that fear was a deep excitement that he desperately holds in so he can hold a good first impression, or the impression that he aims to achieve. He had a good feeling that the three of them would make a great team.

“I sincerely hope I can keep up with you two. Let us work hard together for here on out.” He says optimistically, holding his paw out.

“Quite right.” The Fire/Fighting Pokémon then put his hand on top of the Lucario’s, assuming that it was a team handshake.

“But first, I may have to warn you two of something. See, I have a belt that allows me to attain Mega Evolution. However, I do get a tad… “quirky”, so to speak, when I wear it. It’s kind of a split personality thing; I hope that neither of you would take that into much alarm or discomfort.“

Skipper placed one of his flippers on the other two’s hands, also assuming it’s their team handshake. “I’m sure the three of us will the best team out there.” he said. “We should make the best of it.”

“... Mega Evolution? I’ve never heard of that before... Regardless, It’s a good thing you told us now, we would’ve been in for a rough surprise if you hadn’t.”

Empoleon looked at the two faces in front of him. “So these are my new teammates I was assigned?” he thought to himself. “Hm.. they seem pretty good... but looks aren’t everything, I suppose.”

“Greetings, Blazikeese. I am Skipper.” He said, extending a flipper to the other.

The Empoleon was minding his own business when he heard very quiet sounding footsteps approaching him. He quickly turned around to see a jackal-like creature in front of him.

“State your business and your name.” He didn’t know who this guy was, and also the fact he seemed to have came from nowhere surprised him.

“Whoa, what? Joe always told me about you!” Scout’s eyes lit up, and was practically bouncing about on his toes. The legend in life, and he was able to see the other strut his stuff with his own eyes! Sure, he’d probably angered the large penguin, but it was a start.

Whoa. This guy is really, REALLY excited to talk to Skipper. Who is this kid, and who is this Joe he’s talking about?

“Ah... thank... you?” he wasn’t very sure who this kid was. “I must be pretty popular among your friends I suppose, huh?”

“Name’s Oswald, Grown-up!” How else were you supposed to answer to getting called a child? “What about yours though?”

“Unless you’d prefer to keep that stoic facade by not giving me a name.” The Chespin just shrugged lightly. “Either way, I could probably use some help figuring out how the facilities, so I’ll stick by you! Mutual gainship, like a real explorer!”

“My name is Skipper. I also go by Empy, but only by close people. Those are the only two names I will go by and answer to so don’t waste your breath using any others.”

The Empoleon crossed his flippers across his chest, “Well, lead the way, Oswald. I’ll be following behind you.”

Oswald quickly slapped a paw over his mouth, quieting any snickers he might make. Neither of those names exactly sounded… Serious.

“Well, alright, Skipper-dee!” The Chespin said, turning around to lead the way. His strides were overly emoted, legs raised high and arms being swung every which way. Luckily, this didn’t last very long as Oswald clonked into the mission board, stumbling back as he did.

“Oh, hey, I found what you were probably looking for!” The Chespin craned his head back, it looked like only one request was left up there, right now.

He caught those snickers. He stared down at this Oswald child when he was covering his laughs. He also bit his tongue at the “Skipper-dee” nickname.

“I have no time for jokers...” he thought to himself. Skipper followed behind Oswald and saw him bonk his head on the board. Now it was his turn to hide his chuckles. Oh how the tables have tabled...

“Hm... what do we have available here...” he said to really no one.

Really, he was just hoping to get some info out of the big penguin. “So, why not keep me by your side, we can find stuff out twice as quick!” He’d probably tag onto the first adventurer who managed to find their way deeper in the islands. Though, he still expected himself to be the first to find out how to get to the inner island.

“That would be correct. Although, I wouldn’t call it a ‘raid,’ more like an… ‘exploration.’ In the end, though, I am indeed just searching for the secret as well as everyone else on this island.”

“However, I plan on being the first one.”

… Is this little kid… offering to work with Empy? Just right out of the blue? He isn’t very used to working with others. “Hmm… I’d have to think about that offer.”

“We’re all explorers here! Why can’t it be that we work towards the same thing, but like, together?” Granted, he would still fight to get his name near the top of the papers.

“But, I do hope you ain’t going anywhere alone. Doesn’t matter about the fame! By then, you’re just risking your neck for very stupid reasons!” The Chespin gave an over exaggerated nod to hammer in the point. “No Explorer needs to be exploring if they can’t share the explorations with other Explorers, y’see?”

“Supposedly, when many people are informed of a secret, it stops being a secret.”

“I’m assuming you’re here because you also heard of this “secret.”

“Well, yeah, kinda! Secrets sound so cool, why wouldn’t I wanna come and find it for myself?” The Chespin’s quills folded back a bit. “Though if this place isn’t filled with secrets anymore, why are so many flocking here?” Oswald thought of going back, but a return trip would cost another pocketful of coin.

“Many people want to discover whatever the secret might be before anyone else does so they can feel good about themselves.”

“Frankly, I’m only here to learn about it, and once I learn as much as I can about this secret, then my goal will be to discover it, with or without someone by my side.”
