     They considered changing the subject, but decided the question was out of curiosity rather than anything too invasive.

     “Don’t really know, to be honest. Kind of just… made sense to do. Gave me something to do while I was hiding away.”

He was quiet for enough of a pause that it bordered on uncomfortable.  ❝ If it’s just something to pass the time, why not bid the pages to the sea once you’re finished? ❞ it made sense enough. If they weren’t keen on having their privacy breached-—wasn’t the safest route to simply ensure no one feasibly could?

The way Darcy let his gaze veer off is but one indicator that this wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have. It wasn’t not personal (though he didn’t care much if anyone took it that way)-—he just wasn’t a talker; he didn’t want to have a conversation with ANYONE on the ship.  

Tired eyes finally swept back to the man.  ❝ Only fools believe there’s a top to begin with. ❞ a bold statement that would warranted further elaboration. Only...it was Darcy and so he simply fell silent after that as if he felt that was enough to sustain whatever point he was trying to make.

I still have the stat HC in the drafts but Darcy is...not a good cook. Drinks? Like herbal teas and the like? Pretty damn good. Food???? Naaaah, it’s best to not let him in the kitchen. As far as his favorite dish to have? He loves a good stew. Meat and potatoes and other veggies? Real comforting stuff.

I’m old and I’ve been RPing forever and I am bad and I am cringe and I am free so this doesn’t SUPER bother me but I am already vERY aware that Darcy is dry and not talkative and reads very bORING to thread with at this point in time. I swear though he can be a chatty Cathy once he’s comfortable with you or if you talk with him about his interests. He has a personality I swear it’s just hidden under all of his smudged eyeliner.

Chapped lips parted to speak only to close again. Darcy’s brows furrowed and his expression became what could only be described as a hybrid of perplexed and vexed.  It was clear he wasn’t exactly PLEASED with the outcome of events. ❝ Noted. Negatively so. ❞

I’m thinking about how even though Darcy isn’t the most graceful or talented fighter, he throws himself into every duel and brawl like it’s his last-—like absolute tooth and nail, blood and sweat-—because he really has nothing else left to lose in his mind and in some aspects he’s kind of just already dead anyway so why not (see: he’s kind of just day to day’ing it with no real goal or purpose) It’s not recklessness for the sake of revenge or for the thrill or for glory or anything at all...it’s just a sheer apathy in regards to his potential,,,, well,,,,death. Darcy is kind of this steady force that just goes and what happens happens.
