EVE & CADENCE .

          EVE'S SPEAKING CADENCE  rotates randomly between slow & purposeful and incredibly fast , the tone of her voice typically soft regardless . when speaking to anyone eve tends to consider her words more than the average person , considering how each word and inflection of it might be received by the person she is speaking with , which tends to slow her down a bit more . eve is a firm believer that WORDS HAVE A GREATER POWER than most might think and the last thing she wants is to use hers in way that might hurt someone else .

          ON THE FLIP SIDE  of the same coin eve has a tendency to ramble . she does this when she feels as if her meaning has been misconstrued , though she'll do the same if she's incredibly excited as well . thoughts form in her brain so fast that she struggles to keep a hold on them and while that usually manifests in SEVERAL GENTLE PAUSES as she tries to form them into words , sometimes the opposite happens and all of her words come spilling out before she can sort or make sense of them .

          IT'S RARE FOR  her to raise her voice even when excited , usually only doing so when she desperately needs to capture someone's attention fast . it's also rare for her to mumble , having had drilled into her head how terribly annoying it is to mumble , which leaves her usually at a perfectly even speaking volume .

          NEGATIVITY IS ALSO  rarely reflected in her tone , despite the circumstances . eve feels uncomfortable showing those kinds of feelings in front of other people and has learned that keeping a level , kind tone can also be beneficial , even if it's only to be a source of comfort to everyone else . she's had her laugh compared to the sound of a bell before and her speaking voice is much the same : CHEERFUL AND LIGHT .

he did not mind. this was now work. and part of his job was ensuring that people like her were safe– of course, this all started as revenge. to slay the moon and its many wrongdoings. but for years, to see how those of innocence suffered beneath it just as his own kind had… well, it created a sentimental value not originally had. plus, look at her. she was gorgeous and friendly. she did not deserve the horrors of the moon. she deserved happiness.

though, these are rather strong concerns for someone he just met, no?

he listens, nodding along as she speaks. normally, these kinds of anomalies required the victim to pick-apart the rare mistake reflected in the temporal space. but it seems this one was haywire, creating multiple errors either by cause or incident.

’ i see… keen eye, i’m impressed. what this may mean is that the power of this anomaly is relatively low. if it’s aware of such a thing, then it will try to cover it up. how many do you remember counting in the first instance we walked into? ’ seems he had met a detective… could she… perhaps be the person he’s been looking for? he’d have to find out for himself.

          A KEEN EYE ? it was hard to miss the way her energy seemed to brighten upon his praise . when was the last time someone had told her she was impressive ? really , eve wasn't sure that was ever a word that could really be used to describe her . to have earned such a compliment ... she can't help but feel rather proud .

          ❝ it was...seventeen, for a while. ❞ eve's quick to answer , pausing and scanning her eyes along one of the rows of bricks that made up the wall to their right another time . ❝ then it was thirteen, which i thought was odd because the bricks were getting longer? i thought maybe all of the counting was putting a strain on my eyes, but... ❞

          AGAIN THIN FINGER  rose to point at the wall , ❝ ...now we're at fifteen. ❞ it might've been a small difference and maybe she really was miscounting , but ... something nagged at her . it felt like she was seeing something she wasn't supposed to . ❝ fifteen is a good number. it's not even, but...it feels... ❞ gnawing on her bottom lip slightly they pull tight as she considers how to put her thoughts into words . ❝ ...like a good rounded number. fifteen is a fairly easy number to multiply, if you were doing it by row? seventeen and thirteen aren't as easy? ❞

          ❝ maybe i'm just bad at math? ❞ words are quick to tumble from her mouth , wondering if what she thought was a good revelation was actually just something simple . maybe he'd figured it out a while ago and was just testing her ? it didn't ... feel that way, both his gaze and tone felt patient , but she couldn't be sure . her ankle twinges then and she can't help the way her face does in turn , exhaling through her nose , before that smile of her snaps back onto her lips in an effort to rid him of concern .

EVE & ANGER .

          ANGER IS AN  emotion that eve prefers to defamiliarize herself with as it's one she doesn't typically respond to positively from others . emotions can be masked but that doesn't mean they aren't felt . even so , anger isn't something so easy to stir in her . most of the time what's seen in her is frustration at it's strongest . the fastest way to frustrate her is to belittle or talk over her , treating her more like a set piece than someone who is actually capable of anything .           SHE WANTS TO  be helpful and prove herself to be an asset , so when she's denied the opportunity to do so the stubbornness comes out . whether its a matter of simply being underestimated or the other not wanting to put her out doesn't matter . the second her frustration is sparked all sense goes out the window , asserting herself into the situation regardless of risk or sense . normally flippant tone will become serious , leaving no room to argue . if she thinks you will , she'll skip over it entirely and go into action instead , consequences be damned .           FRUSTRATION MANIFESTS IN  huffs and furrowed brow . frustration can be brought about for herself , but...anger never truly can . eve is incapable of feeling angry for herself , believing that everything that comes her way she deserves . she truly believes that she is permanently atoning for things that were beyond her control , trying to fix what she deems her terrible karma . anger is something she can only dredge up for the people loves and she can become truly angry that they're being treated in ways that they don't deserve .           EVE CANNOT STAND  up for herself , but she will lay her life on the line literally or figuratively for the ones she loves . her anger is frightening in the way that it still remains kind , those faced with it likely feeling as if they're being met with THE DISAPPOINTED GAZE OF KARMA ITSELF . only standing her ground eve will not yell . no , she will only fix them with that gaze of hers , unblinking , waiting to see what move they make next and reacting in turn .
