Several federal NDP candidates have criticized the amount of force used by the Mounties in enforcing a court injunction.
A video posted on YouTube shows the RCMP using a great deal of force against peaceful protesters trying to protect an old-growth forest on Vancouver Island.
The Mounties used large amounts of pepper spray to enforce an injunction obtained by a logging company, Teal-Jones.
In addition, one of the protesters appears to have been punched by an officer while on the ground.
According to the Rainforest Flying Squad, one of the demonstrators was pepper sprayed in the mouth.

Cops also further rubbed the pepper spray in with their hands. There was also an rcmp officer who grabbed a woman on the front lines by her nipples to make her move saying “this is how we are trained to treat women on the front lines”. A friend of mine was pulled from a moving bicycle by their hair, were kicked until they rolled over, and then had their face held in the dirt. The violence is growing every day. Police are now threatening to use rubber bullets.
