@endoparasit liked for a starter
She was running. Not looking back. Just running, as fast as she could. She had to find somewhere safe, somewhere she could hide. Anywhere. She was quick at least, and she had a weapon just in case. She just knew that she had to get somewhere that she could catch her breath.
The alien could see her, of course. She was far, but not far enough that it couldn’t catch up with her. The forests of this world were devoid of any life other than plants -- and the occasional pod of errant spores which seemed to glow with a little bit more life than the moss or trees. The silence of the forest, however, made it much easier to hear the human’s breathing and footsteps. Much easier for it to track.

It hesitated. The human below seemed to change its attitude from the creaking. Slowly, and with calculated movements, it moved past the vent-grille, coming to an open space roughly above the human, separated by metal plating. Its footsteps were distant, and yet so close.
Daniels stayed completely still, waiting to hear any sort of movement. This wasn’t what she had been expecting. She had hoped for a safe and quiet voyage.Not one where she would be on edge. “Whoever the fuck you are, show yourself.”
The alien doubled back toward the grate upon that threat, sensing the fear in her voice. It pushed against the grate once again, this time sending it falling onto the floor. A pair of dark hands emerged from the vent, clawed fingers curling around the edges.

The creature plodded along the grates above the corridor, easing itself through vents and crawling to an access vent where the sounds were loudest. There, it could see. One of them!
It pushed. The creaking of metal, easing toward buckling under the pressure of the eight-foot-tall horror’s hands, almost immediately called attention to something being off.
She stopped for a second, and looked over her shoulder, nerves filling her. She bit her lip slightly and just stayed quiet. With a slow movement, she took hold of the closest gun and swallowed.
She let her breath quicken slightly and narrowed her eyes. Whatever it was, she knew that she was going to have to get rid of it.

The sounds. The voice from down the corridor. It didn’t seem to carry any meaning. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was that there were vocalizations at all.
The creature let out a low growl, quietly tracking the source of the sound.
Daniels went on humming to herself as she went through checks on the ship. She hadn’t noticed the other life form that had been picked up. Mother hadn’t even told her about it.
