the final chapters of orv to me are like this. youre feeling tired and insecure and your friend invited you to a party later tonight but you think they'll probably have more fun without you. so you fake sick and don't go. and you do that often enough with enough friends that you look back at your life and realize you never took a single person up on a single offer. and then you die and god hands you a big book and you open it and its full of every single time someone wished you were there. every single person who wanted to be with you longer, every old friend and passing acquaintance who wished they still knew you. every single person who you could have built a life with and didn't, and their life was colder as a result. and god says here is proof that you were loved and you say what do i do with this now. its too late. i missed it all. and god puts her hand on your shoulder and says you're not too late at all. the invite is still open. we're still here.
I always have to laugh a little when someone asks if ORV is BL. Because, like. On the one hand. It isn't a BL story, except in the most literal sense: It's a story about love, some of which is between men. It's just not a story about romance. But on the other hand:
Fellas, is it gay to be so obsessed with a guy that reading about him and watching him and rotating him like a TV dinner suffering the torments of Purgatory becomes The Cornerstone Of Your Entire (For Lack Of A Better Term) Mental Health? Or to be literally made for someone (because you are The Cornerstone Of His Entire (For Lack Of A Better Term) Mental Health), and then give up your happy ending just for a chance at meeting him again, and then when it's explained "Hey you get that you're signing up for thousands of years of unrelenting torment and this won't even necessarily work, right" and you go "Sounds good, thx š"?
(And on the other other hand, when you're going "I would rather see the destruction of the world than live without you in it," whether the feelings that inspired that level of unhinged devotion are romantic just feels kind of... irrelevant. You know?)
āIt seemed that no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't find a reason why [Kim Dokja] would love him.ā
- Chapter 169
The tragedy of regressing time and time again, losing yourself, for an unknown reason, only to find out that you did this to yourself. You Wanted This. You worshipped god so ardently you are now incapable of letting him go. This fate was wished upon you by youtself
women are constantly fantasizing about severing me from my divine light and keeping me as a personal and private idol purely for their own individual worship
iām doing it for the plot (creating a beautiful life for myself no matter the cost)
dandelions are magic. literally tiny suns in the grass that turn into the moon and then the stars when you blow on them. fucking insane.
Fucking insane
holy shit
Maria SkÅodowska-Curie's notebooks are crazy once you think about it. They're so radioactive they have to be sealed in a lead box. Imagine a world where atomic theory is forgotten and a dude just goes "yea there's a book that details the secrets of the universe, the machinations of the creation of existence down to its barest essentials, but if you get close to it you fucking die. The more you read it the more your body slowly disassembles into mush." like wat excuse me
Orv has done so much for me because every time I start thinking that if I just die maybe Iāll get to be happy in my next life itās like who am I, Yoo Joonghyuk? That sunfish bastard? Yeah right, go find joy in the people around you, maybe youāll find a purpose or something
everything, everywhere, all at once
In the grand tapestry of existence, the multiverse and time are not separate forces but two interwoven threads, intricately bound to one another. The structure of reality, then, can be envisioned not as a linear pathway or even a branching tree, but as a vast and fluid networkāone where every timeline is both a singular entity and an extension of countless others.
You sprayed a bit of water from the sink, watching it land on their face with a mischievous grin. The cold droplets splashed across their skin, and you couldnāt help but laugh, the sound light and carefree. But before you could even enjoy the moment, you felt a flick of water land on your cheek. Surprised, you gasped, your eyes wide as the glistening droplets caught the light, and you turned to see their eyes sparkling with playful mischief. The water fight had begun.
the thing about orv is that it's the world's longest, craziest, most elaborate scheme to trick you into loving yourself. and it works.
Oh that you could dream so long and so beautifully, that you could weave a tapestry of words in your mind, the power of stories and stars embedded in each letter, imprinted on every heart, that your creations could come to love you so dearly that they might defy the ending you wrote to truth, and break the barrier between worlds to bring you back home.
Fading
It's not enough to call your knight a "good boy". Sometimes you've got to hit him with a "you're the only one worthy to sit at my feet".
Bro, we are cooked. The knight that dogs the prince's shadow like a dark and silent wraith just knelt to press his forehead to the prince's hand. Yeah, now he's uttering a prayer whose recipient is ostensibly God but in reality is the deified version of the prince that exists only in his mind. Aaand the prince just caressed his cheek to preemptively grant him absolution. I gotta... I gotta get out of here.
I was thinking in orv, everything happened because kim dokja had never been able to deny him anything. He had always indulged yoo joonghyuk. this was actually highlighted in on the world of zero. the 0th regression. it was the best possible ending, the one without betrayal, suffering, and pain. but when his yoo joonghyuk, his beautiful lovely protagonist ask for the stigma, asked to meet him, kdj cannot deny him. He had always give him everything he wanted.
