"You neednāt fear, Milord. For wherever you tread, Demacia will follow. Such is your birth right. So shall it be. Fear not for our home. For the Light will shine always upon the Just."Ā
A pause.Ā
"I have located Darius⦠My Lord⦠allow me to put a stop to his plan."
"My birth is not the question here! I will lead my nation for it's kin, for the soldiers that need my aid, for the people who must be defended! Do not dwell on my actions, or my fate. It is for the greater good that we strive! So long as we uphold that, even in death, we are victorious!"
His tone grew dark at his friend's words, but his words held the death sentence.
"Then you know what you must do, Captain."
"The brothers and sisters of Demacia slowly converge upon this city. I fear for our nation, but we cannot allow our comrade in arms to bear the weight of such a heavy mission on his own."
"My Lordā¦. Iā¦. I did not think the threat of war would⦠Be so apparent. I⦠failed youā¦. with my decisionā¦"Ā
"Vigilance is key, Garen. You must eye your allies just as much as your enemies. Come my friend; we must rise to the occasion now. You will be my lance in this coming battle..."
"The eve of war is thick in the airā¦And I have yet to assemble the Champions⦠Darius⦠This will not end well."Ā
"Do you still hold that belief in the truce you've made, Garen? Noxians cannot be trusted."
"I have very little to offer as of now. In my Ā current state, I cannot hope to lead. However..."
"I will stand against the Hand Of Swain with every breath in my body, and by my command, I lead any other champions who would heed my call against him as well. Noxus will not have this city."
{ā„}} - āOh.. Well.. I guess that is kinda understandable. I mean, Iām sort of an independent faction.. Eh. Iāll just worry about that one later. Anyways! Thereās a whole heap of champs here, but you probably knew that already. Everyone is sorta keeping to their groups though.. When I say that, itās really just Noxians sticking to Noxians.ā
A shrug. Ahriās not fussed in the end, as long as she doesnāt die she doesnāt really care what everyone does. Ā
"Oh yeah, I know about it completely. Sometimes, it feels like Iām the only one supportive of his decisions.. But, thatās probably cause heās a Demacian and you know how most people feel about them.. No offence, I mean. I donāt have anything against you!ā A shift of her eyes. This wasnāt going as well as she intended. āAnyway, uh.. Uhm.. Do you want me to walk you to where he works? So then youāll know where it is. Even if heās not there, Iām sure heād be back soon enough.ā Ā
"Yes. The Noxians I am well aware of."
The venom in his voice was as thick as one could suspect, and for a brief moment, his eyes narrowed with malicious intent. Just as quickly as it went, it was gone, replaced with his previous look. It could not be lost on him just how many of his enemies were within these city walls, but that would be remedied in due time.
"No, I understand your intent. One cannot hope to become a King without accepting that opinions will differ from yours. However, Garen was always a man to complete his task by the books in the most straightforward fashion he can manage, so it is worrisome. Though, It seems he may have found a different way in the end. Perhaps this world has helped him in some way."
He paused for a moment, a light chuckle passing through his lips.
"The idea of Garen partaking in work beyond being a soldier is rather amusing. If you could offer such a kindness, I would be grateful."
"Cease with these actions! Slavery is abominable and using it in jest is foul!"
Garen tightened his stance. He exhaled into his scarf. There was no way around it⦠though now he was certain that maybe some things could change given the current situation. Garen was always able to speak freely to his Prince. It wouldnāt change now.Ā
"My Lord. Darius and I have come to a short term truce. By combating the Noxians I needlessly placed myself in a position where I would fight two fronts, both of which were at the time⦠insurmountable obstacles. The small peace allowed that given the time I allowed, Darius would not halt my mission. In return⦠he would help the Champions return⦠But only if he would be allowed his considered resignation from the League."
Garen exhaled again. Brief mention was made that Darius may also return. But he doubted some of it.Ā
"ā¦Whatās more. I have relieved the Champion⦠Talon Du Couteau of his services from the League. He presented a position far too problematic to be concerned with at the time. I thought this would be best."Ā
Garenās grip tightened further, his nails digging into his palms hard enough to draw blood. He was afraid. Afraid of upsetting his Prince, afraid that his need for compromise would be seen as weakness, as betrayal.Ā
"⦠My Lord⦠if I may state my reasoning I⦠I feel as if united, the Champions poise a greater threat to the scientists. We of the League of Legends can stand together, as we have in the Riftā¦! My Lord, forgive me. I do not sympathize with Ā our enemy Nationās goals⦠but I aam instead doing as I see best for the mission at hand⦠United we may stand together."Ā
The Prince was silent as he listened to his companion, a look of cold stoicism masking his features as he absorbed the information given to him. The Noxians did not seek to return to Noxus or the League at all? The assassin was understandable, perhaps, but Darius of all men to give up his home and country that he fought so ardently for? It simply seemed Ā too far fetched to be real.
Yet he did not doubt the Captain's words, for doubting one of his only allies was something that would inevitably lead to his own downfall. He knew Garen's actions were for the best considering the odds he had to face, so he could not blame him for something that sat so wrong with the prince. He heaved a sigh as he finally responded
"Garen, you ask for forgiveness as though it would be in question whether or not I would grant it to you. You are my companion and my friend. Though, I cannot say I agree with your choices, I will respect them for the time being. One step at a time is how we shall come to grips with the situation as complex as this. Do not fear, my friend. You will have to explain this yourself when we return, but I stand by your decision."
For now.
It was then the Captain made pause. He had come to a certain understanding with the enemy General. But He knew his Prince was no man for compromise. Total Victory. In battle, in Ā the League, in all aspects. Total victory must be achieved, in the face of Noxians. The Captainās fists tightened. How was he to persuade his Lord, his Prince, his friend?Ā
How was he to tell him that they needed the collective power of the Championsā¦? All of themā¦? Let alone his pardoning and dispatching Talon of serviceā¦
He was an Emissary of the Institute⦠but he was also a soldier of Demacia.Ā
"My Lord⦠You honor me again and again⦠It is true, with so many enemies in lieu of allies⦠I had grown⦠destitute. But There are far worse things to fight than Noxians."
A somber smile spread quickly across Garenās face.Ā
"I am honored to have you as my reinforcement my Lord. Honored and relieved. I will not fail you. But there are⦠instances I must brief you upon."
The Prince took note of the hesitance in Garen's tone, and was taken slightly aback by it. Garen was a man of great loyalty, willing to brave the very fires of hell to see his mission through; if something was enough to halt him, it was of great concern. He listened carefully, trying to discover something from the other's words, but it seemed he would have to be patient to discover the truth.
He nodded his head at Garen's words. Undoubtedly, there would be much that he had no idea of just yet, especially considering the extended departures of some of the known champions (a certain Noxian general was first in foremost in his mind), so it would be within his best interests to hear his friend out before making any brash actions.
"I was not fool enough to believe that matters were simple. They never are with Noxian's involved, and even less so with these Scientists. However, perhaps we should take this conversation elsewhere. Such topics seem to require a bit more privacy."
[Unfinish] Jarvan IV by zionenciel
"Life⦠isnāt so bad. I suppose."
"Life is as grand as you make of it. Perhaps you have forgotten that!"
Demacian Bros are back together again.

Now this was an individual that left Jarvan in a very difficult mindset. At first glance, it was simple enough; she was one of the faces of Noxus, extremely devout to the wretched realm, and one who had killed more Demacians than anyone wished to keep count of.
However, she was also one of the most outspoken ambassadors of such a realm, one that he had actually protested alongside with in the past. In addition, though mysterious it may have been, she did have a history with Garen, which at least meant that if anyone should strike out at her, it would be the Might of Demacia. It certainly didn't hurt that while none could match Jarvan's loathing toward Swain, Katarina did come very close...
"Katarina Du Couteau. Every time you depart, it seems Noxus loses quite a bit of it's already lacking reason. Are you here to offer me a proper Noxian greeting, or is this merely pleasantry?"
Garen went to drop unto his knee to respect his Lord and Heir to the throne, but before he could do so he was pulled into an embrace that he had long since forgotten. As he was taken in by his brother he couldnāt help but feel a surge of emotion rush through him. But he wouldnāt dare betray his emotions of happiness with tears. He only smiled as widelyĀ as the other.Ā
"My Brother. Far too long I fear⦠ Had I only completed my mission with ease⦠I would have returned sooner. Forgive me, my lord. I did not wish to fail our country soā¦. spectacularlyā¦"
Even should the Captain have knelt, the prince would not have allowed him to remain so. Garen had been a stalwart friend and ally, not only to him but Demacia as a whole. Jarvan owed his life to the man opposite to him; should any man be considered equal to the Exemplar of Demacia, it would certainly be him.Ā
"You need not worry of such things, my friend. Though tidings from this world have been few, I have been made aware of how tireless your charge has been. Do not fear failure, Garen.Ā So long as the strength of your conviction to our home lies behind your endeavors, I would never doubt the success of your actions. However, with Noxian's at work, I was implored to join you here. Certaintly, you could do with an ally or two against the likes of the Sinister Blade and the Hand of Swain."
"...I suppose I should become accustomed to the absurdities in this city."

And thus the first step of his work had been completed, as a genuine smile crossed the Prince's face. In a few strides, he had crossed the distance between himself and the Might of Demacia, pulling the other man into a brotherly embrace - for even as a Prince, Jarvan would forever see his childhood friend with joy. Stepping back, he kept a hand upon the other's pauldron, his voice restrained but notably lighter.
"Garen! It has been quite some time! More than I expected honestly!"
{ā„}} - Well then. She felt a bit of an idiot. He came with a purpose, not just randomly kidnapped like some of them. A part of her wanted to just leave now with the knowledge that he had his own objective, but she may as well stick around and try to help him at least.
"Wait.. What do you mean, silent on that āĀ ? Well, I guess thatās not really the point.. Anyways. My shift doesnāt start until later tonight, so right now youāve got all my time! What do you want help with, huh?ā
"If you wanna find Garen, I can give you directions to the Inn we work at. Iām not sure if heās there right now though, ācause he deals with all the errands and deliveries.ā
"The Elders of Ionia have been keeping in contact with the League, as have many other nations, concerning the disappearance of their champions. Neither you nor the Samurai, Yasuo, were mentioned. Perhaps they assumed that the two of you disappeared for your own reasons, or you were intentionally unmentioned. Either way, it is a surprise to see you here."
His tone did not change, but there was the slightest touch of suspicion underlying his words, not aimed at her, but at the aforementioned Elders. When she mentioned Garen, however, the smallest of smiles crossed his face, and his demeanor seemed to ease up considerably.
"Yes, that is it. He and I are here on the same mission. I suppose you know about it. He was never one for subtlety."
