I don't know about you, but I find the high school sweetheart love stories to have that little extra spark to them. There is something about knowing he or she is the one at such a young age. While many of us feel as if we should live out or golden years (teens and 20's), Therese and Adam took an alternative route.
"We met in school, and it took us about two years of beating around the bush until we finally decided to be together."
After almost a decade of being in a relationship, Therese and Adam decided to get engaged. It wasn't, however, your typical down on one knee proposal.
"We always knew we were going to get married, but never really discussed when. That same year, our best friends got married, and when we looked at the wedding invitation we both thought that maybe it's time for us to go all in. The time was right and all."
As the couple got busy preparing and planning for their big day, there was still no proper engagement. One day, the couple went out to look for rings. Therese found a simple but perfect 20 carat white gold engagement ring.
One day over dinner, Adam went down on one knee and popped the question.
"Even though I knew what the ring looked like, my heart was still racing," Therese said.
All the wedding plans were arranged and financed by the couple themselves and the theme for their big day was black and white. 'Til this day, the guests are still talking about how delicious the food was," said Therese.
"We both have large families and loads of friends but unfortunately we couldn't invite everyone to the wedding which totaled 80 guests."
"Adam never got to see my dress prior to walking down the aisle and we decided to spend the night before apart, for old traditions sake. I was super nervous walking down the aisle. Not because I was wondering if I was making the right decision, but because I'm naturally whimsy and thought I'd trip over my dress."
After Therese walked down the aisle to "Ave Maria" playing, the wedding itself was a total success with a rehearsed dance and a romantic night spent at a hotel suite (with rose pedals and chilled champagne) which Adam had picked out.
The honeymoon was well spent in Antigua followed by a baby boy a year after their wedding day.The couple currently reside in their home in Sweden, where the wedding also took place.
If this isn't a fairytale wedding to sob over, I don't know what.
A toast to Mr. and Mrs. Lundstedt!Â
