This started as a doodle at work from a month ago, but after seeing how much was happening in it, I chose to ink it! âCause otherwise the pencil would smudge and then itâd just be a big olâ mess :T
But yeah I just wanted to draw Hale covered in yordles :V
Whoâre these yordles, you ask? Well let me tell you! We got:
@engineer-hali, @veigarthevileâs OC (I donât know his name My apologies;; ), @yordle-journalist, @drawingsdrawingseverywhereâs Spud @gears-of-change, @drills-of-defianceâs Cecily (by request of @snowycompassion!), @hardofhearingmagiâs Olive, @hobos-for-hireâs Melon, and, last but not least, @freljord-le (Did you expect otherwise? :L)
Thanks to everyone for lettinâ me draw your doods! Iâm probably going to do another one of these very soon. I love this kind of stuff :L
/* Thank ya for drawinâ muh bean again, she looks so cute :D /**/

A Winterâs Storm
@engineer-hali (original post)
âWhy did I choose to walk to this place?â The yordle engineer complains to herself as she follows the roads towards her destination: A manor quite a ways from the Avarosian city of Rakelstake. âOh, itâs only a few miles out of town, and I could use the exercise. Now itâs snowing and I canât see the five feet in front of me. Take this as a lesson, Hali. Exercise is evil and will get you killed. Just stay home. Where itâs warm. And you donât have to deal with anything more threatening than thunderstorms.â
But as the wind picks up, Hali slowly becomes disoriented, wandering further and further from the path. Trying to avoid getting even more lost than she already is, the engineer makes a small fire to keep warm under the cover of some of the nearby evergreens.
The fire would keep her warm in the tundraâs bitter cold, but certainly not keep her safe from the dangers that dwelled nearby.
The troll had been sitting against this tree for a few hours now, just about, with nothing but the chilled winds and swaying trees filling the air around him. It was far too long for the restless brute to be left alone with nothing to do. Even he began to wonder if he would fall asleep for once in this dull stillness â until the smell of burning wood wafted his way.
It was not often that he would catch the scent of smoke this time of year. The peculiar instance took a moment to click, but when it did he looked left, right, and even up for any signs of the source before rolling to his feet and setting out to find it. It was not long at all before he crept upon the small foreigner.
At first sight of the flames he tucked himself close to a brush and hid, soon peering out to try and see who sat beside it.
Hali shivered as the frozen winds buffeted her and her tiny little campfire. Even with the goggles, the engineer canât see more than a few feet around her, so sheâs completely oblivious to the trollâs presence...well, except the smell. So she makes herself as small as possible, hoping that the fire and her jacket keep her warm enough while whatever is hunting her loses interest.
"Hey Ice Queen." (engineer-hali)
The woman looks up from her book in answer to the familiar voice, raising her eyebrow with surprise.  âHali?  How novel.  I didnât have to come and drag you out of your workshop this time.  Finally deciding to get out more?â  She holds up her hand to forestall an immediate response.  âNo.  Wait.  That canât be right.  Shurima hasnât frozen over yet.  Which meansâŚâ she shuts her book.  ââŚyou have a reason for being here.
âThen to answer your question, Docâs probably still looking for you. Â I donât think this is something sheâd let slide as long as she has any say in the matter.â Â She gives her friend an apologetic smile. Â âJust being honest, Iâm afraid.â
The yordle sighs. âDonât suppose you want to follow and spare me the wrath of the angry aunt, do you?â She tosses back the rest of the drink and hops down off the couch, heading for the door.

The banking heiress returns with a measured pouch of gold and sets it on the couch next to her diminutive friend. Â â100 pieces. Â Consider the extra as overhead, or an advance on that fancy dinner youâre after,â she jests, picking up her glass and returning to her own place on the couch.
âDone. Iâll be back in a week to drop them off.â She sets the gold and the devices aside. âDo you think Doc has stopped looking for me, yet?â
âIÂ would guess that it depends on why she was after you in the first place,â she says, thoughtfully sipping on her drink. Â âWhat was Doc trying to get you to do?â
âItâs uhâŚmy cousinâs wedding in a couple days. I donât feel like going all the way back to Bandle just to come right back.â The already tiny engineer seems to shrink at the question. âThat and Iâd have to dress up andâŚâ
âAh. Â Family obligations,â Marie says with an understanding nod. Â âOr is it the dresses?â she asks with a note of amusement.
âTheyâre so uuuglyâ Hali shudders. âI love my family, but I donât love them enough to make the trek just to wear an ugly dress.â

âShowmeâ Hali barks, overly excited. When the mage brought her the gauntlets, she sighed. âYeah, no. Any additional power output would be extremely limited. I can make you turn Shurima into the Freljord if youâll let me take these back home.â
âOkay, now you sound like the merchant,â Marie chuckles.  âAre you certain youâre not exaggerating just smidgen?â
âMaybe not the ENTIRITY of Shurima, but a good chunk of it.â Hali says dismissively. âBasically, heâs loaded it with low-quality crystals, that arenât even being used by the mechanisms.â The engineer points out where the error was. âI intend to rework the mechanisms, and then give you crystals that are worth a damn.â
âFair enough. Â Consider yourself commissioned, Hali,â Marie says, standing up and setting her drink aside. Â She heads for her bedroom, where she has access to her safe and the small stash of gold she has there. Â âHow much would you get for something like this, with no discounts?â she calls out so the yordle can hear her clearly form the lounge.
âA fancy dinner with the hottest of yordle supermodelsâ Hali snarks. â25 for the crystals and 15 for the parts? and...Round up to an hour of work fees...60 gold.â

âSoda, if you have any.â The yordle shouts into the other room, before ranting. âBut I do! I worked directly with professor Ziggs for 2 years while getting my doctorate. I work for 15 companies fixing the most complex things. You saw! Remember Neo? It doesnât get any more complex than fixing sentient AI. And I did it without even knowing!â The yordle engineer groans in frustration. âIf I could get her to stay still for one week. I could secure that position, for sureâ
Her cooler did indeed have *some* soda.  It wasnât something she kept around for herself, but Hali was a frequent enough visitor for her to keep a small bottle or two on hand.  Pouring the drink, she returns to the lounge and lowers the glass down for her friend. âYou know Neoâs got her own twist on wanderlust driving her.  Trying to keep her in one place is an exercise in futility.  Unless you enjoy electroshock âtherapyâ.â  Marie unbuttons her coat with one hand and takes a seat on her large couch.  âLook⌠If thereâs something I can do to grease the wheels, let me know.  Iâm not my mother, but I have some pull I can leverage if you need me to.â
âNot looking for handouts.â The engineer sighs. âTheyâll either listen to me, or they wonât. So far it looks like âwonâtâ so Iâll have to deal with it until they do. Iâm making enough to pay for rent and pay on my loan when I do work. Itâs just that they only call me when cataclysms are occurring. Not when Doc Roe comes calling.â
Too stubborn to accept help. Â In that sense, Hali was very much a miniature mirror of her own attitude. Â How many times had Marie turned down assistance simply because she felt she had things managed alone? Â Probably too many, she muses to herself, a smile tugging at her lips as she sips her drink in momentary silence. âItâs not a handout, Hali. Â But if itâs important to you, I wonât do anything you donât want me to.â
âSo have you bought anything new you want me to take apar- I mean...uh...tell you how it works?â She asks, giving you a not-so-innocent smile
