"You're a dead man walking."
Leon Kennedy - Resident Evil Requiem
EVERYTHINGâS (ALMOST) IN ITS RIGHT PLACE
syn. Hiromi Higuruma realizes only years after the breakup and becoming a lawyer that heâs still missing one thing in life: you. authorâs note. slight angst w good ending. sfw. proofread. made for my wife @suganoms / lainey, please support them and their works :)
"Thank you, come back again soon!"
The door closed with a ding! as a tired Hiromi Higuruma dragged his feet along the wet pavement.Â
Another long day at the office had brought him another long night. Cases piled up faster than fruit flies on rotten fruit. Exhaustion was just another piece of clothing he wore on the daily aside from the suit and tie and black suede shoes.Â
Brief case in one hand, takeout in the other. The bright lights of the city glimmered more under the layer of rain that the sky brought down in a gentle downpour.Â
Hiromi heaves a long sigh as he took a look at his watch. 21:13. A couple more minutes until the last bus of the night arrives at his usual stop.Â
He drags his feet along the floor, staring at his shoes as it picks up rainwater. When did these pointless nights begin? All he does is sit and exist back at his place. The last spontaneous moment he had was back during his undergrad years. When he had someone by his side to enjoy the silence with.
However after many missed dates and growing distance in the relationship, he called it quits after his first year of law school. Instead of fostering relationships, he grew connections. Studied until his brain felt like it was going to rot. Made legal jargon his second language.Â
Worst mistake of his life.
He looked up just as he recognized the colorful signs in his peripheral. Up ahead, just a couple meters away, was the bench. The bus sign. But a small, hooded figure also stood there. Great, what an awkwardâ
The hooded head turned a little and he stopped dead in his tracks, dropping his briefcase at his side. Wearing wired earbuds that lead straight to a pocket and a reusable red bag in one hand, was you. The person who made silence comfortable.
"Shitshitshitâ" He whispered panickedly as he scrambled to pick up his briefcase. He looked up as his breath quickened, noting how you were distracted reading a sign. It's been years since he's seen you. Sure he checked your socials almost all the time but he's finally seeing you.
'No. I need to get out.' He turned on his heel, his grip on the plastic bag and briefcase turned his knuckles white. 'I can still leave while she still hasn't seen meâ'
"Hiromi?"Â
He froze and felt his breath hitch. He spun around and felt raindrops run down his face. After years apart, he finally saw your beautiful face, etched with surprise at seeing him. You were loosely holding an earbud in one hand, the red bag sitting on the floor beside you.
"Are you taking the bus?" You called out.
"Iâ" He looked down at his hands and then up at you again.Â
"Your food is going to be cold and wet if you don't take the bus," you waved him over and he walked back towards you. He felt the need to just pace around, run past you and forget this ever happened. But he felt his urge to be nearer to you much harder to fight.Â
Just as he reached you, the bus pulled up in front of you both.Â
"After you," you gestured towards the doors as they opened, and he gave a curt nod and made his way up and sat in the first row. You followed behind him and sat right next to him.
The doors closed and the bus jerked forward into gears.
Despite the rush of blood roaring in his ears, his heart pounding hard against his rib cage, and the slight tremors in his fingers as he hugged his bags, he manages to clear his throat and speak.
"What's in your bag?"
"A knitted blanket," you shrugged as you replied casually. "It's handmade after so many years of working on it. I'm just trying to find its owner."
A grin crept on his face and he looked at you. "Strange of you to be looking for its owner,"Â
You gave a small smile and nodded towards his take out bag. "Is that still your usual order?"
"Yeah," he carefully pulls out a small sushi container and gestures towards you. "You can have some if you want,"
You take it from him and open it, helping him eat some pieces too.
There it was. The comfortable silence.
The bus slowed to a stop and opened its creaky doors to the cold air. An elderly lady stepped off, and you just leaned in slightly to Hiromi's touch, letting your arm brush more against his. Just as the bus took off, you looked ahead and began conversing with him.
"Was it worth it?"
"What was?" He asked as he tucked the empty box away in the bag again.
"The breakup," you clarified, shifting and clearing your throat a bit. He froze and stared straight down as you continued. "I remember all your big ambitions as you started law school and well⌠did you get to do everything you wanted?"
When he didn't answer automatically you looked at him and he held his head down, staring at his shoes. His brow furrowed in what made it seem like regret more than deep thought.
"Hiromi?" you asked softly.
"Almost everything," he replied.Â
The bus creaked to a halt at a stop and you gathered the red bag in your hands as you hummed.Â
"I hope you get everything soon then," you rose and Hiromi watched you, something close to hope lingered in his eyes.
"Thanks," he gave a small smile. "Nice seeing you again,"
'Please stay.'
You gave a small wave and smiled. "You too. My number hasn't changed, so reach out for anything okay?"
"I will,"Â
'Follow her. Now.'
He stared at you as you still stood there, mouth not moving, but he looked into your eyes and read the words it couldn't speak. He looked at your knuckles, white as it gripped the handles.Â
'Why are you nervous?'
"Okay bye," you spun on your heel and quickly made your way off. He stared at the doors as you vanished into the neighborhood. He kept his eyes on your figure as you stood there, rigid and unmoving in the rain.
The bus roared to life and creaked its doors shut.Â
'Stay on the bus, Hiromi, stay on,'Â
He shakily exhaled. To his left was your seat, empty and cold, and in its wake left an unpleasant and bitter silence. He stared straight ahead as the bus approached a stop, and his mind reached a conclusion.
Hiromi Higurama had almost everything. But if he gets off now, he'll have it all.
"Goddamn it," he cursed under his breath and stood up to pull the string overhead. The bus screamed as it stopped. He ran past the creaky doors and stepped into the misty air, calling your name.Â
Turns out that you were still there, and when you turned to face him, your eyes were glossed and shiny with tears. He rushed towards you and stood in front of you.
"I lied," he breathed.
"What?" You smiled despite the sadness that weighed down on your heart. "About what?"
"Having everything," he rubbed his face with both hands and then put his hands on your shoulders, and he gently squeezed them to anchor both himself and his thoughts.Â
"I don't have your balls of yarn hidden in the corners of my couch. I don't have any text messages from you. I don't have a snore to wake me up at inconvenient hours at night. I don't have everything because you have it."
Your eyes widened and you both stared at each other. A comfortable, stunning silence.
"You are my everything," Hiromi breathed and he cupped your face in his hands gently, letting his thumbs caress your cheeks. "And nothing felt complete anymore without you there to see it,"
You gave a wide smile and laughed, dropped your red bag onto the floor and cupped his face too.
"And you had to do this in the rain?"
He mirrored your teary eyes happiness with a teary smile of his own.
"I didn't trust myself to let you go again,"
You reached down, and pulled a knitted brown blanket out from the bag and pulled you and him under it as the mist began a gentle down pour.Â
"Then we can talk more at my place, I don't live too far from here," you said as you tugged your side of the blanket down to cover you more. Hiromi put an arm around your waist and tugged his corner on the left to shield himself from the rain.
"I don't want you to deliver this blanket to its owner all soaked though," he huffed as you both quickly made your way down the wet sidewalk.
"It's the one I tried to make you in undergrad, so don't worry, its owner has been found."

plot: reader is feeling depressed so she texts leon asking him to come over
It's gotten bad again. You sent your boyfriend a text: "Baby, can you come over?" He responded immediately, as if he was waiting for you to text. "On my way."
15 minutes later, the doorbell rang. He lived close but not too close. Gosh, did he overspeed? You opened the door, hair messy, eyebags, overworn pajamas. He stood there, slightly out of breath, eyes soft and searching your face.
He gently pulled you into a hug. "My angelâŚ" he kissed your cheek while rubbing your head. You couldn't help but tear up. He hugged you tighter. "Shh. I'm here. It's okay." He always comforts you because he can't stand seeing you like this.
You went into your bed with him. He pulled you closer, wrapping himself around you like the safest place in the world, peppering your shoulders with kisses. Your head rested on his chest, breathing in his cologne. "We'll stay like this for a while, then I'll wash your hair, make you dinner, and we're gonna watch whatever you want. Okay?" He kissed your head softly, his lips lingering just a moment longer.
"Okay." You said quietly. Your tears slowed down at his words. Then you tilted your head up to look at him. "I love you." That's all you said. And that was all he needed.
"I love you more, angel." He gave a small, lingering, soft kiss on your lips while tucking your messy hair behind your ear. "I'll always be there for you. You're my everything. Never forget that.â He pulled back, brushing your cheekbone with his thumb, then your lips, sensing you.
You nodded at him, then tucked your head back into his chest, breathing him in, feeling the steady warmth of him. It was safe. "There you go." He rubbed your back softly.
"If this is the last breath I take, then it won't be in vain as long as I spend it near you."

Summary : This was supposed to be an easy assignment. Just another mission with you; his one sided crush: it was supposed to go like -- kill zombies, gather information, go back to hq and all done. At least, that's what Leon thought was supposed to happen.
But when unexpectedly Leon gets hurt and the moment he lay there, fatally injured, feeling his strength slipping away; none of it mattered anymore.
Because in those final moments, all he could think about was you. And the love he had carried in silence for years.

Note : English ISNT my native language; so expect grammatical errors, spelling mistake; or sentence issues, this is my second request! And I really had fun writing it, thank you anon for your request!
Doing this oneshot, based on this request, thank you for giving me such a wonderful idea, anon. Expect mistakes and badly written stuff đĽ˛
Leon checked his phone for what felt like the millionth time, only to find it was still 3:47 a.m. He groaned loudly and threw his phone beside him, and felt already exhausted despite not having done anything.Â
Because he was supposed to be asleep by now and wake up around 6 am, for the mission, leave his apartment by 7 a.m. and reach the assigned location by 8 a.m. sharp.
Yet as he lay in bed with his back pressed against the mattress and his phone abandoned beside his pillow, all he could do was watch the minutes crawl by at an agonizing pace.Â
Damn it.
Because for Leon, this wasn't just another mission. It was more than that. It was a mission with you as his partner, his one-sided love. And God, right now he felt like some fourteen-year-old kid waiting for the next day so he could go on a picnic date with his crush.
Except it wasn't a date.
Hell, it wasn't even close to one.
It was just a routine mission that happened to be assigned to both of you.
Which rarely happened, much to Leon's disappointment, and he never had the guts to ask why.Â
Instead, he pretended it didn't bother him. Pretended he didn't look forward to every mission with you a little too much.
Pretended he wasn't secretly checking assignment lists in hopes of seeing your name beside his. But every time it happened, every time the two of you were paired together, Leon found himself looking forward to the mission far more than he should have.Â
And the fact that a twenty-seven-year-old man was acting like this.. was honestly embarrassing, but what else was he supposed to do?
But for six long years, Leon had been acting like this pathetic idiot whenever it came to you.
With a long, tired sigh, he finally sat up in one fluid motion, the bedsheets shifting with him as he settled at the edge of the bed. Resting his elbows on his knees, and slowly he buried his face in his hands for a moment before rubbing them down his features.Â
But then a thought tugged at him. Maybe he could at least make himself a coffee or two and get ready early. It wasn't like he was getting any more sleep anyway.Â
So, without wasting another second, he pushed himself out of bed and wandered around his apartment, trying to keep himself occupied. Yet no matter what he did, the same thought crept into his mind again and again.
It wasn't his fault.
Not really.

Summary - Waking up beside your husband: Leon, every morning was a feeling not even the seven heavens above could compete with.
And as you lay there beside him, watching the quiet rise and fall of his chest, all you could feel was utterly enchanted by beautiful scene before you.
WC : 1.3k
As soft morning light filtered through the blinds of your bedroom, brushing your skin in pale gold, your eyes slowly fluttered open.
And a sleepy sound escaped your lips as you turned your head toward the bear of a man sleeping beside you.
Leon was literally completely out of it.
And somehow that made you far too aware of him. Then you rolled over on your side, beneath the blankets, taking your time as you admired him.
God. He looked gorgeous like this. His messy blond hair had fallen across his forehead during the night, stubborn strands sticking out in every direction.
His soft brown freckles decorated his pale skin, scattered across his nose and cheeks like tiny constellations. And you smile faintly as you notice his nose scrunched lazily before relaxing again, while his ridiculously long lashes rested against his eyes.
You groaned at the sight, then your eyes traveled to down to his lips and you were actually shocked; because of how good they looked at first thing in the morning. You simply stared at them for a bit and the sight before you made your heart swell pleasantly against your ribs.
And a soft hum escaped you as you reached across the duvet and gently brushed your fingers against his cheek, tracing his skin softly.
But of course he didn't react.
And that alone gave you a beautiful idea.

Plot: A harmless TikTok trend turned into complete chaos when you and Leon decided to test whether your five-year-old son would share his cookies. The challenge seemed simple: Sammy got two cookies, Leon got one, and you got none. What neither of you expected was for Sammy to devise the most efficient solution possible. As Leon questioned his sonâs understanding of sharing, you found yourself crying with laughter at the realization that Sammy had inherited far more of his fatherâs personality than either of you had anticipated. The first sign that something was about to go terribly wrong should have been the look on your face. Leon noticed it immediately. You were curled up beside him on the couch, phone in hand, scrolling through TikTok with the kind of concentration usually reserved for classified government files. Every few seconds, a grin tugged at your lips. That was never a good sign. âWhat?â Leon asked, not looking up from the report he was pretending to read. You didn't answer. Instead, your grin widened. Leon sighed. âWhat? â He repeated, finally looking at you. âOh, this is perfect.â The grin got worse. âThat's not an answer.â You finally looked up at him, eyes sparkling with the exact same expression you wore whenever you had an idea that would somehow become his problem. âBabe.â You said, already shifting in your spot. âNo.â He said immediately. âI haven't even said anything yet.â You complained. âYou don't need to.â

a/n: look at those puppy eyes, no one would take him seriously đđ my babieee // FLUFF AND HUMOR. Also I havenât written much this past month so if this isnât good Iâm sorry</3
Pink balloons spelling BRIDE OF THE PARTY decorated your apartment. Glitter and metallic tassels littered the floor as your small group of girl friends celebrated your best friend's last few weeks of freedom before tying the knot.
To say your apartment had disrupted the peace and quiet of the complex wouldâve been an understatement. Music pulsed through the walls while laughter rose above it, filling the space with enough noise to make the ice in your drink clink against the sides of the cup. It didnât seem excessively loud to you, just lively enough for a small gathering. But someone down the hall clearly felt otherwise, because before long, the police were on their way.
Three firm knocks cut through the music and chatter, echoing across the room.
As Maid of Honor, and consequently the least drunk person present, it fell to you to answer the door.
"Oh my God," one of your friends gasped. "Don't tell me you hired a stripper."
"No? Maybe?" the bride said through a fit of laughter. "I don't remember." The room erupted into giggles before returning to the far more important task of taking shots.
Rolling your eyes, you crossed the living room, weaving around discarded heels and half-empty cocktail glasses.
The first thing you noticed wasn't the navy blue uniform, or the tag name spelling L.S. Kennedy, or the badge clipped to his chest, but his face. Soft features, bright blue eyes framed by absurdly long lashes, a stupidly charming deep cleft chin and dirty-blond hair that looked almost perfectly tousled beneath the dim hallway lights.
There was simply no way that man looked intimidating enough to be a cop.
Behind you, someone immediately blurted, "Oh my God, he's cute!â
The uniformed man shifted awkwardly in the hallway.
"Uh... miss?" His voice snapped you out of your staring.
"Oh. Right. Sorry." You blinked and finally took in the rest of him. The vest, the handcuffs, the radio.
So he was truly a stripper.
"Miss," Officer Kennedy tried again.
You glanced over your shoulder to take a look at the bride-to-be and the rest of your friends who had gathered behind you, peering around your frame with barely contained excitement.
Before you could say anything, one of them gasped.
"You actually hired one! I always wanted to be with a man in uniform, theyâre so hot." The apartment erupted in excited screams.
The fake officer's eyes widened. Looking increasingly alarmed, he glanced between you and the crowd packed into the apartment.
"No, no, I'm not-" His gaze dropped to the handcuffs hanging from his belt, and understanding flashed across his face.
"I'm actually a police officer," he said quickly.
The sincerity in his voice was almost enough to make you feel bad.
Almost.
"How much extra do they charge for the police package?" another girl called from somewhere behind you and the room dissolved into hysterical laughter.
"Officer," you said quickly.
You straightened, and the poor man's shoulders visibly relaxed.
Before he could respond, you noticed his attention shift past you. His gaze swept over the mess of your apartment: the table cluttered with empty bottles, half-finished cocktails, and scattered shot glasses. Around it, your friends sat in various stages of intoxication, red-faced and giggling.
His eyes lingered for a moment before returning to you, apparently identifying you as the only semi-sober person in the room.
"Would you mind stepping out into the hallway with me for a moment?"
"Of course, Officer." You slipped outside and pulled the door mostly shut behind you, muting the laughter and shrieks from within.
"We don't like bothering people in their homes," he said. "But we've received multiple noise complaints from your neighbors."
You gave a small nod. "I understand. I'll take care of it."
"I'd appreciate that, maâam." Then he added, "Look, I'm not looking to write anyone a citation tonight. Just keep the noise down. If we get called back, the conversation may be different."
"Understood, I apologize for the inconvenience." You offered him your most innocent smile.
"Good."
The conversation should have ended there. Instead, someone inside your apartment yelled, "Ask if he does birthdays too!"
Officer Kennedy closed his eyes for a brief second, as though praying for patience.
The corners of your mouth twitched.
He opened his eyes again and regarded you for a moment, his expression serious, though not entirely unfriendly.
As if on cue, the apartment door opened a fraction of an inch.
Three of your friends were immediately visible, stacked on top of each other as they attempted to spy through the gap. The moment they realized both you and Officer Kennedy were staring directly at them, the door slammed shut.
A chorus of muffled screams erupted from inside.
"HE SAW US!"
"I TOLD YOU HE'D SEE US!"
"Was he smiling? Do you think he thinks sheâs hot?"
Officer Kennedy looked away, but not before you caught the smile pulling at the corner of his mouth. You noticed then that he was younger than you'd first assumed, not much older than you, if at all.
And he looked really cute when he smiled.
Before you could think of something to say, the apartment door suddenly flew open.
Your friend Liv stumbled into the hallway with a wicked grin spread across her face.
"Liv," you warned immediately, but she ignored you.
"Mr. Officer, thank you so much for responding to the noise complaint. We'll keep it down.â She offered her hand, and the officer took it with confusion, giving a strange look at the meeting of their hands.
"Good. I better get going." He said dryly.
"And if you need to come back later... for any reasonâŚ"
"Liv, please donât." You pleaded with her.
Your friend Liv stumbled into the hallway, a wicked grin already spreading across her face.
"Liv," you warned immediately, but she ignored you.
"Officer, thank you so much for responding to the noise complaint. We'll keep it down."
She stuck out her hand; Officer Kennedy hesitated for a fraction of a second before taking it. A flicker of confusion crossed his face as he glanced down at their joined hands.
"Good. Then I should probably get going," he said dryly.
"Absolutely," Liv agreed.
Then she pointed between the two of you.
"But if you need to come back later for any reason whatsoever..."
"Liv, please don't." She shot you an innocent look.
"I think someone would be very happy to answer the door." Liv said, looking at you with a big toothy smile.
You wanted the floor to open beneath you and swallow you whole.
The officer coughed suspiciously into his fist, clearly hiding a laugh.
Liv beamed.
"Anyway, goodnight!" Then she disappeared back into the apartment and slammed the door behind her.
Silence. Painful, humiliating silence.
"I can arrest her myself if that helps." Slowly, you turned back toward him.
He laughed, the sound warm and genuine.
"I don't think that's how it works."
"Worth a shot." You said avoiding looking at his eyes in embarrassment.
His smile lingered but then he took a reluctant step backward toward the elevator.
"Just keep the noise down."
"Will do."
"And good luck with the babysitting."
"Officer, I think I'm going to need backup." You sighed dramatically.
His eyes finally met yours, and you immediately noticed his cheeks had a hint of rosiness. Was he embarrassed as well? Cute.
"Backup, huh?"
"I've got ten highly intoxicated women in there trying to plan a wedding." You tilted your head toward the apartment.
"I'd say the situation is pretty serious." His smile widened.
You shouldn't have noticed how good he looked when he smiled. Unfortunately, you did.
He took another step toward the elevator, and then paused.
"Actually..." Your pulse skipped as you watched him reach into a small pocket on his vest. "You might want this." He held out a business card.
Confused, you took it. Before you could look at it, he lifted the folded scrap of paper Liv had slipped into his hand during their handshake.
"Since your friend gave me this."
Heat immediately rushed to your face when you noticed the scrap of paper had your phone number scrawled across it.
"Oh my God." Mortification washed over you.
"I was wondering why she insisted on shaking my hand."
Neither of you looked away. There was too much to say and no appropriate way to say any of it, and the fact that you were half-drunk wasn't helping.
Your gaze dropped to the business card in your hand, slightly tracing the printed letters with your thumb before looking up again.
Leon S. Kennedy.
His eyes were still on you as the elevator doors began to slide shut.
Just before they closed, he nodded toward the card. "Text me when the hostages are safely contained."
A laugh escaped you, but you nodded in agreement.
"Goodnight. Try not to get arrested before I hear from you. "
"Goodnight, Officer Leon Kennedy."
The doors slid shut, and not even 5 seconds later the apartment door flew open behind you.
"HE FLIRTED WITH YOU!"
A swarm of women spilled into the hallway. Liv was at the front of the pack, looking entirely too pleased with herself.
"HE WANTS YOU SO BAD."
"Oh my God," another friend groaned. "Did you see the way he looked at her?"
"He gave her his number!"
"He told her to text him!"
"But are you going to text him?"
"No."
"You're lying."
"I am."
The screaming started again before the door had even closed.

The faucet leaks gently onto the sink, a rhythmic tap-tap-tap echoing off of the walls. Your knuckles are turning white with how tightly you're gripping the porcelain. The stone digs into your palms almost painfully. You still don't let go. The bathroom mirror is fogged over. Your silhouette is a cloud of colours under texture, blending with the smooth monotone tiles of the walls. It looked like how you felt: a swirl of hues lacking detail and vigour, not clear enough to see. Not clear enough for anything, really. Just not enough. Never enough. You bite your lip as saltine droplets pool over your lash line. The steady sink slips from under your grip and you stumble, stepping back just in time to avoid a fall.
Stupid.Â
Stupid stupid stupid-
A loud ringtone resounds in your ear right as you close the bathroom door. The phone is heavy in your hands, your footfalls even heavier. Sliding up against a couch pillow, you clear your throat and muster something other than a tear-streaked scowl as you glance at the Caller ID.
âŚZayne?
The dam nearly breaks twice. There's a dull throb in your head as you hold back the sobs, throat constricting painfully. These tears were different, though. You could count on one hand the number of people in your life who had ever made you feel like you were someone worth more than an afterthought. Someone worth more than being categorised as a simple existence in a sea of mediocrity dubbed by social conventions.
Someone worth more than being thought of as less, if thought of at all.
You watch as the melody from your phone ebbs away and your screen darkensâ before brightening almost immediately, ringtone louder than ever.
You're quick to swipe on green this time.
Zayne's dulcet voice is laced with concern. "You didn't pick up my call. Are you upset?"
Trying to mask the roughness of your vocal chords, you reply softly. "Donât worry about it. Thereâs, um, thereâs something I need to tell you, though."
"I'm on my way home. If it is serious we should talk about it in person."Â
âO-oh,â you stutter, deftly wiping your eyes with the back of your hand. Hold it together. âOkay.âÂ
âSee you soon, my love.â
"See you soon, Zaynie."
Barely ten minutes pass before you hear the mechanical clicks of your front door unlocking. You wave from the couch, lips stretched in a smile. Zayne beelines straight for your general direction, shrugging off his coat while pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead. You canât help but giggle when you feel him nudge a warm drink into your palm.
âCoffee at 10PM?â
He sidles up beside you, holding an identical paper cup. âThis is hot chocolate from that French bakery you like.â
âDid you get this before or after you assumed we were going to have a serious talk?â
A small smile plays on his lips. âBefore, of course.â
You laugh. âOf course.â
There is a peaceful silence that follows, broken momentarily by the soft shuffle of the paper cup as you bring it to your lips. The dense chocolate bursts on your tongue, thick and gooey. It warms you from the inside out like a tender caress, easing the soreness of your throat and the cold that had settled in your chest.
Sinking deeper into the couch, you catch Zayne's expectant gaze.
"Right, so...I justâŚI just wanted to say thank you, you know?" You take a deep breath, forcing yourself to meet his eyes. "Thank you for always being so⌠appreciative. So affectionate and so kind to me. You love me in a way that's likeâ like this warm hug I can just melt inâ and I'm so thankful, Zayne. It means everything to me."
You mean this so sincerely that you can feel the return of the waterworks. Blinking away the intruders, you bite your lip to focus on a different sensation.
âIt just⌠It just always feels like everyone around me thinks Iâm thisâŚsubstandard sort of person. And maybe I am?â
Zayne gazes at you with all the softness of the world, listening intently.
âI feel like I'm bad at everything I do, if not terrible, and I donât know if Iâve even been like more than average at anything but when Iâm with you, itâs like none of that even matters." Cradling the paper cup, you thumb at the protective lining, feeling the seams of the fragile cardboard. âYouâre the only one who makes me feel this way. Andâ and I just wanted to say thank you for that. Thank you so much, Zayne. That's all.â Pursing your lips, you take a nervous sip of the hot chocolate. It's lukewarm now. You feel the softer tendrils of warmth ebb away to a quiet frost. You steal a look at the man beside you, only to be met with an expression that's utterly unreadable. The soft smile he was sporting prior is absolutely wiped from his face. Did you do something wrong? You shift your gaze to the paper cup, and then to the TV console. Hell, you could hear the cicadas outside. This silence, characteristic as it was, felt more like an anvil being dropped on your chest than anything.
There's one thing left to do. Damage control.
You mentally gear up, ready to dismiss the depth of your confession and repackage it's messageâ but Zayne beats you to it.
"Y/N,"
Uh oh.
"Yeah?"
His voice is laced with a sternness you don't often get to hear. "How long have you been carrying such a fallacious belief?"
"I...uh, I wouldn't say it's a just a belief? This is how it's always been, Zayne."
He quietly slips his slender fingers into your own, thumb rubbing along the backside of your palm. You lean in by habit, shoulders brushing, head falling to rest on the arch of his shirt-clad shoulder.
"You are wrong." Zayne states.
"What?" "Some say the odds of running into your soulmate are 1 in 10,000, however..."
You fail to hold in your giggle. "Soulmate, huh?"
Zayne clears his throat. You smile, feeling his cheek press on the top of your head as he continues. "However, if we factor in the size of the global population, age ranges, geography, and mutual attraction, the probability of crossing paths with that exact, single person in our lifetime is mathematically considered near impossible. In addition, we had special circumstances, so I'd argue it truly was intended to be impossible."
You hum in thought. "So against all odds, I met you."
"Correct. Against all odds, I met you."
"So you're saying that I'm an anomaly?"
"I'm saying that you're extraordinary. That you're the antonym of everything you just described yourself as. That you're not defined by the words of people who are blind to your incredible character. That you're one in a billion, Y/N, and there is nothing in this world that could prove me otherwise."
If Zayne was facing you right now, he'd definitely glimpse the rosy blush that had powdered itself across your cheeks. You're left gaping like a fish out of water, a familiar warmth blooming in your chest. Great. Now you're hyperaware of how close you two are. You're leaning on his shoulder and his chin is resting tenderly on your head, hands laced together with one free to hold your respective cups. He smells good, you think. Like antiseptic and an earthy kind of cologne.
Zayne squeezes your hand. "I am as appreciative as my sincerity allows me to be. I should be thanking you, Y/N."
He pauses.
You don't see the tips of his ears redden, or the timid smile that involuntarily shapes itself on his lips. But you do hear his voice shift to an almost-whisper, slow and careful. "I can no longer imagine a life without you by my side." Zayne confesses.
You feel him press a gentle kiss to the crown of your head, and then another.
"You're everything. There is no story, no universe I would rather be in than this one... with you. And only you."

Whale-watching tour with Leon
â reader loves animals deeply leon and reader are married, pure fluff. â di or re9 leon but can be any â i wrote this during a cetacean biology class lol
The apartment is quiet except for the soft hum of the TV, thereâs some nature documentary playing softly. You and Leon barely pay attention to it anymore.
Youâre curled comfortably against Leonâs side on the couch, with some peanuts while he scrolls lazily through his phone.
His free hand lazily caresses your arm and his lips often meet the top of your head, your shampoo clouding his senses.
¨Whatâs your favourite animal?¨ He asks suddenly.
You glance up immediately with your eyebrow slightly risen.
¨Thatâs randomâŚÂ¨
Leon shrugs without looking away from his phone.
¨Surprise me.¨
You think for a second before smiling softly.
¨Whales.¨
That finally makes him look up from his phone and at you, as you are already looking at him.
¨Whales?¨ Leon repeats, taken by surprise at your answer.
You laugh softly curling even more against his chest.
¨Yeah, whales.¨
¨Why?¨
Your expression softens instantly and look down at the bowl resting over your lap.Â
¨Theyâre really emotional animals.¨ You murmur. ¨They have strong family bonds. Some species even stay connected for life.¨
Leon watches you softly. Your words sink in. His lips curl into a soft smile, he understands now why they are your favorite animals. Theyâre just like you.
¨They protect each other a lot too,¨ You continue quietly.¨ especially the babies.¨
Something warm settles inside Leonâs chest. You always got softer talking about things you loved.
¨Plus!¨ you grin suddenly, looking back at him¨ Baby whales are sooo cute.¨
Leon huffs softly through his nose.Â
¨Cute until they sink your boat.¨
¨They donât sink boats!¨ You scoff playfully.Â
¨Iâm tellinâ you right now, if I ever see one in real life, Iâm keepin my distance.¨Â
You laugh.
¨Coward.¨
Leon immediately pulls you closer against his chest.Â
¨Iâm just smart.¨
You roll your eyes before giving him a soft kiss. You grab the TV remote control and change it to something more entertaining.
Little did you know Leonâs is preparing a big surprise.
Months later, cold ocean wind whips softly through your hair while the boat rocks gently beneath your feet.
You still havenât fully recovered from realizing where Leon brought you.
¨You remembered,¨ you murmur for probably the fifth time that morning.
Leon leans lazily against the railing beside you wearing sunglasses and a dark jacket. A huge contrast to your bright orange bikini set.
¨You say I have memory problems.¨
¨You barely remember where your car keys are.¨
¨Thatâs different.¨
Your laugh mixes softly with the sound of waves around the boat. Youâve barely stopped smiling since you got out of the plane.
You look at the crystal clear water in front of you, the sun reflecting against it. Everything around you screams calm. Except the excitement in your stomach.
¨Youâre excited.¨
You glance up at him immediately.Â
¨Of course!¨
A faint smirk pulls at the corner of his mouth.
¨Youâve talked about whales more these last two days than normal people talk about their families.¨
Leon snorts softly.
The guide toward the front of the boat continues explaining migration patterns to the group nearby.Â
¨Remember everybody, sightings arenât guaranteed today.¨ You overhear the guide. Your expression falls immediately.
¨Told you,¨ He murmurs softly beside you, caressing your arm. ¨Oceanâs kinda big. Thereâs a chance your giant sea cows donât show up.¨Â
You gasp quietly.
¨They are not cows!¨
¨They are huge.¨
¨They are more than that.¨ You argue.
¨They are still huge.¨
You smile softly before opening your mouth to argue again. Then suddenly.Â
A massive spray of water erupts in the distance. The entire boat goes silent.
Your heart skips a beat and you swore you could cry at the excitement you feel in your chest.Â
Your hand grabs Leonâs sleeve instantly.
¨Oh my god.¨
A whale breaches partially through the water. Huge, swimming gracefully.
Your entire body freezes beside him. Leon physically feels your grip tighten around his arm.
¨No wayâŚÂ¨ You whisper breathlessly.Â
Leon feels his shoulder relax, almost letting out a sigh. Heâs been praying that you get to see the whales today. Heâd actually feel disappointed if you both didnât.
The guide starts talking excitedly nearby but you barely hear any of it.
Another shape surfaces beside the whales. Way smaller. A baby whale.
Your entire face softens quickly, your lips turn into a small pout it almost hurts Leon to look at it.
He glances between the whales and your expression. The whales, mildly terrifying. You, completely enchanted.
The calf surfaces closer this time. A soft rush of air leaves its blowhole before it disappears beneath the water again, circling lazily near the boat.Â
You almost fly to the edge of the boat, gripping the metal bar tightly.
¨Leon,¨ You whisper, like speaking too loud might scare them away. ¨Itâs so little. A little baby.
You laugh softly under your breath, without looking away from the water. The small sound of water can be heard as the baby whale surfaces curiously again.Â
The people on the boat gasp quietly while cameras start clicking somewhere behind you.Â
Meanwhile Leon watches the mother. A huge shadow beneath the water. Calm yet ever watchful.
¨Sheâs definitely judging us.¨ He mutters quietly.
You look back at him. ¨Sheâs literally just existing,¨
¨She could flip this boat if she wanted.¨
¨Youâre scared of whales?¨
¨Iâm respectful of creatures that weight more than military vehicles.¨ You laugh. Leon could listen to that sound forever.
The calf is now beside the railing youâre standing on. It makes a soft clicking noise to its mother, which answers loudly.Â
Your entire face melts instantly, you have to cover your mouth.
¨Oh my God, did you hear that.¨
Leon nods slightly.Â
You lean slightly over the railing carefully, completely fascinated now. Waving like an idiot to the calf beneath you.Â
¨Hi baby.¨ You kneel down, your hand still on the metal bar, whispering to the baby whale, youâre pretty sure people around you think youâre crazy. ¨Hi sweet boy¨
Leon slowly turns his head towards you.
The calf makes a soft clicking noise while surfacing again. Your hand immediately flies to your chest.Â
¨You are SO cute.¨ You continue emotionally, almost like talking to a baby. ¨Yes, yes you are. Perfect baby. Sweet angel.¨
Leon blinks. Completely speechless.Â
The whale calf circles in front of you. Making you melt over the railing.
¨I love you sososososo much.¨ You whisper dramatically towards the ocean creature.
He stares at you in complete disbelief. Youâve always been this way with animals. Everytime you both see a puppy at the park you always gotta whisper sweet things to it like it's yours.
¨That thing could flip this boat over.¨
You gasp quietly without taking your eyes off the whale.Â
¨Donât say that in front of him.¨
¨Him?¨ Leon repeats. ¨You assigned it a gender already?¨
¨Well, he feels like a boy.¨
¨The whale feels like a boy?¨
¨Mhm.¨ You nod.
Leon drags a hand slowly down his face.
The calf surfaces again closer this time making another curious sound towards the boat.
You open your mouth slightly.
¨Oh my God, he talked to me, Leon!¨
Leon lets out a stunned laugh.
¨Look at this little face.¨
¨Baby, that thing is bigger than you.¨ He blinks, pointing at the baby.Â
¨And yet heâs still a baby.¨
¨Theyâre so social.¨ You speak a bit louder this time. ¨Especially calves. They learn from their mothers constantly.¨
Your voice carries the same warmth from months ago on the couch. The same softness. Leon still remembers every word.
The calf makes another small sound, almost answering back making your heart skip a beat. You feel like a Disney princess.
¨Leon,¨ You whisper. ¨Do you realize how lucky we are right now?¨
Leon watches you instead of the whales. ¨Starting to.¨
The baby swims closer to its mother again, brushing gently to her side as they both swim closer to the boat this time.
Your hand immediately flies to your chest.
¨Oh my God,¨ You mumble. ¨I canât handle this.¨
Leon laughs quietly under his breath.
¨Yes, you can.¨
¨No, I actually canât.¨ You turn towards him, still knelt down. ¨This changed me as a person.¨
¨That dramatic, huh?¨ He crosses his arms.
¨You donât understand.¨ You point emotionally towards the whales. ¨Look at them.¨
Leon obediently looks back at the giant ocean creatures, both of them capable of destroying the boat.Â
The calf swims close to its mother now, brushing its head gently across its mother fin.
Then he looks back at you.
Your expression softens softly at the gentle action of the calf.
¨Leon.¨ You look up at him with complete sincerity. ¨I want a baby.¨
He nearly chokes on absolutely nothing.Â
¨What?¨
You gesture dramatically towards the whales again.
¨Look at THEM.¨
¨I am lookinâ at them.¨
¨Now I want a baby.¨
Leon stares at you silently while the ocean breeze blows your hair softly. His hand slides over his mouth trying to hide the laugh escaping him.
¨You canât just say things like that outta nowhere, sweety.¨
¨Iâm having an emotional experience.¨ You say, defending yourself.
¨Youâre havinâ a whale-induced baby fever.¨
¨Yeah.¨ At least youâre honest.
Leonâs eyes drift toward the mother whale swimming beside her calf. And then, to the happiness tainting your face.
Both, mother and calf, make a small sound before disappearing beneath the water.
Leon looks at the whales for another second before looking back at you. At the excitement still glowing across your face.
He feels content. The whole trip was for this, not only the whales but for you. About seeing you happy.
His hand slides quietly into yours, his warm fingers intertwined with yours. He helps you stand up
It takes you by surprise. You turn at him immediately. Leon shrugs softly.
¨Figured whale expert needed some emotional support.¨
Your smile turns unbearably soft.Â
¨Thank you for bringing me here, baby.¨
Leonâs chest tightens at the softness of your voice.Â
¨Yeah, baby.¨ He murmurs quietly against your lips ¨Worth it.¨ He says, before finally locking his lips with yours in a soft kiss.

THIS IS SO PRECIOUS đŤśđťđŤśđťđŤśđť
Resident Evil Fic Recs
Updated 5/24/2026
Leon Kennedy
Your Wittle Face: After a traumatic year, you and Leon are finally getting the hang of mending your relationship again. When he thinks heâs changed so much he must be unapproachable, you remind him heâs not so far off from that adorable, doughy faced rookie cop you met in 1998.
The Work Dilf: After a long day of work at the dso, you were streaming when a subscriber admits they embarrassed themselves in front of a crush. To make them feel better, you tell them about the time you embarrassed yourself in front of an older agent, who you just so happened to have a fat crush on.
Break Room Coffee: You meet Leon Kennedy at work, the absolute last place you should be looking to date anyone. Too bad you're a sucker for blue eyes and vaguely pathetic-looking men.
Oh, Fuck: Leon is dying. The virus is spreading. When he collapses, he's sure he's done for. Luckily enough for him, you won't let that happen.
Shot In The Dark: A late night at the firing range forces you, a weapons maintenance technician, to cross paths with Leon, the top DSO agent. There's an undeniable pull between the two of you. But who will be the first to pull the trigger?
The Way He Loves: Leon does not deliver grand speeches about love. Instead, he shows it through action.
Always Yours: Leon doesn't do jealousy, except when it comes to you.
When are you going to have kids: No matter what you do, people keep asking you when you're going to have a child, and it's starting to take its toll.
Mrs Dot Kennedy: After finishing his most recent mission, Leon can finally focus on making amends with you years after the divorce.
Just A Touch Of Your Love: Leon is touch-starved. Of course, he would never show this in public, but as soon as the two of you are alone, he can't help but crave your touch.
Fever Flirting: You've come down with a fever, and Leon decided you were more important than work.
Lovers Rock: 4 times the team notices something's up with Leon and the 1 time they figure it out (spoiler: he's married)
Warm (sequel)
Salt & Pepper: You have worked in the DSO for almost a year now, doing logistics and communications. You preferred the quiet and being behind a screen. However, Sherry believed that working as an assistant for Leon would benefit not only you, but him too. So you were now assigned as Leon S. Kennedy's assistant. Both of you had your own problems, and it was only a matter of time until either one of you was going to crash.
Part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Hot and Sexy Leon Smut: Literally what the title says
You're Stuck With Me: Leon has spent a lifetime saying goodbyes at doorways, in passing, and over distance, always promising heâd come back. But when the life heâs built finally stands on the edge of being taken from him, heâs forced to confront a truth heâs avoided for too long. Some goodbyes donât wait for you to be ready.
Rookie Mistakes, Seasoned Hugs: Turns out, giving your boyfriend a key to your apartment may have its perks, but it also has its risks, like mistaking him for an intruder.
Leon Has a Brainrotted Girlfriend: Leon had had enough of you shoving TikTok memes in his face and mindlessly referencing themâŚespecially in bed.
Runnin' For The Hills: You wake in the middle of the night because of a dream. It's not the horrifying flashbacks that usually haunt you; it's the sweetest, most comforting, beautiful dream you've ever had. And it left you restless. Why? Because you know it'll never come true
I still dream of violence: When a young married couple disappears, who could be better at investigating the case than a pair of special agents used to working together and known for their high efficiency? Well, probably nobody, but someone clearly ignored the fact that one of them should have retired a long time ago, and they are both too good at their job to rot in rural America. Not to forget the questionable nature of their professional relationship and mutual tension.
Yet Another Miscommunication Arc: Leon is a bitter old man and youâre just trying to do your job.
Gentle intimacy: Leon would not describe himself as good or kind, and he's cut open and bleeding at your feet, but you know he can be gentle.
My Wife Hates Me, I Might As Well Jump Off a Cliff: An argument erupted between Leon and his wife, and now he's doing anything he can to gain your favor back.
Brat Taming The Wife Isn't So Easy My Wife Disappeared, Therefore, I'm Going To Kill Everyone
First Date: Leon's daughter goes on her first date and Leon isn't taking it well.
Persistent: Three times Leon has asked you out and the one time you said yes.
Show a Little Loving: After a long day at work, Leon comes home to you and you share a sweet moment that reminds you just how lucky you are to have him. Though frankly, he believes heâs luckier to have you.
Take All My Love: To your chagrin, you get partnered with an irritating DSO agent who happens to take an interest in the case you're working on.
Make Me: Leon was the "man" of the relationship, the dominant one, supposedly. It seemed giving up control was easier said than done. Especially when it came to your suggestion. Calling a woman "mommy" was embarrassing... wasn't it?
Just One Step Behind: You drag Leon out shopping, bribing him with the promise of homemade muffins and a quick trip â just a quiet evening, or so you thought. Until a stranger crosses the line, and Leon shows a side of himself you donât get to see often. Back home, itâs up to you to pull him out of it, piece by piece.
Crystal Clear: After getting hurt, you and Leon have a revelation.
Goodnight Calls: Your daughter and her friends always make you the victim of their little trends. This time, it features calling your ex-husband and telling him goodnight.
Forever Night Stand: You move to a new city, preparing to start your new job at the DSO. On one evening, you decide to go out for a drink to ease your mind. You end up hooking up with a handsome stranger, thinking itâs just a one-time thing. However, on your first day at work, you discover that the handsome stranger is actually your new superior.
Quick pretend Iâm a random girl: Pranking Leon with a TikTok trend.
Wedding Ring: Your husband can't find his gloves for the latest mission he's been sent on and he refuses to leave without them.
Plant E: What was supposed to be a case of international human trafficking turns out to be far beyond your job description, so the DSO sends Agent Leon Kennedy â and your paths cross once again.
Part 2
I've Got Your Back: The rain finally lets up, and you take the chance to get back into the garden â trimming, replanting, pretending the last few days didnât exist. Leon keeps you company, moves things around. Somewhere between one planter and the next, something goes wrong. He insists itâs nothing. You let him think that â and stay close anyway.
Just Like You: You and your husband Leon spend a peaceful morning together in bed. You try to hide your injury after last nightâs mission, but Leon figures out whatâs wrong almost immediately. Before you know it, heâs patching you up while scolding you for not telling him earlier.
If You Want A Lover: It had been a stupid fightâthe kind that shouldâve ended with you begrudgingly crawling into Leonâs lap with his arms pulling you close like youâd never left. Instead, he was forced to leave for his mission, unresolved tension simmering between you. Two weeks later, heâs back and intent on making it up to you.
A Name, A Shirt: You want Leon, but he is too dumb to see it until you leave with another man from the bar.
Even a Good Boyfriend Can Be Bad at Something: Leon is the ideal boyfriend: loving, caring, attentive â but there is something he isnât entirely experienced at. Sex.
Despite Everything, It's Still You (sequel)
Island Life: Youâve been nothing short of obsessed with the new Tomodachi Life game recently, finding joy in making and taking care of a virtual version of your partner. The problem is, youâve been so engrossed in it that youâve been neglecting Leon, and heâs ready to remind you that you have the real thing waiting at home.
A New Purpose: Being the only female rookie at the DSO, you're used to being belittled by your fellow agents. Thought to be invisible to your superior, Mr. Kennedy, you would have never thought he'd come to save you as your first mission goes terribly wrong.
Act 1: HOT smut with Leon
Act 2 Act 3
Family Matters: Years of fighting bioterrorism, Leon finally found a person he loves, but lately, going to your family's kids' birthday parties, he realized he wants a family of his own.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You: Leon's had enough of you shoving TikTok memes in his face and mindlessly referencing themâŚespecially in bed.
Part 2
Sweet Tooth: You commit to lessening the sweet treats you frequently get every single day. Leon commits to making sure youâre motivated to see that goal through, with a special reward of his own.
Gentle Intimacy: Leon would not describe himself as good or kind, and he's cut open and bleeding at your feet, but you know he can be gentle.
Workplace Romance: Chief Leon Kennedy has a crush on the temporary receptionist of RPD. The receptionist in question is his wife, and he has made it everyoneâs problem.
Stray Bullets and Strays: Leon falls victim to the cat distribution system. As an emergency vet, you have strict rules about giving out your personal number to clients. But when a soaking wet, broad-shouldered man walks into your clinic holding a shivering neonate kitten like it's a live grenade, you make an exception. Strictly for cat emergencies, of course.
Boyfriend Duties: You see a spider and scream. Leon thinks that you're in serious danger.
Mission Marriage: You and Leon have to pretend to be married for 48 hours to complete a mission. He goes a little crazy when he realizes just how much he actually wants that
The Heart of a Home: Leon Kennedy's crush begins the moment he watches you calm a sobbing child in the precinct with nothing but kindness and a stuffed raccoon.
Calling Leon By His Middle Name And He Loves It: What the title says
Your Neighbour Thinks Youâre Cheating On Leon (sequel)
Hold Me Where It Hurts: Leon comes home from a mission quieter than usual, and you try to give him the kind of peace he never knows how to ask for. But when a nightmare pulls him somewhere far away from you, he wakes up to something he can barely forgive himself for: hurting you.
Canât Help Myself Around You: It was one of those late nights in the office where itâs just you and leon left behind. you do anything but the paperwork youâre supposed to accomplish and instead fall into a conversation that uncovers something youâve been feeling for a whileâwhich leads to leon finally admitting his feelings for you.
