Faux Pas || Leo & Kurt

Leo shook his head. “I just thought someone was following me,” he confessed quietly. “I’m not sure what it actually was, but I was sure someone was following me.”

“Hmmm…” Kurt glanced around the area briefly and despite not immediately seeing anyone, he didn’t seek to invalidate the younger boy’s claims, “Well, it appears whatever it was is gone now. At least so far as I can see.” The mutant gave a small nod indicating the empty hallway. “I can understand the nervousness, the first few days have shaken me as well.” It wasn’t anything monumental as far as conversation went, but at the very least, perhaps he could distract the youth from his immediate worries.

Leo sighed and shook his head to clear it. "Thank you," he said and looked around once more. "This place is just so big."

Leo sighed in relief. “Okay, good,” he said more to himself. He hated the feeling of being a nuisance and he opted to avoid it as much as he possibly could.

Phil nodded softly; he understood the sentiment. He almost felt empathetic towards the boy, but he disliked being “the” parental figure.

"So, uh, what kind of opportunities do you think I would have with Shield?" he asked nonchalantly, trying to sound only vaguely interested; he didn't want to promise anything when he wasn't sure what he would do.

"Puns?" Leo asked with a chuckle. "Never heard someone list that as what comes natually to them."

"Yeah? We’re in the same boat. Well I’ve never met anyone list engineering come easily to them." Perhaps had Bobby been friends with anyone smart enough to be an engineer back home, they would have figured out he was a mutant.

Leo chuckled. "I suppose you're right," he said. "And anyway, I can appreciate a good pun now and then."

Leo shrugged but found himself just as excited as his partner. “A biochemist and an engineer— what a pair,” he mused with a chuckle.

The brunette kept a smile upon her face though it dimmed down with the waning excitement. “A brilliant pair, really.” She commented, no longer focused on the tray of food sitting in front of her. “So,” She prompted, “Are you going to be specializing in anything specifically? Or is it just going to be general engineering?”

"Mechanical engineering," Leo told her. He had also stopped picking at the food in front of him, completely focused on his new partner.

"Thank you nonetheless," he repeated. "People have said it to me, but usually they say it spitefully." Leo sighed and shrugged. "They never really mean it."

Emma gave a shrug, “Hush. Thanks is not needed.”  She watched him for a moment, taking in his mannerisms taking a few unnoticeable peaks into his head. “They should. And shame on you for not demanding people take you more seriously. That’ll change.”

"I've never really thought it necessary," he muttered with a shrug. "People think what they think."

"D’you mean Jemma?" he asked. "Yes, I’ve met her. She’s my partner actually." Leo extended his hand out to shake hers. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter."

"Yes! Yes I do; you’ll have to forgive me. I’ve been learning so many names." Peggy’s eyebrows perked up. "Oh, how lovely! It’s a pleasure to meet you as well." She smiled. "So, you’re studying the sciences as well, then?"

"Sort of," he said before shaking his head. "Not really actually. I'm majoring in engineering. I'm not really sure why I got paired up with a biochem major."

Lost... Again || Charles & Leo

Leo just could believe it. How did he get lost again? It felt as if were going in circles and he had walked this way at least twenty times by now. He just wanted to get to the cafeteria and he was stuck in this hallway that looked like every other hallway in the university. He dug in his pocket for his map and muttered a quiet, “Shit…” when he realised he had left it on the small table beside his bed. He continued walking and came to a place in the hallway that looked familiar. He turned into what he thought was a hallway, but… Desks and chairs? he thought to himself, then looked farther towards the front of what he now knew was a classroom and saw the professor with his eyes trained on Leo.

Charles had only moments prior dismissed his students and was beginning to pack the stack of essays that had been handed in to him away. He scrutinized over his bag for a moment and decided that they probably wouldn’t fit along with all the other books that needed to fit in there. He sighed for a moment - people perceived him to be a powerful, problem solving telepath and, yet, he couldn’t even work out how to transport a stack of books from a classroom to an office. He spied a young man through the doorway of his classroom, his eyes focused on him for a few moments. “Are you okay?” he inquired, a low level of distress disturbing the edges of telepathy. He didn’t need to home in on the boy’s thoughts to know that he was at the very least confused.

It took Leo a moment to process what the professor asked him before he nodded. "I'm just fine, thank you," he croaked out before he started backing up towards the door. "I'll just leave you be now."

Leo immediately turned bright red. “No, I can find it, thanks,” he croaked out. He couldn’t believe he could humiliate himself so much in a single day.

Felicia smirked at the boy who was too nervous about everything. She could practically feel it radiating off of him. “I’ll walk you anyways. I’m heading to the dormitory too.” Felicia picked her bag up and swung it over her shoulder. She started making her way down the hall and looked over her shoulder. “You coming new boy?”

Leo took a deep breath before nodding and jogging to catch up to her. "Thank you," he muttered.

"And my parents were hippies and my only boyfriend slipped into a coma." Rogue told him.  "Don’t let it get to you."

Leo sighed and nodded in reluctant agreement. "Thank you."

"Just be yourself." Rogue told him.  "Forget what they say."

"But I'm already the weird Irish kid," he said quietly. "The only friend is my partner who is from England."

"I know all the answers in class and raise my hand for everything," Leo said, hanging his head slightly in dismay. "I don't need to add being there before everyone to the list of ways I try to hard."

"Are you sure you’re okay?" She asked, worriedly.

"I'm sure," Leo insisted. "I'd be about an hour early if I were to get there now," he confessed and scrunched his nose up in disgust. "The other students already don't like me enough."

Rogue stepped to the side.  ”I won’t keep you any longer then.”

"It's fine," Leo said, not moving to continue walking. "I think I'm close anyway."

"I don’t think so."  Rogue shook her head.  "Did I keep you?"

Leo quickly shook his head. "No, I was heading to my next class early because I knew I'd get lost," he confessed. "Better early than late."

Rogue shook her head.  ”My fault sugar.” She promised.  She looked him over to double check he was okay.   “Nice to meet you Leo.”

Leo nodded again. "You as well," he said quietly. "I hope I haven't made you late for something."

"Are you okay?" She asked, worried they had touched.  She pulled her gloves on tighter and pulled her sleeve even further.  "I’m Anna Marie." She said holding out her hand.

Leo nodded in response before extending his own hand out to shake hers. "Leo," he replied. He felt so awful that he had run into her that he found himself chewing on his lip. "Sorry again," he muttered.
