Do you think New Year’s resolution is effective? Why or why not?

New Year’s resolution is made after the end of each year. For some people, New Year means new life and some tends to change their self from who they was, to whom they want to become. Some says resolutions don’t last a month or so, which is probably true for people who lack faith on revamps in one’s self. For me resolution depends solely on the people who made the decision. Anyone can change their ways if they stick to their own convictions. As of people who lack the power to believe in their selves, changing their ways is impossible but those who believe that change is attainable, they sure can achieve their goals for their ideal self in the future. Therefore people can change and attain their aims if they have faith in their selves, resolutions maybe formidable, but for some reason it is achievable if you have a strong belief for such things to happen.

If you are to invent something, what would it be? And why?

For the past few years humans have become toxic to earth. Accumulating a mass number of waste which slowly kills the earth and its denizens. For most people these things are rarely prominent, they are not aware that they are slowly destroying the life force of the earth which keeps them from living. The main problem is the waste material produce by people, as population increases the number of waste material also increases, which makes the population directly proportional to the waste material being generated.

If I were to invent something I would like to invent a machine which can reduce the number of waste material invoke by people. I chose this because it’s not really impossible to fulfil. Creating such machine can help prolong the life span of the earth and the life span of its inhabitants as well. I chose only to prolong its life span for the reason that nothing in this world lasts forever, and everything has to end in some ways for some time.

Revised Essay: Family Narrative

I heard rumours about my grandfather in his youthful days. They said that my grandfather often went on rampage after consuming a lot of alcohol, singing in the streets like a desultory stray dog without even thinking how might people say after seeing him walking in the streets like an idiot. According to my mother, the rumours are said to be true, she said that she experience escaping on the windows along with her siblings because of my grandfather’s agitation, and my grandmother on the other hand, always get beaten up with no other choice but take it. I realized a burden she carries and how useless my grandfather has become. I tried to ask her how she felt about my grandfather at that time, and she often replies with a faint smile “oh!! that was a long time ago”, when I heard her response it seems that she already forgiven him for what he had done. After that day I never asked her about my grandfather’s deeds.

There is another rumour that he had a son to another woman which is basically true according to my mother. And by the time they knew my mother’s age was already 30 I guess? And I realize how pathetic my grandfather is, and the sad truth is my grandmother still accepts him for what he had done. I don’t really understand why, maybe I’m still very young to know something that is beyond my comprehension. People hate because they despise others and love for the reason they never know, maybe forgiveness itself is solely part of human nature, that’s the reason why human is very unique compared to other beings ever created. Words of forgiveness comes easy but love does not.

If you are to make a potion what will it be for? Why?

If I were to make a potion, I would surely make a peace potion. We can all see that people doesn’t even have a peace of mind in their own home. They keep fighting on each other even in nonsense things. I would make it not only for myself but also for those people who easily get mad at something. Pride, a short word but it can ruin everything, that’s one also of the reason why I choose to make a peace potion for those people who cannot lower down their pride. Because it can cause bigger trouble or fight. Worse, can let you do something crazy that can end a life. Peace is important in us people.

New year is a great time to reflect on the changes we want to or need to make. It`s the time of the year where people will ask you what are your resolutions for the upcoming year. Resolution has become a part of our lives. Research has found that people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions. In fact many of us students make resolutions, but we tend to not to do them because change is hard and your old habits of mind and action start testing yourself. Some people say that new year`s resolution is not effective maybe because they did not do their part or they are not willing to change. But for me, New year`s resolution will become effective if u are willing to undergo the so called change for the betterment of your life. Change is difficult, yet as hard as it is, everyone has the ability to make and keep meaningful changes in their life.

Revised Essay: Family Narrative

The story that I want to share to everyone is the story on how my parents met and how our family was born. Both my father and mother live in rural places. My mom, who is from Visayas, particularly in Bohol, transfer here in Iligan City to finished her college with the help of his older brother who is living in Iligan City at that time. My dad also transfers from Aurora City to Iligan City because his brothers are working in Iligan. My mom went to college as well as my father. They went to the same school, and their story started there. It happen on 1980`s where this two were fated to meet each other. They were classmates because they were taking up the same degree, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in St. Peters College. In a short period of time, they become best friends. They always hang out whenever they have free time. My mom said that my dad always buys her barbecue because that was their favorite street food back then. As time pass by they become really close to each other and they didn’t realize that they are also slowly falling in love with each other. Then the day comes when my father confessed his feelings to my mom and there its start their relationship. Their relationship as lovers was going well and lasted for a year until the time when my father breaks up with my mother because he`s going back to his hometown. But after two years, my dad came back to Iligan City and surprises my mom by going to the house of my mom and asks her a second chance to work things right. My mom said yes and in a short period of time they got married. In 1988, my mom gave birth to the eldest sibling of our family and it was followed by another boy in 1990. And in 1997, my mother gave to their youngest son, and that was me. The rest is history

Once you graduate and earn your first salary what will you buy for your mom/Dad/Siblings/ For yourself? Why?

Being able to graduate, to have jobs and to have big salary is one of the biggest dream for a student like us, especially when you`re a college student because you are just one step closer to your dreams. Every college student like me is waiting for this moment, that moment that you are filled with satisfaction, with joy that you have finished the race and surpass a one of a hell ride. Once I graduate, I will find a job and earn a salary that can sustain my needs as a human being. After I get my first salary, I want to buy myself a present, representing a trophy that I already attained the first step to success. And of course, I will not forget those people who were there for me every time and helped me attain this goal: My family. I would treat my family and go shopping to buy them their wants and needs. Maybe I would buy another necklace for mom because I want to replace the necklace that I bought for her when I was in High school. I could not think of a thing that I will buy for my father, but maybe a watch will do. He`s not a materialistic person. And for my brothers, I will not buy them anything because they have their own jobs and salary, they can manage to buy their necessities. And lastly I will not forget God, because without him, I can do nothing.

Dear Santa,

I still remember the day that I wrote a letter for you and I hope that you are all rested up from delivering presents last year. I would also like to thank you for all the awesome presents that you’ve given me before. And since Christmas is fast approaching, I thought of writing again a letter for you. By the way Mr. Santa, I am Matthew Quipa S. Tubio and I`m currently living at Luinab, Iligan City.

I just want you to know that I have been a very good boy this year so I think this will be my asset for you to grant my wish for this Christmas. This wish of mine is not that complicated and this is not just for my own satisfaction but also for my family. One of my wishes for this Christmas is that I wish that our house will be finished this year. Second is, I want a new car. Even though I don’t know how to drive, but still I want to have one in order for me to know how to drive. Lastly, I just want to have a new puppy, whom I can play with. And before I forget, I also want to have good grades especially in Math so that I can maintain my scholarship status because I`m doing really terrible this semester in this subject.

If God gives you the chance to go back or forward to a certain age, what age would it be and why?

Sometimes in our lives, we tend to remember about the things in the past. We sometimes remember the bad things that happen in our lives, and time comes that you will regret those things that you’ve done in past years and all you want to do is to go back to the past and change those terrible things that affects your present living. I, as a teenager, I witness how life is so complicated. I thought growing old is one of the best experience that will happen in my life but I am slightly wrong. As I'm growing old in this cruel world, trials or problems have been already a part of my life. But I realize that this is the nature of life. And you don’t need to change to those things that happen in the past because this trials and problems that you have been encountered were just a stepping stone to your success. But if GOD gives me the chance to go back or forward to a certain age, I want to forward my life in the age where I can truly say that my hard works are already paid off. The age where I can see myself as a successful man. I want to see myself building my own house, making a happy family and have kids and living a life to the fullest.
