"It doesn't count," Griffith whispers. "It's just this - physical need. Don't worry about anything."
He lays his palm on the head of Guts' half-hard cock, pushes it against the man's belly, in a gesture that's open and inviting and that makes the flesh twitch. Griffith shivers, doesn't hide his own erection. Just one more sign that this is normal, in the luxury of the castle's baths, hot running water making bodies believe there's more than survival, and lusts that won't get out the room.
"Doesn't count as what?" Guts asks, voice hoarse.
Griffith knows the aspirations and dreams of his men: Guts is the strongest man he has ever met, his main goal is to become even stronger, and there's no limit to his future.
Griffith has looked, with a rapt attention he rarely gives, to find what else Guts wanted, and who he wanted when they stopped in town, and he thinks that Guts is wary of sex, for reasons he can't determine yet.
So he needs to give the right answer.
"Doesn't mark the mind or the heart," Griffith lies, smiling, as he starts massaging the head of Guts' cock. Guts' eyes are focused on his face, which is good. The smile is all for him. The lie too.
He wants Guts to have a reason to stay with him. He hadn’t planned to desire this so much that it would affect him, but it's a bit too late to worry about that. He wants this to count.
"You shouldn't do this," Guts says, but there's no strength in his voice, no bite, no fear even, as pleasure makes him short of breath.
Griffith feels heat rise on his own belly. "Why?" he dares to ask, while tightening his grip. Guts' cock is huge and hot under his finger, making Griffith feel as powerful as if he grabbed a well-handled sword. He's so close he can no longer feel the veil of hot water and steam between their hips, the one that is still a barrier between their faces, making everything a bit fuzzy, hiding not desires, but what's behind them.
"Because..." but words fail Guts, as Griffith squeezes and pumps harder. But then Guts' hand finds Griffith's cock, and starts touching too.
So it was about reciprocity, about debts. Griffith can learn later how Guts sees it, who he thinks gets power over the other when they build desire and pleasure in someone else's soul. Right now, he knows the truth: he's the one with all the power, because he wanted this, and Guts, very probably, didn't.
Guts comes first - Griffith had started earlier, and has some experience - but Griffith follows fast, as Guts pumps his cock hard, like they were fighting, like he was fucking him with the muscles of his whole body. This is exactly what Griffith wanted from him, exactly what he was hoping for.
The hot water cleans them, takes away the semen, the scent of their bodies, and any mark of what happened, erasing their desire better than cold water would. Even the imprint of Guts' hand on Griffith's cock finally becomes a water-diluted memory.
Griffith gets out of the bathhouse, and nothing has changed. This is good. Their relationship could easily have turned sour. It's like nothing happened, really. And though he knows he wouldn't have gotten anything otherwise, Griffith misses the meaning it should have had, like he had bitten into a beautiful apple and it had no taste.
For Fandom Trumps Hate my offer includes making effect- or music-heavy podfic. To give you an idea of what that could sound like, here are some examples.
For sound effects, there's things like notification and typing sounds in a chat fic, phone conversations (this also has some custom foley effects :D), footnotes and differentiating between characters all of whom are called Death, or creating character voices that don't sound human (also parts of this, and the Death fic from before).
I also like to use soundscaping to bring out the atmosphere of a story. Examples of that are this body horror story and this action fight story (both of which also feature effects for robot voices and different communication channels) or this meta piece with several abrupt shifts in tone, subject matter and humor.
Music can also add to the atmosphere. Here are some examples with a lot of underscoring (music and narration at the same time): futuristic spaceship and haunting AI vibes, tragedy and melancholy, soft contemplation (that one also has custom foley effects). Also, this one which is for a fandom that is about music videos so it features those songs.
Some other options are music in scene breaks, (or here and here, with my own piano recordings), musical themes for characters, or including singing in the podfic.
This is an overview of what I've done so far, but these are just examples. All of these projects have been unique creative undertakings for me and they are always inspired by the text itself.
So I'm sure that there are lots of different cool things that can be done and I'm excited to figure out how to bring to life the text that you have in mind.
First and foremost, two of the projects I did for FTH that have lots of underscoring and effects: Lovecraftian horror in space and creepy psychological horror-fluff in a medieval setting.
Huh, until this overview I hadn't realized how many of my projects last year involved creating soundscapes for the background noise of certain settings and scenes in podfics: daydreaming in a modern-day business world, medieval campfire with added creepiness, a more tongue-in-cheek soundscape for a regency-era zombie apocalypse,... There's variety here, friends :D
And of course, music projects: Christmas smut with singing, post-apocalyptic skeletons vibing to Vivaldi's/Max Richter's Four Seasons, irresistible perfumes and unrequited love, and two very different ways of combining stories with Radiohead's Creep: here and here.
The queen of hearts (in his house of cards) (5094 words, berserk)
In which Charlotte goes to a ball, talks to a ghost, and comes to terms with Griffith and his priorities.
Written for the Berserk Valentine's Day exchange.
Excerpt:
“You left me alone all evening.”
“You were in disguise, milady,” says Griffith reasonably.
“Even so,” she pouts, “even so, you should have recognized me! From my gait, or my curtsy, or the way I nodded to the music.” Oh, this is all quite childish, isn’t it? But something tells her that her demand is not entirely without cause — because, after all… “After all, I recognized you.”

The wonderful @enisywrites bid on my translation services for @fandomtrumpshate and gave me a whole bunch of fics to translate. I had so much fun working on them! And I finished them almost immediately - and then never uploaded. So. Erm. Here we go!
Beware: All of my translations are in German. I you don't understand German, I urge you to check out the original works. In fact, even if you do, please check out the originals. They're great, each of them completely unique, often experimental, and so, so different from any fic you've read before.
Seehecht - based on Hake
A super interesting original work. Less than 600 words, but with amazingly rich worldbuilding and evocative writing, set in a postapocalyptic sci-fi world. Personally, I would LOVE to see more from this universe!
Tonpuppe - based on Clay Doll
A speculative glimpse into Yoda's "life" as a force ghost during the events of Return of the Jedi, with flashbacks to his childhood. The mood changes between oppressive and pensive and adds another layer to one of the more light-hearted moments of the movie.
Zehn Dinge, die Hikaru zurückgelassen hat - based on Ten Things Hikaru Left Behind
An incredibly interesting and expressive take on grief. I wasn't aware of The Summer Hikaru Died before, or I had maybe heard the title before, but nothing else. This made me want to take a look at it.
Für den Mann, der alles hat - based on For the Man Who Has Everything
I've only ever made it about a chapter into Berserk - not for lack of quality in the drawings or writing, but simply for lack of obsession in my brain. This was such an evocative read. Enisy paints the characters at different points in their lives, and I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it.
Er sagt, sie sagt - based on he said, she said
I'll be honest: Most of what I know about Ace Attorney comes from Karina Drawfee. This was fun. And set in my hometown. Enisy even let me add a little dig at it. Yay :3
My first Fandom Trumps Hate gift for @enisywrites, a podfic of her Berserk story Omnia Vincit Amor:
Casca, Griffith and Guts in a cottage after the war.
It's a lovely atmospheric, creepy, bleak, melancholic and yet understated fic. So in conclusion: right up my alley :D It was a fun challnge to add soundscaping and underscoring (mostly from Max Richter's soundtrack"Hostiles") to bring out the mood that I felt when I read it.
