okay but horror as a way to explore the trauma of womanhood. the haunted house as a representation of the maddening relegation to the domestic sphere, funhouse mirrors as a way to explore the grostesque insidiousness of beauty standards, blood and violence and gore paralleling childbirth and menstruation; insanity, madness, physical deformation being a metaphor for pregnancy and its side effects, the patriarch husband being analogous to the devil, and by extension, demonic possession as a treatise on the ubiquity of the voyeuristic male gaze. just, horror as a means to explore the trauma of womanhood!!

something about women with traditionally "male" titles like sir/prince/king/etc really does something to me.

LOVE character regression. love when characters get hurt and revert to their old ways as a way to deflect, cope, and recuperate. love when they get scared to make a difficult decision. love when it takes time and effort. it's going to be worth so much more when they get better.
