ENM Construction Management Responds to Langley City Council’s Resolution Approving Plans for a SkyTrain.

The resolution reads in part: “Langley City Council concludes that the SkyTrain technology for Stage 2 – Fraser Highway Corridor between King George Station and Langley is superior to Light Rapid Transit (LRT) based on the perspective of safety, travel time, reliability and potential for future extensions.”

We at ENM fully support this resolution. Our co-founder, Daniel Greenhalgh, feels the pros clearly outweigh the cons.

ENM employs a full-time safety coordinator, Brodie Parsons, who is an everyday advocate for ensuring all workers are wearing what they need to stay safe.

On virtually all construction sites, workers are required to wear a hard hat and steel toe boots. This is the bare minimum of safety equipment and any worker would be immediately removed from the site without them. Our co-founder, Daniel Greenhalgh, points out that the most useful part of the boots aren’t the steel toes – they’re the shanks.

The NDP’s new budget levied a luxury tax on homes and buildings valued at over $3 million, but they’ve just announced an exemption for rental buildings with four or more units.

In the 2018 budget released in February, the NDP followed through on a campaign promise by levying a new school tax on luxury homes and buildings valued at more than $3 million. But soon after the budget was announced, they released a clarification that the new tax would not apply to rental buildings with more than four units.

A recently released survey of BC residents found that 86% of respondents believe the government should be doing more to curb foreign and speculative investment in B.C. real estate. 58% of respondents believe that we should consider an outright ban on foreign buyers of B.C. real estate.

That trend is rapidly changing with new policies and market shifts that are making developers like ENM look harder at pursuing rental developments.
