Intro post! :-)
OOC: Hi, I'm Nye! ( @nyetime ) This is my Star Trek TOS Era OC, Ensign Nat Scully.
They're a difficult personality, though they are trying their best to improve at social interaction (specifically kindness), so will often make comments where not entirely necessary. They're a bit of a polymath and a (poor) polyglot, which they can be insufferable about. They idealise the past, at times too much. While they are a younger graduate of the academy, it's not because of some insanely high IQ (above, say, Scotty), but rather because they were enrolled in the academy at 11, due to a loophole left in their parent's will. They spent 7 years repeating content until they finally graduated early at age 18. They might appear overconfident and annoying as shit and thats because they ARE.
Info they probably won't mention:
- They have Autism, ASPD and Bipolar II
- They're pansexual
- Scared of the dark
- For 8 years of their life they were kept alive solely by an alien sentient tissue mass that worked as a hive mind to maintain a symbiotic relationship
- They find replicator food so off-putting it's hard for them to eat, at times.
- They especially enjoy the company of Chekov (though, they would never admit that)
- Engineering/computer science as a hobby for vintage repair. They don't enjoy it as work
- Irish accent, with an American twinge to it from spending their teens in San Francisco. They tend to speak quietly, their voice monotonous, and don't want to be heard or understood, half the time.
- Nat is their full first name, but they don't correct anyone when people call them Natalka or Natik. Along the way people just guessed at a longer version, and both stuck.
- They're on probation for stowing away on another federation ship, a research vessel. They boarded only to gather intel on the captain, whom they suspected to be a spy of some kind. This made them late to their posting on the Enterprise (they were supposed to join at the same time as Chekov joined the lower decks) by a few months. It's not very important, but kinda a running joke
Greetings, dia duit and live long and prosper.
I currently serve as an Ensign aboard the USS Enterprise, under the direct supervision of Commander Spock. My work is in the science department, predominantly in the area of exobiology. Though, I can perform minor nurse duties when called for. I prefer gender neutral terms, and they/them pronouns. Though, anything other than he or she is functional. I am a human. Yes, really. I should try my best to entertain conversation and questions. I've been told I come off as rude, deliberately obtuse and somewhat of a brag. Which I'm sure could very well be true. At present, I am the age of 20. The Enterprise is my first time serving aboard a ship, and at times I do find it difficult to adjust to the social aspect of being part of a working crew. Especially this one. It doesn't compare much to simulations at the academy. The work, itself, of course, should be simple. I expect to enjoy my time aboard.
