Kill it with your sumatriptan. Kill it with your sumatriptan. Amen
just baffling. yes i believed that there really was a 'little bird' telling people things when they said 'a little birdy told me' and yes i believed that rats were living in my hair when my family members told me i had a 'rat's nest' and, yes, i thought 'seeing red' literally meant seeing red. no, it didn't ever occur to me that there was another meaning. why would it!
it's almost as if i took what people were saying to me literally and so the implied meaning was lost on me.....

this kind of casual lateral ableism is so disgusting. "some of these just feel kinda stupid" — you really sat down, typed that out, and thought that was an appropriate thing to say?
in my opinion, it's very telling when you call other disabled people 'stupid' (and even introduce this dialogue with 'do you not ask follow up questions?', is its own ableist thing), particularly in a conversation that's like... like, the post itself feels like it was targeted towards LSN individuals online. and these are screenshots of posts by @neurodivergent_lou on instagram, who i don't know much about, personally, but a quick google reveals that she's an autistic autism advocate, right, not just some random instagram influencer/grifter/repost account. i feel like that's important context... anyway what i'm trying to say is, if this is how you talk about other people with low support/middle support needs, i hate to think of what you think about/say about HSN individuals behind closed doors. if 'why would you [actually] see red' is your threshold for 'you're kinda stupid' maybe you should consider a) what makes autism a disability, b) how implying other autistic people are 'stupid' for literal thinking is tied to ableism, c) why you chose to use the word 'stupid', d) the fact that, yes, there are some people who are so disabled that asking follow-up questions is not something that crosses their mind because, again, they are disabled, and e) the similiar fact that '[thinking about] reasonable [interpretations of phrases]' is not something everyone is capable of (and 'reasonable' is a highly subjective concept) because, again, say it with me, autism is a disability that looks different for everyone.
