It's been a while since I've updated this and I've done a fair bit of work. Most notably would.be my mate Simon Lyddiard put some proper paint down on the frame and I'm damn glad I put the aerosols down and let someone who knows what they're doing work on my stuff. This black speckle is amazing in the sunlight. More to come...

Worked on pegs today, working off an idea I came up with earlier this year. Ian helped weld up the attachment from some stock triumph pegs i had to some hex bar and anderson footpegs. I'm stoked with the outcome.
With a rebuilt carburettor, and a few adjustments. I took the bike out for a quick ride up the street. It seems to have a problem selecting first gear and the float bowl gasket was forcing the float to stay down. Other than that it was incredible!
Another session at Ian’s Triumph Cave began with more headaches and heartaches as we deduced that the lack of fuel being drawn into the cylinders was a result of insufficient compression 90psi. After that much trouble, the bike really had no reason to resist starting so we progressed to starting. After a slight blunder of having the plug leads around the wrong way, the little 5T gave a bit of a cough then a pop and two kicks later roared to life revealing a deep and healthy exhaust note with not even a hint of smoke! I was so happy I could just shit. But it wasn’t all perfect. The old Amal concentric mkII carburettor was pretty worn out and fuel wasnt getting into the bowl after the carb was manually primed. BUT, it started. And I am stoked.
This is the final mock up before it all gets plumbed up and hopefully started!!!
I was very generously offered the assistance of Ian Don ( @icdon on the gram if you're into that.) After spending a few hours in his workshop, I quickly realised how much I needed his help. I was completely in the dark as far as setting up a triumph. So it was truly incalcuble how great his help was and will continue to be. Ian is a great bloke, and shares a fondness for a beer and hang in a workshop.
I FINALLY GOT MY BOTTOM END BACK! exciting times ahead as I rush to get this thing together for the Boogaloo Invitational.
Moving back to Newcastle. I wanted to finish this thing in Canberra but life sometimes spins you in different directions...
More progress on the paint, I've laid down some gold on the tank and finished the coats of black on the rear guard. Removed the masking on the gold and it's come out okay. Not amazing but for a first attempt at masking it's acceptable in my book. I can see myself painting this a few times in the future to try and improve my technique.
I drew up some ideas for the masking the tank off. Pretty set on the bottom right though I'll see how i feel when it comes to actually doing it.
Because I have a tendency to drill outrageously inaccurate holes, I used Matt's drill press to make the hole for the rocker box studs to run through. It was harder to line up than I thought as the triumph factory hole weren't exactly perfectly aligned themselves...
I went over to my mate Matt's place to hang out and use his furnace to bend up the stainless brake rod. It works fine, though the 12mm bolt acting as a pedal spindle is less than suitable and will need to be replaced very soon.
Here's the bike in its 'military-bobber-spec' khaki primer. There are a few small imperfections which ideally I would like to remove but for now this is how it'll be.
