A Brand New Year!

It's been quite some time since we've posted but Bishop Loughlin has been busier than ever! We've had winiter shows, community service projects, performances at the Barclay Center and we've started our Basketball season. The admissions office has been keeping busy reviewing all of the amazing applications we've received for the incoming Freshman Class. Have you applied yet? This week is Spirit Week at Loughlin. Houses and Families come together and build school spirit. Yesterday was Wacky Tacky day. Students were encouraged to wear crazy patterns, colors, and clothes. In the spirit of Wacky Tacky, make sure to tilt your head as you look at these pictures. Thanks to Zenobia one of our Ambassadors for snapping these great pictures!

Welcome Back

We want to extend a warm welcome back to all students as they return to classes for the first full week. Our prayers and well wishes go out to all the families and people who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. You are in our hearts.

Hallowed Halls

And Gloried grounds

For five & seventy years,

You have brought learning,

Friendship,

Leadership,

Loving care,

And even memory-filled tears.

How can an institute so old

Weave tales of the bold,

The great,

The intelligent,

And the artistic that have graced your halls,

Inside of these fortressed walls?

Walls that give a feeling of protection,

Like a lion over its young.

How can we fail?

How can we falter

inside a building so strong?

Our wounds you have healed,

Our brains you have reaped,

After sewing seeds of knowledge,

Preparing a harvest for college.

A special thank you to New Grace School who visited our school last week! Over 50 students came to spend the morning at Bishop Loughlin. They took tours around the school and met with a panel of our Ambassadors. Thank you again for a great day!

Last Friday Loughlin hosted its annual Loughlin's Got Talent! We had beatboxers, rappers, poets, and singers compete to win a cash prize. Thanks to everyone who participated. Special congratulations to Victoria (on right) who won first place with her rendition of an Etta James song! She was wonderful!

Loughlin's Senior Varsity Volleyball girls played their last home game yesterday against St. Savior. We will miss the seniors but they played an excellent game yesterday and secured another win!

Compassion and peace of mind bring a sense of confidence that reduce stress and anxiety, whereas anger and hatred come from frustration and undermine our sense of trust.
