Weird
Notes: Slight Codependency, mindfuck(?) not proofread.
Robin isn't going insane. He swears he isn't. But at times he thinks he will with how everything he knows of is now starting to fall apart.
The weather changes from cloudy to sunny to back to cloudy. Sure, it isn't that much of a big deal with how weird the weather is at times. But no weather changes this constantly and happens in just mere seconds.
It was pouring out heavily. School was starting in 20 minutes and Robin didn't want to have the chance to get in with public transportation. He went back to his room and got an umbrella and as he opened it up walking near the door, the sun was out. Not in that slow process where the rain subdues and leaves trickle of poodles but actually stopped. The sun was out and it was as if there was no rain that had happened.
You were by the door, bag already resting on your shoulders as you smiled at him. “Ready to go?”
Now that he thinks about it. Every weird thing that happened recently started with you.
It all started a week ago after your 18th birthday that you began acting… weird. Robin doesn't want to judge, he himself isn't the brightest person, that's why he tries his best to study when it came to his academic, but seeing you ace your studies in just a day freaked him out—and a little jealous—as you usually had difficulty with the subjects and often ask him for help with history.
Most of the time on weekends, you'd go out to find some way to earn money. Robin tried to convince you that you can go to him if you need help with anything and you'd always decline and tell him not to worry with that meek voice of yours. He pretends he doesn't see the way you lean against your left leg as he greets you the next day.
Now, however. You just stay in your room. You invited him once which was something you never did before and he was baffled by the amount of furniture that filled your room. When you asked him to take any clothing he liked in the closet, he was baffled with how much expensive clothing you had. When he asked where you got the money to buy everything. You laughed and told him you had your ways.
There's no way no amount of stolen money can pay for all of it.
That wasn't the only thing he noticed was different about you.
The way your scrawny self managed to beat Whitney and seeming to have infinite paper spray.
How you assaulted multiple people but never arrested or even in wanted posters. Not that he wanted you to get taken away.
And that's the weirdest of all of this. Everyone is acting weird.
Those bullies in school who'd always picked on you now want to grab your attention. The teachers who didn't give much thought to you suddenly praise you. Everyone in the orphanage who are filled with dread suddenly all smile like nothing’s wrong as if Bailey just didn't sell out one of the other orphans ‘cause they didn't pay up.
You knock at his door and slowly he opens it. There, you stand waiting for him to open up and smile at him. “Hey, Robin. Mind if I hang out with you?”
You stand there as if nothing is wrong. Like he doesn't have bloodshot eyes, that he isn't trembling at the sight of you.
There's so many things he wants to ask: “Who are you?”, “What did you do to my friend?” “What did you do to everyone?” “What have you done to the world?”
“What are you?”
Yet, he never asked any of it.
He doesn't know what happened, or if you are still his friend. But Robin... selfishly, doesn't care or tries not to. He refuses to think about it. Not with how you took his debt as Bailey raised up the rent no matter his efforts of tiredly trying his best to earn enough to pay it, how you always sit with him in lunch and listen to everything he says. How he's the first person you go to early in the morning and the last when you head to bed.
He notices you looking up at a log above his head, the words 'Fears you' and 100% in love and apprehension bolds in the screen.
Yet you still smile.
Robin pretends he doesn't mind and pulls out his console while giving you the second one.
