what does Jim like to hoard? I know its been mentioned a couple times vaguely that he likes to hold onto things from his childhood because he cant remember much of it and in your explaining how to draw piles of items post he had a skateboard (fuck yeah), a teddy bear missing an eye (?), a water gun, a freaking lamp, and he was playing with what I'd assume is a Gameboy. Also, is there any reason why he cant remember? Did he have a canon event/silly
After his mother's death, Jim went through long periods of psychosis. He'd forgotten a lot of these memories going through episodes. Memories of Clover were especially triggering, so many childhood memories were pushed to the back of his mind.
Being sheltered, Jim was very emotionally immature. Buying toys/collectibles gave him a quick rush he became addicted to, trying to cling onto faded nostalgia. Combine that with his fear of losing important things and now his house is a level 4 hoard.

Dakota lives out in the woods with his uncle, Rainier. Forced out of his home when his mom lost custody over him. Big family, big drama, with Dakota being caught in the crossfire of it all.
He's quiet, meek, you wouldn't notice him even if he's right in front of you. Being invisible came natural to him, since it was easier to survive that way. When he wasn't, he was being used as emotional hostage by his family during arguments. He wasn't allowed to think for himself because it didn't matter what he'd thought.
He doesn't have a real interest in hunting, it was something forced upon him by Rainier. At least he likes exploring the woods and seeing the animals, even if they're between his crosshair.
There's a reason why Rainier lives so far out in the countryside. He wants nothing to do with his parents, his sister, and her equally as insane family. But, being the most "stable" out of his members revokes his rights to his own isolation. Now he has an extra mouth to feed.
He looks at Dakota and wonders what the hell his sister did to make him such a wet sponge. He knows what it feels like to be austricized by your own family. A kid like him won't be able to survive on his own, so he takes Dakota along for hunting trips to get him to toughen up.
Hey three Foresto fans following me wanna watch me rewrite forestoc lore ofcs you do. W/ the new lore + secrets in Foresto I wanted to update Rainier and Dakota's lore to be more accurate/involved in the story (cause now there actually is one lol.)
NOTE: Half of this is headcanon/personal theories of the current lore, so a good chunk of this is me making bullshit up. So don't take my interpetations as canon!!!!
So let's start again...

High up in the Tundras, rumor speaks of a cult operating in its mountains. The cult believes themselves as seers of the void, afflicted with a curse that filled their minds with delusions. In the darkness, a voice spoke to them, one demanding a body and soul. It whispered promises of paradise if they built them a vessel fit.
Rainier and his sister, Maine, were born into the cult. They worked as huntsmen, looking for fitting "bodies" to be used for offerings- whether it be animal or man. Rainier would bear witness to the sacrifices and cruel punishments carried out: ones he wasn't exempt from. The only person to give him kindness was his own sister, a light in the dark.
As missing persons and unexplained murders spread out, the people became paranoid. People begin to move out of town, mining facilities cease operations, and those who remain isolate in the trees. The cult becomes desperate for new bodies, eventually turning on their own members- including children.
Maine was expecting and couldn't afford to lose her child. If she refused, it'd be both of their lives taken. Rainier refused to accept that. Rainier gets in contact with a group opposed to the cult's practices, acting as a mole to give out their cult's location. In turn, his sister's given protection.
Rainier's given just that. With the cult's operations exposed, they're forced to scatter. Maine is able to escape without a scratch, meanwhile Rainier moves out to the deep woods to build a new life for himself. One of solitary and peace.
Maine had escaped into the city, delivering her son, Dakota. Despite the protection promised to her, a new identity that scrubbed her record clean, she could never escape the shadows that haunted the corners of her vision. She became paranoid, fearful that her past will catch up to her and take her son away from her.
Dakota's childhood was one of isolation. Most of his days were spent locked away in his room, hiding from monsters he couldn't see. But home was anything but safe. He was a sponge to mother's anger, fears, and sorrows. Dakota learned to walk on eggshells and to disappear into the background, just to keep the peace.
But everything reaches its boiling point. In one bad episode, Maine tries to stab out his eyes. Dakota manages to escape with just one of them and get help.
The headlines were on everyone's minds that day. A story of a boy locked away by his insane mother, babbling to the jury about curses and the occult. Of course, nobody believed the story, how could they? She was sent to a psychiatric hospital, while her son was taken by childcare services.
Childcare struggled to find someone fit to care for Dakota, with no immediate family or guardian to take him. The only known family he had on record was his estranged uncle, living far out in the countryside on forested grounds...
