Imagine Troy's reaction to him and Abed winning cutest couple. He won all the class superlatives in high school but this is the first time any have made him feel genuinely proud. This is the first time it's felt honest. Imagine Troy running into old football friends and proudly announcing this is my boyfriend, and hoping they've changed and will accept him, but if they don't it'll be okay because their judgement doesn't matter to him anymore.
Community AU where instead of choosing Troy after the valentines dance Mariah says she needs to go on a “real date” with them both before she makes a choice so they end up setting up a date in a restaurant or something. (I’m thinking pulp fiction my dinner with Abed restaurant)
They plan everything out and it’s all very casual and they both make it clear that they wouldn’t get jealous or resentful if the other person “wins”. They even wear the grey suits from Shirley’s wedding and do a romantic movie marathons in preparation.
and then they go to the restaurant at the planned time and wait for a few hours but Mariah never shows…
so basically they decide that they’re already there and the reservation has already been payed for so they might as well just eat there I guess? It’s not a date or anything and they both even act like they’re just waiting for Mariah to get there even though they both know that isn’t happening. They both had a really nice time and Troy realises a couple of days later that they basically just went out. Together. And he freaks out when he knows he had a really nice time, better than all the dates he’s had with women, wait are the movie nights they do basically dates as well etc.
and so knowing this Troy makes a plan to ask abed if they could go out with Mariah again (assuming that she won’t show up so basically they can just go on a date no homo style). Troy asks abed to reach out to Mariah and see if she’s up for it and Abed (who has had a similar level of realisation) doesn’t ask her at all and just tells Troy she said yes so that he can pretend they’re on a date basically. I’m thinking this goes on for a while (like they’re “inviting” Mariah to stuff weeks after this all goes down) and they are both having the same thought pattern of “oh shit he’s gonna notice she’s not turning up soon and then we’ll have to go back to not pretending we’re in a relationship”. and they’re not even that happy with the situation because Troy thinks Abed is genuinely asking Mariah out every time and is only doing these things on the off chance she’ll show up and Abed thinks Troy’s gonna find out any day now that he’s not actually talking to Mariah and he’s pretty sure she left the school like a month ago.

No offense but why would the writers add this if they wanted us to root for jeff and annie?? I literally cannot see annie as anything but a lesbian after this, I just can't

Thinking about Jeff and Annie actually.
Thinking about how Annie tells Abed that she's in love with the idea of being loved, and that if she can get Jeff to love her, she'll never be alone. Thinking about her horror story in Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps, which featured her trying to reform Jeff, who was supposed to be an unlovable monster, but ultimately killing him brutally because he couldn't change. Thinking about how the point of each individual story is to reflect the exact brand of insane that each member of the study group, and Annie is consistently known as being someone who needs to control the people around her. Thinking about how Jeff was a way for her to calm her own anxieties around being loved and still feel that control in a new environment. Thinking about how she didn't really love him and she knew that, and her accepting that and moving on from him was treated as a crucial part of her arc in the third season.
Thinking about how she represented to Jeff him still chasing his younger self and refusing to grow up. Thinking about how while Britta was a narrative foil for him because she cared about doing good above anything else and wanted desperately to be authentic even when she very much wasn't, Annie was the kind of woman Jeff could manipulate easily, and how maybe he constantly tries to protect her because he knows people like him are out there. Thinking about how maybe his relationship with her was a way for him to regain his own youth.
Thinking about how neither of these characters truly understood what the other wanted and were more interested in the other person as a symbol than as a person. Thinking about how they both understood the fundamental gap between them in the third season until it got fucked up in the fourth season. Thinking about how these should absolutely not for the love of God ever be endgame because it is so antithetical to both of their character arcs that a major point in their arcs was literally deciding not to be together.
Thinking about how the finale treats them like some great love story that never was.

"Average person will have a very public breakdown over being left waiting too long for an experiment" factoid actually just statistical error. Average person will just leave. The people at Greendale Community College, who are incredibly weird and overreact to everything, are outliers adn should not have been counted. Except for Abed Nadir, who is an outlier at the opposite extreme, adn also should not have been counted.
justice for the Britta Perry girls. Justice for the girls who know how fucked up the world is and feel guilty for not being able to do anything. Justice for the girls who constantly get put down for their beliefs because they refuse to be quiet and small and perfect, and come off as intense and aggressive even though they're just passionate. Justice for the girls who feel like being happy is wrong because how can they be happy with everything else that's going on? Justice for the girls whose problems aren't considered "real problems," even though they would be if it was someone younger or prettier or skinnier or nicer than them. Justice for the girls who don't think they're doing enough even though they're completely drained, physically and emotionally, because of how deeply they care. Justice for the girls who make mistakes because of how totally drained they are and constantly get made fun of for being imperfect.

I'm sorry but whether you're sleeping in the same bed or not there is something very queer about moving into an apartment with two bedrooms and deciding that you both need to sleep in the same bedroom and turning the other one into a "Dreamatorium."

in Abed’s first movie he makes in S1Ep3 ‘Introduction to Film’ we’re given an indication that he had tests done as a child to figure out what was “wrong” with him through this bit.
and then in S3Ep19 ‘Curriculum Unavailable’ when Abed is made to see a therapist the entire group goes with him and Jeff tells the therapist “Abed won’t go to any kind of doctor on his own. We caught him last year trying to remove his own tonsils.”

ik ik we all want a trobed reunion for the movie. but like. shirley. frankie. elroy. i need them back too. i need frankie and elroy to meet shirley and troy and immediately realize some stuff about the study group. i need frankie to communicate with shirley about their motherly feelings towards annie and abed (and shirley's towards troy obviously).
