Zohran Mamdani is using New York City to show the world how progressive policies work for everyone. #DemocraticSocialist
Well, he's showing the 21st Century US how progressive policies work. The rest of the wealthy, developed nations already know how well they work. And Americans in the 20th century when FDR and LBJ were presidents understood how well they worked.
Reagan and the GOP spent 50 years brainwashing Americans into thinking that the government is the enemy, and we will all be prosperous if we give the rich tax breaks and let the money "trickle down."
And so now we have Trump, who gave the rich huge tax breaks, which led to a spiraling deficit, and Trump cutting back on Medicaid, ACA support, SNAP, and other social benefits in order to have enough moneyto fund ICE, his war, his ballroom, etc.
When are working class MAGA going to realize they've been played by decades of GOP propaganda?
The trees at the Lake District in winter are something to behold. I have to come back here one day.

Pumpkin space latte, anyone? ☕
Hubble captured this festive array of stars, Terzan 12, found in the Milky Way about 15,000 light-years from Earth. The stars in this cluster are bound together by gravity in a sphere-like shape and are shrouded in gas and dust. As the starlight travels through that gas and dust to Earth, blue light scatters, leaving the redder wavelengths to come through.

Siwa Oasis, Egypt. The 95% salt concentration increases the density of water and buoyancy, making it so you can’t sink | source
That’s not even the Siwa Oasis, that’s just one of its many salt pools, each is often 4 meters deep, while the main Oasis is 19 meters deep.
Here we can see a salt pool that is connected to the main Oasis.
Fun fact about the Siwa Oasis, it was home to the Oracle of Ammon and is historically known as the Oasis of Amun Ra while under Egyptian rule, the Oasis of Zeus Ammon while under Greek rule and the Oasis of Jupiter Ammon under Roman rule, where the Temple of Amun was located.
The original name the earliest Egyptian records give is sḫt jꜣmw
meaning “Field of Trees”.
Another fun fact, classical authors refer to the region as Ammonium, which is obviously derived from Ammon, Amun, which give us ammonia and ammonite.
The Romans called the ammonium chloride they collected from deposits near the Temple of Jupiter-Amun sal ammoniacus (salt of Amun) because of proximity to the nearby temple.
Ammonia, as well as being the chemical, is a genus name in the foraminifera. Both these foraminiferans and ammonites bear spiral shells resembling a ram’s, Ammon’s horns.
The regions of the hippocampus in the brain are called the cornu ammonis, literally “Amun’s Horns”, due to the horned appearance of the dark and light bands of cellular layers.
When Alexander the Great occupied Egypt in late 332 BC, he was regarded as a liberator, thus conquering Egypt without a fight.
He was pronounced son of Amun by the oracle at Siwa. Amun was identified as a form of Zeus and Alexander often referred to Zeus-Ammon as his true father, and after his death, currency depicted him adorned with the Horns of Ammon as a symbol of his divinity.
The tradition of depicting Alexander the Great with the horns of Amun continued for centuries, with Alexander being referred to in the Quran as “Dhu al-Qarnayn” (The Two-Horned One), a reference to his depiction on Middle Eastern coins and statuary as having horns of Ammon.
An amazing thing about water with high salt concentration (like the Dead Sea) is that you can use it to treat psoriasis, and skin infections. I don’t know much about it, but I would bet that it’s due to the high mineralization along with the salt, which is antiseptic. So it appears to be really, really good for your skin.

We are going to the Moon!
At 1:47 a.m. EST on Nov. 16, 2022, our Orion spacecraft launched aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from historic Launch Complex 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on a path to the Moon, officially beginning the Artemis I mission.
This mission is the first integrated test of NASA’s deep space exploration systems: the Orion spacecraft, the SLS rocket, and Kennedy ground systems. This is the very first time this rocket and spacecraft have flown together, and it’s the first of many Artemis missions to the Moon. Artemis I is uncrewed, but it lays the groundwork for increasingly complex missions that will land humans on the lunar surface, including the first woman and the first person of color to do so.
With Artemis, we will build a long-term human presence on the Moon and prepare humanity for future exploration plans to Mars and beyond.
See more photos of Artemis I on our Flickr.
