'Girl With Bunny' Framed by Shuby

Shuby uses print, collage, paint and photography to create original reinterpretations that revel in absurdity, kitsch and irony. Her cheeky visions are almost dream-like in their Technicolor intensity. She works in a wide variety of mediums including paintings, print making, ceramics and reworking found objects. 

Her influences include Josephine Baker, Busby Berkeley, Andy Warhol, Eduardo Paolozzi, Richard Hamilton, John Stezaker, Retro advertising, Car Boot Sales, Seaside charity shops and The Carnivalesque.

  Shuby has also made a large amount of street art that includes paste ups and spray painted shutters. She since has embarked on a journey evolving a range of images inspired by dance, technicolor film, retro advertising and photography by reworking them on paper and pasting them onto numerous buildings.

  Her set of royal portraits using rabbit heads was entered into the RCA Secret show with bits of the burnt Hasting's Pier and her recent sought-after Biscuit Jar series has some very interesting collectors.

Shuby came from a family where everyone painted and went on to do a degree in print making in Manchester.

'Haruka Pink' Original Framed by Severine Sendra

Séverine Sendra is a French self-taught artist who from a very early age was interested in painting and drawing.   At 18 she joined an association of amateur artists who allowed her to experiment with pastels and exhibit her early work. Today, Séverine mainly uses acrylic in her work. ‘I am dedicated primarily to the achievement of manga. My media are canvases on which I paste newspaper and create the work in acrylic. I also make portraits on canvas worked in different ways’.

'r2tag2 - troops out' by RYCA

RYCA is a young artist from the east end of London who has taken a less than orthodox route into the art world… he eschewed the traditional university fine art training of his contemporaries opting instead to stay at home and watch Only Fools and Horses on video. Having trained as a sign writer and maker you will probably have seen his handiwork without even knowing it outside many of Londons’ pubs. RYCA divides his artistic activities between making his increasingly sought after print editions and his paintings, multimedia works and various one off pieces. Initially influenced by stencil graffiti and pop culture icons he is increasingly exploring new ways to expand his ideas and incorporate his sign making skills into his artwork.

'Gold Leaf Bunny Fingers' Framed by Pure Evil

Who is Pure Evil? - To understand a bit about Pure Evil it is illuminating to know that he is a descendant of Sir Thomas More, the Lord Chancellor who wrote the controversial work Utopia and who was later beheaded by King Henry VIII. With this busy background (Sir Thomas was later canonised) it is only natural that Pure Evil should explore the darker side of the wreckage of Utopian dreams and the myth of the Apocalypse, a belief in the life-changing event that brings history with all its conflicts to an end.

In 1990 Pure Evil left the Poll Tax Riots of London behind and went to live in California where he spent 10 years ingesting weapons grade psychedelics, thinking about stuff , making electronic music and printing t-shirts. Inspired by skateboard culture and the west coast character graffiti of Twist he returned to London and picked up a spraycan and started painting weird fanged vampire bunnies everywhere.

'Enemy of Promise' by Prefab 77

PREFAB is an art collective Based in the North east of England.

  After years of serving the corporate needs of the design industry the trio found they had something more profound to say, so PREFAB was born, a voice to their desires and frustrations. They found that combining their talents and interests in urban art they could be part of something much more fulfilling.

  Prefabs work combines various artistic mediums including a mixture of acrylic, spray-paint, varnish and inks, mainly on wood or paper.  Their work can often be seen beyond the studio and onto the street in the form of wheat-pastes and large building scale pieces.

  Over time Prefab have developed a distinct, dark feeling to their work which is often satirical of British life and it’s fading institutions. It also embodies their interests in illustration, politics and graphic design. Their latest show “Shot at by both sides” is Prefabs first solo show outside the UK. The work draws inspiration from both sides of the Atlantic, the ‘special relationship’ and true to the prefab ethos offers a reflection of all our popped aspirations as well as poking fun at them!

  It’s time to stop believing in authority and start believing in each other!

'She Comes In Colours' Framed by Marcos Torres

Marcos Torres is immensely popular in his native Spain and has garnered a strong international following, working with silkscreens to produce his stunning, vibrant and original prints. Torres's style is clearly influenced by Pop, the artist recognizing that it is no coincidence that his style has its origin in one of the most luminous, passionate and colourful periods in art history. Yet while he shares the parallel of popular culture images from the cinema, advertising, fashion, television and comics, he is not an imitator and resents a 'retro' stereotype. Each of his images takes a journey of its own, beginning with an inspiration, always reaching an unscripted ending that surprises even the artist himself. Torres's passion is inescapable throughout his work, which brims with enthusiasm for his medium and subject: “The extreme passion and emotion that I put in the process is what I try to ‘fix’ in the pieces, and my biggest determination is that the pieces are capable of transmitting it” Highly trained in drawing, design and photography, Torres has exhibited his silkscreen work in highly successful solo and group shows throughout Europe. He has also produced a number of visual identities for bands, music festivals and books, and recently designed a series of t-shirts for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

‘Judgement Day’ Framed by Antony Micallef

Micallef appeared on the art scene in 2000, winning second prize in the BP Portrait Award competition at the National Portrait Gallery. Since then his mix of political imagery fused with contemporary expressionism has won him worldwide acclaim. He illustrates many contemporary cultural aspects and connects them with the human experience. Abstracted human forms delve beyond pop culture and bring to the surface many of the things that operate beneath the cultural construct.

Micallef has exhibited throughout the world in locations incluing Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Bethlehem.  Recent group exhibitions include the Royal Academy’s Burlington Gardens (part of the GSK Contmporary) and the Tate Britain.  In 2011 Micallef had his recent sell out London Solo exhibition ‘Happy deep inside my heart’.

'Sitting Kid' Framed by Jef Aerosol

Jef Aerosol started stencils in 1982 in France. With a few other French artists, he pioneered a new way of artistic expression - breaking the limits of gallery spaces and canvas format to make streets a free and open exhibition arena. Characters are the focal point of Aerosol’s art. Whether they are cultural icons or anonymous people, he masters the technique of stencil to portray intimacy, catching the truth of an instant. Aerosol lives and works in Lille. His art is present in many private collections as well as on the walls of most major cities around the world, from Paris to Shangai. Regularly auctioned at Arcurial and Bonhams in Paris, London and New York. Jef Aerosol is exhibited in numerous galleries and participates in various street art festivals internationally with a first solo exhibition in a museum in France in 2011.

'Love is the Message' by Inkie

This artist is one of the most notorious graffiti writers in UK history to emerge out of the 80’s Bristol scene. Painting alongside 3D and Banksy, coming 2nd in the 1989 World Street Art Championships, the Kingpin was arrested as the head of 72 other writers in the UK's largest ever Graffiti bust, Operation Anderson.

  Inkie has since worked as head of design for SEGA, Xbox, and currently resides in Jade Jagger’s west London studio. As in-house artist and designer for prints, illustrations, clothing and with his trademark beauty on large-scale pieces, the globally respected artist, whose diverse inspirations collect Mayan architecture, William Morris, Alfons Mucha and Islamic geometry, has exhibited worldwide, been denounced by The Daily Mail and simultaneously lauded by The Times, his art published in the books Banky’s Bristol, Children of the Can, Graffiti World andmagazines Graphotism and Dazed & Confused.

  Inkie is featured in the 2007 LA graffiti documentary Bomb It, and takes centre stage in the British/Brazilian street art documentary, currently in production, entitled Weapon of Choicee.

Hush is an urban artist who worked in Hong Kong for a number of years as a graphic designer/Illustrator before recently returning to the UK.

His popularity is soaring, with a sell out London show, alongside high profile street pieces, sold out print runs and collaborations. With shows coming up in London and LA, Hush draws his influence from a wide variety of modern culture to create his work. His main interests being graphic-novels, animation, graphic-design, graffiti art, urban art and contemporary painting.

He has worked as a graphic designer & illustrator / art director in London, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Hong Kong where he worked for a few of the largest Toy companies in the world.

Hush studied Graphic Design & Illustrator at Newcastle school of Art & Design for 5 years. Since graduating in 1995 his work has been featured in numerous selected exhibitions in London, Los Angels, Hong Kong, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

'Rollergirl' (Blue) by HERO73

Danny Capozzi AKA HERO73 was obsessed with drawing characters from the age of 6. Growing up in the 1980's, he was inspired by the graphics and the cultures that surrounded him; Skateboarding, Graffiti, Breaking, DJ-ing and urban photography. In 1999 he started to exhibit in Bristol and London and soon became part of Bristol’s urban art scene where he shared a studio with Will Barras, Mr Jago, (of Scrawl Collective fame) Sickboy, China Mike, Dicy and Paris. It was here that he developed his own unique style of illustrating and adopted his pseudonym HERO73.

   In 2001 Danny decided to round up all his doodles under one roof and opened the Bionyc Industries Shop along with his sister Bru creating limited edition prints and T-Shirts. After illustrating for 7 years the next natural progression for Danny was to move into Animation where he had the great pleasure of working with Aardman Animations to produce a CGI Animated show called ‘Chop Socky Chooks’ which was BAFTA nominated and won the Gemini award for best Animated series 2008. He then was head hunted by Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Channel 4 and MTV along with a host of agencies with fancy triple barreled names to work on various projects, including his own show 100HeadEddie which is still in development. He now works as an illustrator, Production designer and Director on series and commercials and produces screen and art prints for exhibitions. Spring of 2010 sees HERO73 teaming up with Inkie for the Style Wars doodle battles in various locations around Europe.
