while i think not judging your artistic worth on how much exposure it gets is a valuable conversation to open up, this is a counterproductive way to do so. what i like to write isn't what the algorithm favors. i'm not gonna write something that i feel creatively stifled doing, and i'm not gonna continue to build a following on a blitz of interaction that almost always dies out on impact if you don't keep up the momentum.

okayyy let me put my nerd glasses on 🤓

starting with satosugu: they’re childhood best friends, went to the same schools, were friends with each other even when nobody else liked them. they were both kinda seen as standouts among their peers. they had no choice but to kinda stay stuck at the hip.

i wanna touch on the sexual nature of it too. yes, they are intimate, but it’s not often, especially since suguru has his girlfriend. it’s nothing of passion, just a way to feel close to each other and discover themselves. there’s never been anything more than what we’ve seen (no penetration per se 😭) so they’re fr just “messing around” suguru was technically a virgin until he met his girlfriend. satoru still sees other people outside of his relationship with suguru, and it’s normal.

now to our virgin: her meeting with satoru was fated, yes, but it wasn’t forced. she went into it expecting someone like her dad, and definitely not the stud she got lmfao. human nature and the biology of just being so repressed and angry honestly drew her right into his arms.

the sexual nature of their relationship is their crutch. it’s passionate, loving, and a very common occurrence. it’s where they can really see each other as two people and not the weight of their titles and family, if that makes sense.

satoru treats virgin like she’s a princess. they move day-to-day like they’re in a committed relationship, and whether he believes it or not, they’re in some type of love-lust. the only thing keeping him from marrying her is her father. that’s it — not the age-gap, or her personality, but her father and the past and present relationship they share, as well of the weight of the taboo.

speaking on liability, in my outline it's about her, not satoru. essentially, she goes back to suguru in the louvre chapter, and all her friends abandon ship afterward. lmfao they're tired of the bs back and forth, and i don't blame them. she just internalizes it to a crazy degree

I genuinely think Reader ends up in a worse place Satoru because atleast his far away from them, Reader deadass marries this man and has three kids. Satoru is a bird but Reader ends up being the whole flock in one single person.

I’d actually die. Also wdym Satoru loves/likes the reader in Melodrama differently to how he loves Suguru and the Reader in Virgin? Ofc he loves Suguru and Reader romantically and I wouldn’t expect him to love Reader in Melodrama romantically.

i definitely think so, too 😭 satoru actually got the hell out of there and even stopped talking to them until reader dies later on.

there's also definitely outward pressure on both sides that essentially forces their hand in marriage, too. yes, she's unhappy with suguru, but she loves him, he loves her kid, she loves her kid, and he takes care of them physically and emotionally. by that time all the college drama is farrrr out of the picture, and they would've made amends to some degree.

soooo 🤓 in melodrama i'm gonna play with deep platonic love between reader/satoru. (listen to tracks 2-3 in the album and get back to me lol) they were only "romantic" that one time as a fuck you to suguru - why I chose to inevitably not include that smut, either. they're gonna go through crazy pitfalls and trials that make them even closer, too
